This evening when playing my 360 it disconnected me from xbox live and when i logged on it came up and said Network adapter disconnected.

I removed adapter. Put it back in to test again and still says disconnected. The red light is on the adapter on the back but still not working

Any ideas??

you should try resetting the wireless network. do you run it from a pc? if so then reset it there and try again, my friend had a similar problem

Whilst on the subject, are the wireless adapters any good? I know that the ones for the original xbox were absolute cack, but i havnt heard anything about the 360 ones, good or bad. I think that next uni year i will need to get one as i am moving house and probably wont be so fortunate as to have the hub in my room...

They seem to do the job mate., I always host and i never have any lag. So on that aspect their ok. But i do find that they seem to disconnect when they are connected.

you mean it doesn't disconnect when it's disconnected? shocking...

in all seriousness, what's the latency like? noticeable? have you ever run your 360 via a fixed cable? how does it compare?

Anyone have any opinions on the adapter, as I am looking to get rid of the 15m phone cable, do they constantly disconnect, is it because you have not changed the frequency over to a instead of g?

And it seems to have gone unanswered, whats the latency like?

It's fine. It's not as bad as everyone is saying.

I used to have wired, now I have wireless -- and there's not the slightest bit of difference in latency or disconnection rate as far as I can tell.

There is always alot more packetloss. Wired is alot more reliable, but its still not entirely sheilded from interference. If there are any high powered devices like a microwave between your 360's wireless adapter and your router dont bother trying... If there is a body of water like a heating tank then dont bother either. Walls can kill wireless too.

If you live in an area where chavs have peds and go up and down your road all day than this can interfere too. For effortless reliable gaming go wired.

If your determined to go wireless then get a PDA or laptop and check the area your intending your sit your 360 for a good signal. If it says your connected at 54mbps you wont get that speed, so dont be fooled. Also ping some random sites repeatedly to see if you get any packet loss.

If you cant use wireless and ant run cable around the house then consider using your houses electricity sockets as a network using an adapter.

i have had one for a while no nothing seems to go wrong at all, its very good imo but i havent really tested it to its full length.

if its red it may mean your out of range, or WEP is wrong

i dont think it makes a difference but make sure its in the usb at the back.

is it possible to use a wireless usb dongle instead of spending on an extremely overpriced accesory?

My brother's mate has a lot of problems with traffic down his street and told me not to get one.

Virgin Media have sent me a free wireless router, but im gonna go with a 30m ethernet cable up the stairs for my son's 360.

Mine downstairs is already using a ethernet cable, the 30m cable to go upstairs is only gonna cost me just under a tenner, so im saving a lot compared to buying an adaptor.
