Been working on a little something for a while now that should see regular small scale LAN events taking place for all your LAN freaks! 8)
The session is being lined up to take place in the October half term and will be a good warm up for XL6 the following month. Before I confirm full details, I could do with some feedback from the community...
Would you attend if it was midweek in school half term? (between 27th - 31st October)
Would you like 1 or 2 days? (approx 12hrs per day)
How much would you be prepared to pay per day for dedicated freeplay?
Would you like a free to enter tournament included?
If we do a free to enter tournament, is having prizes essential or would you rather pay a small fee to enter on top of daily charge?
If it goes ahead then it would take place in Birmingham, so how many players and teams would attend?
Please answer all questions as fully as possible.
I will update this post with a list of interested/confirmed players.

i doubt XceLLence.Regret would be ther as i do not return from holiday till the day before and travel costs, will be too high for me to afford to even attend free play and free entry tournaments.
Very good idea though, like a Warm up.

- Yes as that means I dont have to blag time off 6th form :P
Would you like 1 or 2 days? (approx 12hrs per day)
- 2 days as it would be more worth while for players traveling for it
How much would you be prepared to pay per day for dedicated freeplay?
- Do lots of free play for prizes on smaller games like Guitar hero 3 etc. But also do pay to play for the bigger games like COD
Would you like a free to enter tournament included?
- Just said something like that above :D
If we do a free to enter tournament, is having prizes essential or would you rather pay a small fee to enter on top of daily charge?
- Yes prizes are needed as it would make alot more players come and enter them
If it goes ahead then it would take place in Birmingham, so how many players and teams would attend?
- Around 10-15 players from Inferno will attend as about that many are local :)

The whole idea of this would be to provide freeplay without the pressure of competitive tournaments so the emphasis would be on the whole social aspect and ppl enjoying the LAN experience. Costs would be kept to a minimum so providing decent prizes is unrealistic as it would mean additional expense for the ppl attending which defeats the whole purpose of doing this in the first place, and sponsorship is extremely unlikely with it only being on a small scale. If their isnt enough demand for it then it simply wont happen.

Having to pay for all the costs such as food, travel, accomodation etc. really wouldn't be worth it for 1-2 days, especially if people are travelling from far to get there. For people from Birmingham it sounds a good idea though.

XL used to be 2 days. If you want LAN experience and just enjoy gaming then its very much worth it.

I dont like this idea at all it will spoil the hype for XL6.

No reason why other games cant be catered for all players would have full access to the Omega Sektor which includes more Xbox 360s, PCs and Wiis...in addition to the 32 XL consoles which would be set up and dedicated to XL tournament games for freeplay/free to enter tournaments each day.
edit:

Thats why it would be a practise session for ppl to get used to playing on LAN. Not only would it raise the standard of teams but should also increase the hype for XL. Thats the idea anyway...I wouldnt consider doing it if it would have a detrimental affect on XL would I?!

around 5-8 people from real Gaming will come, prizes are essential but u should charge£2-3 per player

£2-3...? please tell me you're joking. Do you know how much it costs to rent out a place for 2 days? I think its a good idea although i think the appeal is going to be more to gamers closer by as i think people further away are likely to have difficultly coming up with the cash to come to the main events as well as these LANs

Sounds good but it would be nice if you had a secondary lan tournament in the south. midlands and the south:D:D

Unfortunately due to lack of demand and high costs, it has been decided that this will not be going ahead.
We will continue to look at options to provide regular events next year, but unfortunately it is not a viable option to go ahead with this before XL6.
