View Full Version : Your Headset...
I'm thinking of getting a new headset for my 360. The official wired 360 headset is the worst one i have ever used, the sound is awful and people can't hear me (don't know if this is with all of them, probably just mine). I have bought the wireless 360 headset and i do like that although I have also seen this headset (http://hardware.teamxbox.com/general/75/Audio-Xtreme-360-Headphones/) which i also like. So what does everyone think? Should I stick with my wireless headset (probably will)? or can someone persuade me to get a new headset (must be super cool :D)?

I have and love this one (http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat5750051/cat5750052/prod5600006)
I would recommend this, miles better than official crap, is plantronics, know for high quality halo 2 one. Looks nice, comfortable, however on first uses it may seem strange if you have got used to the standard over the head ones. The sound quality is decent, on par with the official one, but for me it stands out in detecting your voice, with other headsets i always find myself having to repeat things because the mike didt pick my voice up even when i was speaking loudly.
I would give it a fair 8.5.
You must be talking about this one Liam:

The plantronics halo 2 headset. Comfortable, lightweight but clearly designed for the original Xbox as the voices I hear on the XBL on the Xbox 360 are very quiet. Unfortunatly because it's light weight it is also easily broken, mine is cracked around the earpiece and is only just being held together :p
I am currently looking into the Xbox 360 official wireless headset and the Turtle Beach Ear Force X2 wireless headset:

I was looking at that the other day. How does it feel like wearing it for a few hours at a time?

Pretty good, sometimes it feel a bit to delicate, and you worry its to far away from mouth because of the design. However i could wear it all night and not remember it is there.
Another disadvantage of the wireless headset is it runs out of charge, (in approx 7 hrs. so its not too bad) if i forget to charge it it can be really annoying wearing my dodgy wired headset.

DayC mate dont get this one: http://turtlebeach.com/site/images/earforce/x2/3d_package_small.jpg
I have it and its poo, after 20 minutes it becomes uncomfortable and the mic is just as poor as the standard 360 mic.

I only have a normal xbox but I have the ones we used at xl. I thought they were brill and when I found they were only
I use this most of the time:

It's a throatmic which I soldered onto a connector block from a dead 360 headset, works quite nicely, some people complain about the mic quality on it being a bit muffled but thats down to where I place it on my neck and a quick adjustment usually sorts it out and the earpiece volume is really good.

I have customised the Plantronics headset for 360 n it works fine...if a liitle quiet compared to the standard XBL headset.
...n yeah, the Sennheiser HD201 headphones are provided at XL on all our stations! Glad you liked them! :D
Thanks for the advice Spin, probably won't be getting them now :)

All
I ve got say that the fundementally GREAT thing about the Ear Force x2 earphones is that they sound from the game gomes out of the earphones as well as the voice, allowing you to play the game without the sound blasting out around the house, if you can only get on late at night for instance ;o)
there is STILL nothing wireless with the mike built in like these available in the UK which I find crazy!
Ive got a pair and they are really good for sound and TBH i havent found the quality of the mike any problem at all.
For the ability to have the sound of both the VOICE and the GAME SOUND coming out of your wireless earphones these guys are pretty much your ONLY bet, therefore best by default, i guess.

I usually use these (http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=437&subcategory=438&product=11430) I can't tell you how many times these headphones have saved my ass on Rainbow Six. The sound quality's excellent. I also have the Official Xbox 360 headset over the top of them - you don't even know it's there. In game it's like the voice audio is coming through a different channel to the game audio and i can hear people perfectly - even in the middle of a fire fight. It's proberly the best ?75 ive ever spent.

my official 360 headset just died :(
now, do i go for another one of those (i'm more than happy with the quality tbh, and it's relatively comfy) or do i go for the plantronics? I LOVED the Halo 2 one, it truly rocked.
help!!!
edit: or what about the official wireless one? have they improved since the first shoddy batch?

Cheeky bugger! I actually wired it perfectly (twice as well!) it was just too quiet for use :(
I think I may plump with the new Plantronics one, but that means I'll be without a headset for the whole of Easter - not good!

How can you say the wireless headset is good, it pretty damn bad imo. The amount of interference you get on them and the sound quality you recieve isnt worth the price you pay.
There must be something wrong with yours then. Mine has no interference and pretty good sound quality. Another thing i like about it is the volume- can hear people loud 'n' clear.

I have to second that, the wireless headset is not worth its price tag, its worse than the orginal one IMO.

I havent got one, i just play with people who do have them, they always pick up some sort of interference every 20 mins and have to be turned off and turned back on to reset and clear the interference. Usually the people using the wireless headset dont know about the interference and have to be told when their voice is distorted.
Play with our good friend Robert666uk and you'll see how annoying it gets.

My wireless one is really sensitive and can hear me when I scratch my head. And it always gets interference, it's really chuffing annoying.
