The official XL PES2009 tournament will take place on the Sunday with freeplay available on Friday and Saturday.

PES tournaments only take 1 day so doesnt need to be any more than that. Is that a problem?

If anything, Sunday is the quietest day - most of the Halo 4v4 and COD 4v4 have been knocked out by then. Friday and Saturdays are packed.

This was discussed with the Gears community. The game isnt out yet so with just a few weeks between the event and release it would be too close to determine rules, teams to get together and we dont even know if the game is any good yet (early reports suggest that multiplayer isnt as good as hoped). If the game is good enough then it will replace Gears next year but its too early to determine. This is the same reason why we havent replaced COD4 with CODWAW.

Yes, but i think that everybody will play GoW2 and will love it.

And so they will don't come back on GoW1.

If, everybody love GoW2, you can replace GoW1 with GoW2 ? or it's too late ?

We took a lot of factors into consideration before making this decision, and the official tournament will be Gears1.
Gears2 will be available on freeplay and may be a free to enter tournament on the Friday at this event.

We did the same with Halo 2/3 as well.. Halo 3 was out, but the event *just* after was Halo 2.. No where near enough time to learn the maps, strategies etc and given that the game dynamics are different, it takes a lot longer to get tournament ready then you'd think :-)

People are going to keep playing the game for a couple of weeks if they can end up making a decent amount of cash out of it.

We did Halo3 straight away actually Jay...but it was released about 2 months before XL giving us enough time to create maps and for teams to get established. Theres a big difference between 2 weeks and 2 months = approx 6 weeks! lol :D
