A Nice Way To Round Off The 2008 Season.

I've brought something similar to this up before but I think it'd be cool to hold some sort of player awards come XL6. Maybe during the final presentation there could be awards given out to players, similar to what MLG do.

The various awards could be:

- Halo 3 Players Player Of The Year
- Gears of War Players Player Of The Year
- Call of Duty 4 Players Player Of The Year
- European eSporter Of The Year
- Manager Of The Year lol (Seriously, Vote Mellow!)


Etc. Obviously others could be decided. After nominees would be decided and then voting could ensue either before or during XL6.

Then in the final award ceremony, as well as giving a shout out or whatever to the teams who won, it'd be cool for the winners of each category to receive a trophy. Much like the winners of the tournaments themselves. Taking on what Multiplay have done, I feel that the winners of each tournament should get a medal/trophy as I think it gives them something that'll last forever rather than a bit of cash.

We did something similar at XL1 and 2 didn't we? Definitely like to see it come as standard for all XLs though and all games. Over to you Kon (B).

i duno if this is feasable but have controllers as awards for the winners? i.e. green one for p.e.s. red one for GoW i dunno its sjut an idea :)

I agree with you, the staff definitely don't get the thanks they deserve for their hard work and efforts. Some of the staff work their socks off from the minute the event is announced until the minute the event finished. But these I felt were more for player to be recognised who are truly a cut above the rest. On GoW forum, every other second someone is posting, best EU Player in the last 5.5 seconds. It'd be good to finally recognise people.

I do think we should do something for the staff though also, just to say a big thanks for their hard work and efforts.

In all seriousness, I don't care about the prize money. All I wanted was a trophy. Kind of the same with clans and teams, all I've wanted is a simple and sick clan t-shirt. I'd like to see it implemented as as Mellow said, a trophy is something you can have forever.

I discounted PES for two reasons. A It's not a team game and B, there's negative point in holding a vote for that game cause there's only one winner. PES just needs a decent trophy for the winner. That being said, there is a medal for the winner anyway isn't there? So that's still pretty good. For those who haven't seen, this is part of what I won from i35/M-Festival/WCG UK Qualifiers:

Well, you did say 'Player of the Year', which would account three events, not one. The PESrankings medals are a nice touch, but not as much when you have six of the same at home.
