Please read and understand both the UNREAL TOURNAMENT III DUEL and the MatchBox360 General Rules listed below:

Start Date: Sunday 3rd August
Player Limit: 64
Event Admin: Boffy

UNREAL TOURNAMENT III DUEL RULES:

All players must be registered on this site and be resident in the UK or Europe to enter.

It is the responsibility of all players to communicate with opponents and event staff, arrange fixtures within the timescales provided and report results accordingly. Failure to arrange a match within the given timescale will result in removal from the competition.

The tournament will follow a SINGLE elimination knockout format, whereby a loss will demote your team to the losers bracket. A further loss in the losers bracket will result in your teams elimination from the tournament.

Players will be seeded based on performance in the previous MatchBox360 XL LAN tournament. Any players who did not take part will be seeded at random.

The tournament schedule is as follows:

ROUND 1: 3rd August - 10th August
Subsequent rounds and losers bracket will be played weekly thereafter.

Please note: if players are unable to agree a mutually convenient time for their fixture then the default time for each fixture will be Sunday at 8:00pm unless otherwise stated. Any players who do not show at this time (as per no show rules stated below) will be deemed to have forfeited the fixture.

Each fixture will be played using the following format:
- Fixtures will consist of a best of 3 map series.
- Maps will be set for each round by MatchBox360 admin.
- Each player will host 1 map.
- The home player will host map 1. The away player will host map 2.
- The non-host player will have choice of spawn location.
- If players are tied after playing the first 2 maps (ie 1-1), then the player who scored the most kills in the previous 2 games will host the 3rd map.
(please note: the 3rd map does not have to be played if the outcome of the result has already been determined).

All fixtures will be played using the following settings:

Game Mode:
Duel

Hosting Options:
Server Type: Listen
Max Players: 2
Min Players: 2
Private Slots: 0
Goal Score: 0
Time Rules: 10 minutes

Map List:
Deck
Diesel
Heat Ray
Sentinel
Shangri’La

Restricted Items:
Double AMP / uDamage
Beserker
Invisability
Redeemer
Deathwalker (vehicle)

Gentlemans Code of Conduct: Whilst we cannot disable Super Pickups and vehicles, please follow the gentlemans rule to NOT use the restricted items stated above against your opponent. A default loss will be given to any player found to have used any restricted item. All players are required to supply clear screenshots or video evidence to support any breakage of this rule.

Please note: It is the responsibility of both players to ensure the game settings are correct, and by playing in and completing the game you accept the game settings set by the host player.

Hosting and Connections:
- Please ensure there is no other internet equipment active in your household and there is no one downloading using the same connection whilst you are playing.
- A 3 minute lag test should be completed prior to the start of the game series. If any player experiences a poor connection or disconnects then a dedicated host should be found.
- If a player lags out or disconnects prior to any kills being made or the first 3 minutes of gameplay, then the game is to be restarted.
- If a player lags out or disconnects after the first 3 minutes of gameplay, then the game is to be resumed with the remaining time to be played and the scores at time of disconnection.

The player drawn as the home player must set up a lobby using the settings above and map selected, then invite the other player to join (please ensure you have sufficient room on your friends list to add / receive friend requests from your opponent).

After the map hosted by the home player has been played, the away player must set up a lobby using the settings above and map selected, then invite the other player to join.

If a 3rd and deciding game is required, then the host player is to set up a lobby as detailed above.

If as the home player, there is no response from your opponent for up to 15 minutes after the scheduled start time then the game will be declared a "no show", and the home player will receive a default win and progress to the next round.

If as the away player, you do not receive a friend request or game invite by the scheduled start time then you must firstly add your opponent to your friends list, and if after 15 minutes there has been no response then the game will declared a "no show". The away player will receive a default win and progress to the next round.

The winning player must report the result in the appropriate results thread in the Unreal Tournament III Duel forum. Obviously, if there was a "no show" then the winner by default must report the game details in the forum asap.

Please be aware that it is both players responsibility to ensure the result is reported correctly. If you have any issues with the reported result you must contact an MatchBox360 representative immediately. You must provide clear photographic evidence in case the result is questioned.

Any performance of known glitches in the game will be classed as cheating. If you suspect a player to have used glitches, cheats or abusive behavior, you must provide sufficient evidence of reasonable quality and the appropriate action will be taken.

Full fixture details & results will be made available online as soon as the results are posted in the forums.

Prize details to be confirmed.

Just out of interest, what factors made you decide to use Biohazard even though you didn't use it at XL?

Boffy and Gaskin wanted Biohazard included...if you guys really really dont want it in then we simply wont use it in the map rotation.

I'm not too bothered, it's only an online tournament. I just don't see the point in including it when most of the community hate it.

I didn't actually have any input for the rules for this online (I don't want everyone hating me!), however I did want Biohazard at XL, but if the majority of the community don't agree with it then that's fine.
