I bought this the other day, played around a bit, did a few of the campaign scenarios and then traded it in for COD3.

Did I miss something, or is it actually that bad?

I enjoyed this game for quite some time and then the age old problem that happens with every and all RTS comes into play - the multiplayer is runied by players who just rush, rush and rush...

I still own it and intend to complete the campaign at some point.

Yeah I still own it but playing ranked games is pointless if you're the kind of player that likes to build an army n have a good old fashioned ruckas!

I still own it n would love to get a LOTR comp on the go...but it depends on the demand for it tbh.

COD I bought purely on the basis that neyo said it was kinda like BF2 - SOLD!

With LOTR, I played a few of the campaign scenarios, which were all very contrived, move this battalion over here, kill some stuff, move them over here, kill some stuff.. and got boring very quickly. I also played a few skirmish games, easy was too easy and there was no chance of decent rukus. So I stuck it on normal and the computer just rushes from the off, so at no point did I get a feel for any of the races, or even have a chance to, which made the game plain dull.

Add to that, the really crappy response when you try and scroll across a map - move a bit, freeze, move a bit, freeze, which added another tedious and annoying factor to the game.

COD, well, it's COD.. Enjoying plodding through the campaign atm, and the online was quite enjoyable I must admin, nothing hugely impressive, but the pace makes a welcome change after so much Vegas...

Yeahi had COD3 then traded it in because i couldnt get into any ranked games or hardly any player matches, bought it the other day again and have to admit loving it again but unfortunately cant get into ranked games yet (the sooner they fix that, the better) and with the new maps coming it looks like ill be playing this more often. :)

You should be able to pick it up cheaply now. I thought it wasn't too bad, although I'm absolutely crap at it. :D

I believe LOTR:BFME II is quite under rated. In my opinion it is still a good game. The only drawbacks i think are the fact you can't get all the achievements because no-one plays any of the lesser gametypes and rushing is quite annoying too. However if a tournament or something was knocked up I'd be a definite applicant.

It wasn't a bad game persay, but I traded it because while I love RTS games, I've become all too used to the PC interface. I mean - they did an AMAZING job setting that up on a console controller, but I couldn't dig it because I'm not used to that.

Now, if they allowed for using a Mouse and keyboard, that would be a different story..

Although i played this game, due to me being a massive Tolkien fan and middle earth geek, i really couldn't stand the game TBH! The whole thing has been totaly sold out and overstretched! *Tolkien turns in his grave*!
