I got upgraded to 2mb with ntl for free a while back and there was no difference and my parents downgraded the tv subscription cos tv is turd and we only got downgraded to 1 mb which felt no different for me.

We're sitting on 8MB about 20 metres from the exchange.

Syncing at 8157kbps down and 541kpbs up

4mb down, 512kbit nice and smooth :D

Although I need to have a reboot of my router and switch as my speed on my side of the switch is crap but directly through the router its a full 512kbit up... grrrr!

I have 14Mb Broadband with Be Broadband and they are very good, no problems what so ever.

Probably the best thing I have ever done after making the mistake of going with Tiscali.

Im on BT but they arent so bad I am paying for "up to" 8Mb but really this is always between 4 and 6 down and a stable 512 up so I am not too bothered.

Im sitting on 2 MB download, iv got the 254 kp on the upload, and i got the lowdown with BT.

Changing very soon, because A BT promised us a free upgrade to a 8 mb conneection, we can only recieve 6mb where we live but we are still on the 2mb. And B my parents think we are being ripped of when they can get a package for less than what we have with a better conenction and a phone bill reduction.

NTL 10 Meg

It’s fine when downloading and browsing the web but utter wank sometimes on XBL as its never stable enough from match to match. One game everyone is telling me they fell there playing on host the next im getting moaned at for spouts of random lag.

I'm moving out at the end of the month and will soon lose my 10 Meg and be on a 1 meg connection, I’m not to bothered tbh.

To the people who say they're getting ripped off:

Just because you have a 8mb or whatever deal, doesnt mean your pyshical line can handle 8mb. You should check that first before you sign up to anything.

KONSPIRACY

When a company promises you a line for 8mb n they say that they have tested your line/exchange to say you can have that speed, then surely that would class as being ripped off?

I don't think it ever says 8MB, just up to 8MB.

I know i cant get 8mb but i have done one of those tests and we can get 6mb, and all my neighbours have about 5-6mb, so infact yes they are ripping us of.

Its been slow n **** for all eternity...but the constant disconnections coincide with bulldog takin over my landline in the last few days. Just been on the phone to them for the last hour n half where they say its there mistake n the whole of the northern network ion Manchester is goin to be rebooted this evening/tomorrow morning in an attempt to fix the problem which is basically the takeover of over 3000 lines from BT to the 8mb connection n has failed dramatically.

BTW I'm disconnecting approx every 5 minutes n cant get a game on xbl.

edit: I actually disconnected twice whilst typin this post!

Kon you should switch to Blueyonder, you might not get 16mb for 50p but they're damn reliable. I've had only one problem with them since I signed they're contract a few years back and i've been upgraded from 256kbps to 2mbps in a year. They also come with great ethernet modems too, I hate seeing internet packages that are incredibly cheap but come with a modem that goes through a crap phone line.

I'm also with blueyonder (soon to be changed to Virgin something I think ...:|) and I have had no problems at all. My host is always really good on XBL and i have been upgraded from 1mbps to 4mbps. Does anyone have Sky broadband? If so, whats it like?

It takes 4 years of 512 for you to get annoyed? That's tolerance for you. Run a cheese grater up and down his face until he orders something with at least 4Mb downstream and 486 up. I would never wish bad internet on anyone, not even you.

Can only get ADSL n cant get cable in my area...so blueyonder isnt an option I'm afraid. Hopefully will see some improvement in the next week or so now its been flagged up.

My internet is a pile of ****, its a 2mb connection but the best i can get is less than 1mb (960 kbps). Our area supposebly got downgraded but i think thats Pipex talking **** so we stay on there connection. We had Orange and could easily get 2mb. :(
