Is there any prize money though? If its just the entry fee then people won't because at the moment £50 isn't a huge incentive for people that are not just out for bragging rights.

If there are only 5 people competing, and its £10 entry fee, and the prize money is 'dependant on the number of players competing' then I think my point was correct in the last post. Its about bragging rights, nothing more, and tbh theres not a lot to brag about seeing as nobody plays the game now.

hey whats up, i just got round to checking these forums, ive already entered but i was under the impression that there was gonna be a LOT more players and a LOT more prize money involved, if this is the case i wont be attending it would cost me more to get there than there is in prize money i think it should have been made much more clearer exactly what the prizes were for each event before entering, even the prizes for the free to enter tourny is more than this, will ther be any kind of refund available ?

Prize funds available are clearly stated on the tournament schedule and is based on the number of players entered.

As per terms and conditions, refunds are not available after Friday 31st October.

Barely anyone turns a profit at XL events. Surely people know that by now. By the time you factor in travel, hotels, entry, entrance, it goes above most of the prize funds.

Exactly. Its disappointing to see ppl still complaining about prize funds especially when they have no guaranteed chance of winning and the taking part is what is most important. The free to enter prize tournaments have higher prize funds than any pay to play tournaments at this event.

Sorry i dont want to come accross as only interested in prize money coz thats not the case, at the time of writing that last post i had only just discovered the poor current turn out for ut3 and i have to admit i wasnt aware of the way the prizes went by how many people entered, id much rather see a full rosta of good players to play against than only 4 or 5, it wouldve mainly only been about bragging rights but at this rate its hardly worth bragging about for the winner, i just hope that more quality good players sign up b4 its too late or as i said b4 i dont think it'll be worth coming to play

It does look to be a disappointing turnout for UT3 but all tournaments have fewer players than the last event by the looks of it. All I can promise is that we'll make it as enjoyable for everyone as possible.

As being a U.S. player, I was hoping to travel to this event as I heard the cash prizes was magnificent. Seeing the low count of player entry just convinced me that this was a far fetched claim to what I had hoped for. =(

Would have been nice as well for me to travel around Europe as I have never been in you beloved continent. =)

Welcome to MatchBox360 Remy.

We gave out £10000 cash prizes at the last event so what you heard was probably half right. All our tournaments are basically over 100% of tournament entry fees and directly proportional to the number of players entered. Unfortunately if certain tournaments dont get a high turnout then the prize fund is low and we simply cant afford to offer guaranteed prize funds without the support of sponsors.

HAHA u worried ur cheap lil tactic wont be allowed ??? haha its nothing more than a cheap trick to try n get a cheap advantage over ur opponent haha u used to just be predictable coz u taunted EVERY time u went over health viles haha which is fine while u used it to disguise sounds u make, but now u just do it all the time to try n gain a edge by sliding all over the maps. i play with voices turned off so i hear every move u make but constant sliding IS just a cheap trick nothing more, it SHOULD be banned from events like this, good luck anyway layton, ur gonna need it if thats how u have to play

Okay, now this is just sorta "great". I was hoping to be able to purchase my ticket tomorrow, when the money arrives on my dad's PayPal acc. Now I just read it'll be closing tonight?

I've got my flight booked, comming from Germany all the way up there to Brum and now I'm able to purchase my tickets I cannot get them no more? I need to talk to Konspiracy asap.

Been at XL4 with most of BsE, but this time I'll be kinda the lone wolf around here. And seeing as I'll be alone, I was thinking I'd be getting a room in one of the hotels nearby (prefferably Express Inn, Solihull) and now I just checked the availability.. and nope.. they don't even got one single room left. Just got better and better the past few days, hours.. seriously, I need to get things sorted asap, if anyone knows people who are staying in the Express Inn in Solihull please PM me!

Yeah the seeds will be locked tonight to allow us to prepare fixtures and brackets in advance. Only really matters for team events tbh. For UT3 it looks like we'll do group stage then knockout so you all get more games for your money.

Hey, what's that meant to mean there, lol..

Anyways.. yea, was actually pretty amazing the closer we came to XL, cause I was more dedicated to the game than I usually was.
Still.. the snail-version (360) put me to a disadvantage, cause you want to play faster but yet you're restricted to the slower game play which undertones your PS3 reactions a bit, so you may release a fully loaded rocket luncher when you're still in cover on 360 version, where as you'd be dodge-jumping out of the cover already and NOT hit the wall on the PS3 version.. should be the best example of how much you had to get used to the 360 version there.. the controller was only a little bit.. although I had to change the weapon changing to B and X (left and right button I mean on 360) instead to keeping them on Left and Right (Digital Pad on PS3/360) cause the dig. pad is placed where the left analog stick of the Dualshock3 is actually. :/


To say the least.. I got freakin' unlucky with my group, as I had to play both the finalists.. :(
Funny thing though.., when we were back in the hotel we played Deck and another map under LAN circumsitions (spelling?) again (me and the winner of the UT3 Tournament) and we came to a 6/7 score to him on Deck (pretty unexpected, as this is *his* map) and I actually won the other map we played.. which I think it was Heat Ray, but I'm not sure.

Anyways.. all the UT folk are a pretty nice bunch of ppl. I gotta say, and XL6 was a good thing to experience as well (yet again) and changed a lot since XL4. In a good way.

A huge shame the UT scene didn't pick up on the 360, but like I said at the event; consoles have halo, PCs don't have any spacey FPS games.

xl was great, brilliant to meet some of the ut players and turned out to be a good tournament.... i too feel i was unlucky in the group stages be it that i wasnt really challenged until my semi final match making the oposition have a large advantage, all in all i was pretty happy i stepped up in the 3rd place playoff to defeat expose who i had earlier suffered a defeat to... cya all next xl UT3 FOR WCG!!!
