That depends on your age, how old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Parental consent for aged restricted games does not apply in the UK and we would be still legally liable. All players and spectators must be aged 15 or older. Please refer to age restriction thread.

Oh right...in that case just show them the pics and vids of the event. Theres never been any trouble at previous events, and theres also onsite security and everyone is very friendly. Happy to speak to your parents personally if they need any reassurance.

Let me say their are alot of youngsters about aswell as older gamers and i like to think that everyone looks out for everyone at this event, everyone has got to remember we all share a common interest...Gaming.
So you can get a guarentee from me that i try to look out for gamers.

If you like, get them to look over this forum for the reports from people, and staff assurances that the events are an extremely fun and well spirited occasion - much like any sporting event but where everyone has something in common.
You can also assure them that any acts of violence, bullying, racism or sexism will be dealt with extremely seriously by the staff and community - and although it's never happened, we are not afraid to deal with any troublemakers personally.

Personally i think the Matt fincham effect can be used in most problem areas with XL.

No no, i am of course not only referring to the Matt fincham clause that everything is his fault but also linking him to the film "the butterfly effect".
Which in turn means there is a 'Matt fincham effect'.

Chloroform your parents then take their car they will just be waking up the time you get back.
Seriously though just tell them its a " Gaming Convention." and they will surely oblige and let you go.

Well my dad came to Birmingham and dropped me off and payed for hotels for XL4 and i came back alive after everyday, so hes trusting now, but convincing parents is never easy. I suggest slowly bringing it up and even a recomendation by some of the staff. Y'know, get your parents to give one of the staff an email, and im sure they could give a great recomendations and maybe convince your parents to let you go.

If you get them to email me make sure its not on the following days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, as i go on a mass murdering spree and like kick little kittens in face for fun on these days so wont be in the best frame of mind to respond to Emails. Oh and not on Sundays either, don't ask...

True that, if a fight or racisim broke out the community wouldn't just stand and watch, they'd do something about it.
There's never any trouble at XL, who would run the risk of being kicked in the balls by 501.

My parents let me go to my first LAN when I was 14 I think (HiV LAN, remember that James?). She stayed in a hotel local to the place I was staying, and my Dad stayed at a hotel with me during XL1. Since I turned 16 I was allowed to go on my own, and no questions asked. Now I'm 17, they couldn't give a ****. :p
Perhaps suggest your parent/s come with you, not to the event, but stay in a hotel with you or something. Anything for a LAN I say!
Someone responsible will have to take me. :P

Just try and be adult about it, is what i suggest, dont throw a fit if they say no, just bring it up when they're pissed. I know that my parents arent gonna be too please, but ill be 18 by XL 6 so they wont have a say :-)

We'd just make more available if they did sell out. The venue is huge so its really not a problem.
