We will be shortly announcing a UT3 tournament and I would like to get the ball rolling by getting YOUR opinions on the rules set and team sizes for this tournament.

Should this be a success, we may possibly add this tournament to the XL lineup. This is entirely up to the support of the UT3 Xbox360 scene, please get all the teams you know to get posting here to push UT3 forward.

TBH I dont understand why all the talk so far has been for 3v3? May be some of the UT3 players requesting this could enlighten me.

Maps? Coret, Hydrosis, Omicron Dawn, Reflection, (Theres one more cant remember name tho)
Round Times? 15mins, First to 3.

These are realy good settings, and when we scrim we do these settings with all the other UT3 teams.

Any imo, although I don't know how big a map like vertebrea would turn out in 3v3.
And I don't like FacingWorlds :P

Reflection and Omicron Dawn should definately get in though.

I'd say 4v4, though 3v3 might get a few more teams in

None, no instagib either (it's nice and everything but there's not enough regular tournaments)


Question: We have mainly american members, can they still play if we stick to EU hosts?

3v3 might just make it easier to make up the numbers is all i think.

and i think the whole idea drokun is to keep the tourney EU to see how much it could work at XL

Keep it solely EU as americans will lag the game up. The rules seem pretty sweet, think you shud post up some rules and get people to maybe edit them or hold votes. 3v3 or 4v4 seems good, think 4v4 is alot better as the maps are quite big for UT3 on some of the flag games, 3v3 is to small, I found this out when playing GamesBattles that 3v3 wasn't the best for games, but 4v4 works really well as the game seems faster and imo makes the game better to watch. 3v3 makes you more careful and it seemed to slow the game down alot. UT3 FTW

This is an EU only site at the moment however we may open US ladders and tournaments in the future.

Question: if a UK team host against a US team, is the lag still a problem for UK players on UT3? Is there anyway to steal host like on Halo3?

Nope i dont think so there will always be lag between us both.

I got two main ideas about UT3 Comp.:
Either we do it like suggested CTF only
or we make a best of 3 or 5 series, Halolike with alternating Gamemodes, mainly CTF,TDM.
in case of best of 5 we could for example do Warfare on Market District as Decisionmap (5th map).
The Map plays quiet competitively, has no vehicles and would be a good addition just for having more Gametypes and bring in more variety in skill in all manners.

Anyway I think 3v3 is the best to start with and we will probably have more teams like that.

So here are Rules:
Just take CTF-Rules if CTF only is played

Instagib? Uhm, Instagib on Unreal Champisonship was really good and competitive but haven't tried it on ut3
Power Ups? Yes all, infact if its going to be a tourny you have to have all or none as most are located in the centre of the map.
3v3? 4v4? Only played 3v 3 and there really good... haven't played a 4 v 4 yet so no comment.
Maps? What Hitman said but one more.
Round Times? 10/15 Minutes
Gameplay Type? CTF & TDM

Pretty interesting idea, but if you're gonna do warfare you might want to add Sinkhole for variation? (the other smalll map)

uuh great idea instagib CTF as Tiebraeaker sounds nice, its a really good mode.
Gonna tryout Warfare-sinkhole 2day actually never played it. are there vehicles on the map? cause then its ****.

Maybe we could du bo3 for the first rounds and do bo5 for the final rounds (quarter-semi final or sth.)

Im realy not liking the warfare idea... i prefer it just to be TDM/CTF myself and many others would agree.

i really ****in hate warfare myself but just try to scrim once its not that bad on MD-Map only, since its as small as a ctf map, there are no vehicles one Prime Node to link to core and 2 other nodes for different spawn. If you hold both secondary nodes the Core of the enemy lift up above the roof and it can be shot from center too.
On this Map its a bit like Domination from UT99+ just that you have to shoot at the Core to win than just holding the points.

nevr m1nd lets rock! A series of ctf tdm is also very cool, ctf only could be a bit plain and there are some teams who are playing tdm only yet so those might be scared of ctf only and might not be joining the tourney.

PS: I knew you would hate me for the warfare idea xD

You do know that once you have both side nodes as well as middle you can use a turret to shoot the core?
Does a lot more damage and is at a safer distance.
There's uDamage on that map as well btw, and sniper - but I never see anyone use them.
It could be pretty tactical.

Oh, and about your earlier post: You know that the provided team damage mutator does only 50%? Ofcourse, any other version with modding had another one to fix that but...

just the lack ofpeople playing, but you´re right KON 4v4 is even better cause game and maps are pretty much designed for it. and 4v4 (5v5 iCTF) is the size UT was played in past generations.
We even have a 4v4 Team atm so I´ll just go with the majority.
I think its just the hope of getting more teams together.

@Drokun: I know the frienldy fire Mutator does "only" 50% of Teamdamage, which can still be quiet a lot (Flak, Rocket) but i think it would make the game a bit more skilled as you don´t just spam rockets everywhere, and your team needs more coordination. I could live without it, but it makes TDM a bit more tactical actually.

edit: Team Damage Mutator is a MUST in TDM really. PC Pro Mod has 100% Team Damage but with this we get a bit closer to promode at least. It also has no Spawn Protection and Armor Stacking ehich we canßt realize but Teamdamage we can!!

Here´s a little list for Duel/TDM, u can see:

* Duel/TDM Mod - Check to set standart duel and tdm settings such as force respawn, no redeemer,
, no darkwalker, no invulnerability in TDM, and additionally no doubledamage, no berserk and no invisibility for duel.
This options work only in duel and tdm game mode.
Equal bEnableDuelTDmMod=True in config settings. Now Duel/TDM Mod not remove berserk and invis from TDM game.

* 100%TeamDamage - Check to set full team damage. Equal bEnableFullTeamDamage=True in config settings.

* NoSpawnProtection - Check to set no spawn protection. Equal bEnableNoSpawnProtection=True in config settings.

* Armor Stacking - This checkbox permit pickup armor if a player has full load of same type armor.
Equal bEnableArmorStacking=True in config settings.

* WeponStay - If UNCHECKED, turn weapon stay off, if checked, do nothing.
Equal bAllowWeaponStay=True in config settings.

---> So U-Damage, Invisibility, Berserk allowed for TDM NOT for Duel!!

We have a lot of future updates to the site and the way we've been operating the tournaments. We're hoping to release a huge update shortly and UT3 players will be the first to trial the new system and give us feedback while we 'hope' to make these tournament easier to play in.

There isn't a date at the moment, should we start being affected by deadlines then we will organise one on here shortly. :)
