To Kako - 2/10
Random Greek zombie film. Started promisingly but as soon as the gore kicked in it lost its appeal. Looked like a student film and a pretty poor one at that.
Rocky Balboa - 4/10
Far too long and overly sentimental. Not nearly enough action for a Rocky film. The training montage was lame and it had a lame ending with everybody coming out on top (I would of given it a 10 if Rocky had died in the ring like I'd hoped)
Fist of Legend - 10/10
Classic Jet Li remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. At least 5 bone crunching fight scenes, a decent storyline and an awesome Chinese soundtrack. Watched on VHS the other night, such poor quality!
How can you guys rate V for Vendetta so highly? Did any of you read the graphic novel? The film is poor in comparison. I heard Alan Moore refused to put his name to it!

Cormac - possibly because I'm a believer that something doesn't have to follow the exact script of something else to be any good. If it was the same I would just read the damn book.
This is the first I've ever heard about the graphic novel, so some nonce refusing to put his name on it is about as relevant as a turd - the film was class.
Bloody literary elitists.
No I didn't read the graphic novel because I'm not a complete loser.

Green Street has possibly the worst acting I've ever seen in a film, and to be honest I would rather Elijah Wood didn't try and play a football hooligan in future.

28 Weeks Later - good film, but nowhere near up to the standards of the first. Still has some excellent jumpy moments and some great tension, as well as a cast that is pretty suiting. The storyline is a little obvious, but worth watching. 6.5/10
Outlaw - I really enjoyed this, enjoyed the twist near the end of the film and thought the cast was excellent. I would have liked a little more character development, especially around Sean Bean's character, but Bob Hoskins was excellent in the movie and played his part well. Very obviously in similar style to Nick Loves previous films (Football Factory and The Business) and fans of those films are sure to enjoy. Just try not to expect a deep film because it isn't - but never tries to be. It is what it is - a good mans movie with some black humour and gory fights. 8/10.

Transformers
It was a good popcorn movie. It was hilarious in bits, and that Anthony (fat black actor) is always good for a laugh or two.
But now, I'll transform into Transformer Fanatic....
http://www.audiosparx.com/sa/archive/Cartoons/Transformers/Transform-sound/15411
I have some solutions to solve the problems of the film: less humans more transformers; less scenes with humans and more with Transformers; less talking from humans more talking from Transformers. Optimus Prime was great. Megatron wasn't recognisable as far as I was concerned and it's a pity Frank Welker wasn't doing the voice to lend some credibility. Starscream was giving little screen-time, and neither was any of other robots. I disliked the whole look of the Transformers to be honest: they looked all the same, and when two robots were battling, you couldn't figure out what was going on to be honest. An another gripe I had was the duel between Prime and Megatron: the kid kills Megatron. It was utter ****e: these two are sworn enemies with a past blacks and whites couldn't hope to match. There relationship was always complex.
Best line was, as Prime looks down at Megatron, Cullen works his magic and says:
"You left me no choice, brother."
Peter Cullen is a legend. That is all.

And now, I come back with tail between my legs.
Transformers - simply, absolutely, superb. I coughed up, ate humble pie, and on the recommendation of people here and my girlfriend, deleted my downloaded copy and paid to see it at my local multiplex. MY GOD. Wickedly funny, a plot that is a background to badass fighting robots but still holds up, well-cast actors (especially for the humourous parts) and simply staggering animation, effects and ear-melting sound. I came into this film as somebody that had never ever seen Transformers before, never played with the toys or anything, and have come out of it like a small child wanting to get home and play with his Optimus Prime toy. Only let down by a weak final battle, and fight scenes that made it hard to tell what was going on aside from metal flying everywhere. The final sequence was awesome until the Megatron/Prime battle, where nothing really happened and it seemed like a massive injustice was done with the way Megatron was ended. Aside from that, a brilliant movie and well worth the entrance fee. The voice work on the Transformers was fantastic, especially Optimus Prime - a gravelly yet reassuringly smooth voice and perfectly suited. Highlight of the film for me was the garden scene with Sam searching his room - very very funny, utterly rediculous (in a good way) and very well animated.
Everyone should be watching this film - cast doubts aside, open your minds, and you will enjoy this movie through and through. Rest assured that this is a film that can only be done justice when you're sitting in the middle of a packed cinema with stupidly loud speakers and a screen so big it hurts your neck. A downloaded copy, no matter how good, simply will not do this film any justice. And once again, I've never seen Transformers before. I couldn't take my eyes away, lost all sense of time, and came out of it buzzing.
Awesome.

Blood Diamond - 8/10
I personally think Leonardo DiCaprio is a class actor. Not many people agree but I think as he has got older he has really become good at fitting into roles. And I think he is brilliant in this film. On the whole its a good film, nothing epic but definatly worth a rent, and I think I will be watching it again. Stereotypical comflict diamond plot thats easy to follow and understand. Good effects and reasonable ending, although very predictable. As I said, in my opinion the acting was very good. I reccomend.

Thought it was a refreshing angle to have for a horror, with some good acting ("imo") from Both the lead actor (John Cusack) and the good old Samuel L. Jackson. The film was not really scary but more jumpy if that makes any sense, there's a few moments you really cant predict that get you lol.
All in all i enjoyed the film, as it wasn't trying to hard and was something different, would recommend seeing it at the Cinema.

Because they are all prepared for bombs on planes nowadays, they don't have the screening technology to search out snakes. I'm sure that was explained.
I hate CG effects. I'm considering getting a petition going to get classic stop motion effects back into the mainstream. Ray Harryhausen would be turning in his grave!

Ye I agree.
I saw some people moaning about how it rips everything else off but who cares, it's better to watch it as a standalone film and not spend your time thinking about other horrors.
Also @ Kon Blades of Glory looks awful! And Timberland is a great music producer (although I havnt' seen him act)
And the snakes on a plane bit doesn't make any sense, i thought about how they could just put a bomb on baord but it was quite funny anyway.

I don't think even the milk the cash-cow reason could explain why they made this film? Seen it all before, and with more panache, decades ago. Action sequences were few and far between.

Bleach
Usually anime films based on the tv series involve dull storylines and you never really care how the thing ends up, and is usally pretty damn crap anyway. However Bleach suprised me, great ending, animation was brilliant, took the drawing up a notch or two, would actually consider buying this one on dvd, solid storyline, nothing groundbreaking, so I would recommend anyone who has not checked it out yet (who likes anime and the series) to do so.

I thought it was awful...although i'd rather watch a good horror or action movie so maybe that's why I hated it so much...because it certainly wasn't scary and there was more action in Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs.
It was good at times but was just a bit boring, and was a real let down at the end!
Did you not think the ending was absolutely awful? It just all of a sudden ended, what happened to rest of the movie?! I was told the ending was absolutely awful before having to watch it with the gf, but I really wasn't expecting it to be that bad and was shocked to see the ending was terrible...I was left thinking wtf just happened...why did it just end lol?! She clocks the days and when hes going to die, forgives him and wants to get their relationship back on track, but fails in preventing him from dying. She realised the most important aspect of her life was her family and thats what she wanted to fight for...then ends up with another bun in the oven. What else could they have done at the end?

Office Space [1999] - 6/10 : Quite a funny film, doesn't tick any of the great film boxes but very funny in places, if you get a chance download it , do it as its worth a watch.
Shoot 'em up [out now] 3/10: I can not believe how bad this film was, i had such hopes for it as well and i wanted it to be good, even half way through i thought it doesn't matter the rest of the film will be better ... But it wasn't.
It is funny in places and the action is good in places but the trouble is the whole from start to finish , scene by scene is completely unrealistic to the point your laughing at the film rather than with it.

Friday Night Lights
Checked this out after hearing that Explosions in the Sky's music was featured throughout. It's a very poignant film about high-school American Football which is like 'Any Given Sunday' II. Editing is a bit off and all over the place, and they didn't quite use EITS' music as effective as they should have, but 'Your hand in Mine' at the half-time speech was perfect. Other than that, the human element carries the film, and particularly Boobie Miles' journey in the film. Check it out for the great music, and unflinching look (i.e. non-Hollywood) at sport at its base mechanics.

Core was an ok watch for when you ae bored, anyhoo the film I finally got round to watching was 'the pursuit of happiness (happyness)', great film, one of th best roles I have seen Will Smith Play, did seem to drag a bit at the odd spot but a flm based on true events in situations like this is always quite powerful, one of the first meaningful films which has really got across so much. Great morales to it of course too.

The Invasion
Pleasantly surprised first of all, because I had two hours to kill and bought the ticket without knowing what the film was, about or who was in it. It was alright, but suffered from trying to be two things at once. At times, it was trying to tackle the issue of Iraq, the human condition, and war, and others, it was a dumb zombie flick. There were some great scenes (when the decision to choose which side Kidman wants to be on is hard and the Russian ambassador meeting/dinner party), and absolutely terrible scenes with sentimental moral preaching about humans and worse than that, the pseudo-zombie scenes.
The message of the film was war didn't solve the crisis; science and scientists did.
Either the novelist, the screenwriter or director, or all have fixations with their Mothers and hatred for their Father, because the film hammers home the protective nature of women and the destructiveness of men a lot. And the speech Tucker gives about his being behind his own son in his Wife's life gives a blatant clue.

The Bourne Ultimatum
A great popcorn film, with a few streaks of intelligence: best blockbuster in a while. The fight scene in Tangier is brilliant; I haven't seen something like that in a while and it was a pure fight. The only complaints I would have is the dodgy camerawork, which just make moving imagery a blur sometimes, and the fact that the film attempts to absolve the government of blame for the CIA. The line from Pamela Landy, "It's not us" is blatantly intended to read and hear as "It's not US" ? meaning it's not the US that's commissioned the CIA to administer these programs and carry out these orders, it's rogue agents and rogue directors going against their masters ? yeah right. And as if going to court answering to senators (heh) would make everything better. Other than that dross, it's a fine film.

insane, the first wasnt great, but this one made up for it. What sort of a comment is "should never of brought em together" are you mad, its a match made in heaven.
But if they want to make a GREAT film, they need to make the film based on the game avp2, now that story is great.
I dont get the ending tho, after watching it again tonight, i still dont see where there going with the next film, what sort of comment is "but this is not meant for this world" anyone explain this ?

"but this is not meant for this world" anyone explain this ?
Found these 2 views via google;
"The full name of the company that Ripply was empoleed with during the first three Alien movies was “Weyland Yutani” it was never refered to as such but its written on the walls in a few scenes in Aleins and is also seen on the paper work a the start. So that where the tie in or the asian woman being called Miss Yutani at the end was all about."
I was thinking about this after seeing the movie. My guess is that Yutani is some sort of Global Corporation that has government links. They investigate/research weird things that turn up...ie alien weapons. Maybe they are even a "supranational" organisation, ie they are bigger than governments.....conspiricy theory? The Colonel at the end of the movie took they predators gun to the Yutani women, not some government research lab. Perhaps Yutani is like a secret UN type organisation "running the world"?
As for the tie up with the Weyland company, I would think that they may have corporate spies that found out about the aliens (or heard of the them when debriefing the last surviving women) and then maybe took over the company to get the information?
edit: and;
i think everyone has overlooked that this was said
Asian chick:
Your world is not ready for this kind of technology
Ponce colonel:
this isnt for our world though is it miss yutani.
So what world is it for, and maybe shes from another world, because in Aliens ressurection, they all say earth ..what a sh!t hole, as if theyd never even been there, unless they grew up on a coloney, so maybe theres humans on another planet but to us there still classed as aliens
And we all know that aliens helped the aztecs and egyptians, to me its an excelent story line.

first two are good explanations, the 3rd not so much. I thought it was just the weyland corp, but ob not, the first AVP with mr weyland, and ob she must work for weyland group, but takes over it after his death, alas weyland yutani.
but this still dont explain the line at the end, ill think more about it.

Cloverfield: 4/10
Sure it has good FX, but thats about it in my opinion. Shoddy acting, no real story line with no real point, the blair witch style filming didnt work for me.
It was good at being what it is, a cheap horror film, but thats it. People running around screaming, lots of blood and fire. How people can give this 9s and 10s is beyond me quite honestly. It is an average film at a push.

This film was amazing, the intence feeling you ot from the film was second to none, it did everything a Thriller should do, and more. The story towards the end got a tad bit confusing, yet it didn't matter. If you haven't seen it then you should do.

Be kind rewind - 5/10.
Was so disappointed with this movie. Mos def just isn't a comedic actor!
There were some hilarious bits in the film, but they were far too wide-spread to counter a back story which tried to be realistic but also at the same time unbelievably far fetched.
Poor turn out from a jack black movie. But people will go to see it on it's hype alone.

Shichinin no samurai [Seven Samurai] +spoilers+
Absolutely brilliant. So effecting from any viewpoint, and the film constantly throws you with black and white colours only to reveal that those concepts just are illusions of the mind painted by our own perspective. The pathos of the remaining samurai is masterful. And another thing, it's absolutely hilarious. Just go watch it.

War - 5/10
A few problems with this film. First off, at the risk of sounding racist, I got extremely confused between which triad member was which. More than once I found myself thinking 'Wasn't that the chinese/japanese guy you got killed 7 hours ago?'
Which brings me onto my next point, length. It is only 1 hour 45 mins, but I personally found it too long. Maybe thats my short attention span, but I felt it dragged on.
The main twist was INCREDIBLY predictable, in fact I predicted it about 10mins into the film and I'm not even joking. I don't think that it was thought out well, because no twist should be that obvious, else it isn't a twist.
I thought the acting was very average. Jason Statham did a good job, and Jet Li played the emotionless assasin well to a certain degree, but everyone else seemed very much 'another action film actor'.
Bassicly, its trying to be what it isn't: This film IS decent if you just want some tits blood and explosions without having to think about anything more than where you left your beer. However it IS NOT a film with a good (or believable) plot, clever twists, and ocar-winning performances.
Extremely mediocre film.

If you want to see a film with the most real style of hacking, forget Swordfish, The Net and all these other films where "hackers" work in graphically superb programs and can hack government server in few seconds. Broderick, working in his text-only mode, using social-engineering and having good abilities handling primitive electric devices is nearest the real world's "hacking", at least in his period.

Boring for the word 'Go', Appauling acting, **** plot twist, rubbish story and an epic failure.

Quite the opposite to the above, Exiting from the word 'Go', Superb acting, not really a plot twist which let the film down as the whole plot was pretty linear, the story itself was pretty beasty and it's a true success. Not a scratch on Iron Man though ;)

Hancock 7.5 /10
Thought the film was one brilliant up until the point of the big twist, for me i just didn't buy it and from that point on it really ruined what could of been one of Will Smiths best ever films.
Still having said that, the film was far to enjoyable for a good hour to not go and see because of the ending, i would pay to go see it again and that's about as high a compliant as i can give as i never really pay to see films in the first place.

I didn't buy the fact that she was his wife. I thought that she could have been his Mother or older sister, because it would be logical in the context of the film. The drawings he drew on the prison wall was of a parent and child.
Last half was plain ****, but I kind of expected it. Not enough meat on the bone of the story to make an action summer-blockbluster. Would have made a better film if they fleshed out the first half. The thunder storm fight sequence was just silly.

Dark knight 9.9/10 for me.
Absolutely superb film from start to finish. Definitely not quite the holy grail of a film which is why I refuse to give it a full 10. The only criticism I can come up with is that it was slightly too long. But when your only complaint is that the awesomeness didn't end early enough then you know you don't really have a criticism at all.
Superb action combined with much better depth than any batman film before it. Heath Ledger was absolutely flawless as the joker and it is almost a pity that he is going to be given an oscar simply as a good will gesture when he would have earned one anyway. Loved the Harvey Dent storyline, the clearly predictable nature of it acts as a superb nod to fans of the previous films, especially to someone who enjoys being smug (which I do) knowing what his 'nickname' is going to be.
Great all round film, probably the best of the year. If you haven't yet seen it then stop reading and book at ticket at your cinema now.
Now!

Dark Knight is probably one of the greatest blockbluster films of all time, along with the likes of 'Heat', 'Star Wars' et cetera. It was complex, but for me, it's debt to morality stopped it from becoming something close to the works of Kubrick, Oshii, Kurosawa, et al. I would have liked to have seen the guy in the non-criminal boat turn the key and blow up the criminal boat, especially after the convict tossed the trigger out of the boat. It would have been a great statement in the context of the film. At times, you wish Nolan wasn't bound to a limited age ceritificate; you wish that it was an adult film in the sense that Two-Face should've killed Gordon's child, the violence of the film should've been more in-your-face. But you have to live with that. The Joker was sick, and that scene with him hanging upside down at the end was just brilliantly shot - I thought they should have went with Hamill, but Ledger was perfect.
Great film. Lived up to its enormous hype.
