fill the large empty space with something.

honestly, the place is huge and it wasnt used. get an arcade company to supply u with some machines. youll make a mint if you had 8 daytona cars to race each other on. classic simpsons game thts in every arcade ever and even a time crisis wouldnt hurt.

or get some retro cpus setup, a dreamcast or two.

on a staff side of things, get proper forms ready for all competitions not just reuseing halo/gow ones.

We did have a large "fun" area lined up but the company dicked us around and didnt turn up. Obviously we have more ideas for better use of space next time.

Staff results were available...for some reason the tournament admin failed to use them.

cranmore was a good location the setup was ok net time there should be some more 360s set up to play cod4 on as there was teams waiting hours to get on and practice and by the time they did get on it was time for there first game, but other than that it was all good especially wen fusion gaming aka.gamebattles scrubs lol xD beat genetix who even couldent win wen they had a member of there team come round and look at all our monitors then go back and tell his team where we all was. lol

thought all staff did good job

I thought the organisation was quite poor to be honest. The CoD4 free for all eventually started about 3 hours late and the 5v5 was the same on the Saturday, not really very good as it meant that a lot of people and teams were just sitting around from 9 til 1 doing nothing at all.
I think you should have a set schedule forgames and stick to it. Flexibility is fine but when I saw a free for all match restarted when they had played 7 minutes just because someone turns up late then it is just stupid.
Still all that said it was nice to meet some of the other players and team and I know that we all had a good laugh anyway. It definately hasnt put me off attending future events so it cant have been all that bad.

Unfortunately there was a delay on Friday morning due to a really late setup on Thursday. Issues like this are part of going into a new venue and under the circumstances the staff did a really good job. We can only apologise for the delay and will be sorted next time.

First I've heard about an FFA game being restarted. Could you tell me which referee did that?

I will also speak to COD4 admin as to why the 5v5 started so late on Saturday.

We didn't play our first game until about 12.00 and our second game was around 5ish. Too long between matches as we were all getting fed up by then. Also our opponents had just played their game and they didn't even have to move chairs to play us. I think they had a big advantage as we only had a 2 Min's practice before we played and they were all settled and warmed up.
I think there should have been a fixture list on the big screen at all times with estimated time of play on them. Also the scores would have been handy for all to see. I still haven't seen the official results from the weekend either.???

We didn't play our first game until after 2pm, you had it easy, we had to play our next match straight after and got like a minutes FFA practice before we had to play because the LB brackets were falling behind.

I don't think any of the CoD4 players can complain about practice or freeplay tbh, the amount to stations they had on the saturday and sunday for freeplay was ridiculous.

As regards to the late start on Friday morning, as Kon Said this was a new venue we had a late set up we was up until 3:30 and due to security gurd we had to go so had to therefore go back early in the morning and finish setting up etc.

It was a new venue and theres always something that will mess up due to it been a new place.

as for the scores we are hoping to make them available for you too see at the next XL on either another projector or a monitor.

I belive the official results are been sorted.. please bare with us :)

Thanks for your comments..

James.

XL is a LAN tournament with supplied consoles...the only way to avoid teams waiting is to do BYOX so unfortunately you're just going to have to get used to it. Sometimes teams stay on for their next fixture...again, thats just the way it is depending on how results go and subsequent fixtures.

The projectors display forthcoming fixtures throughout the weekend. This will be improved next time with dedicated projectors for fixtures as opposed to fixtures being removed for gameplay on mainstage. We have never published brackets and results after XL as we dont have the software to do so at the moment.

Next time we will increase the temp by a couple of degrees but it really wasnt hard to go stand outside for a few minutes on the hottest days of the year so far. The temp is kept cool inside the venue to prevent equipment overheating, and I'd rather you got a bit cold than numerous consoles having RRoD.

In all honesty it wasn't that cold I reckon someone couldn't keep a cold to themselves, I doubt it could have been avoided though especially as guitar hero and smash bros were used by everyone and it's kind of hard to avoid that.
