XL UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3 DUEL RULES:
The tournament will follow a double elimination format, whereby a loss will demote you to the losers bracket. A further loss in the losers bracket will result in your elimination from the tournament.
Fixtures will consist of a best of 1 map series until the Winners Bracket Final, whereby they become a best out of 3 map series.
Host will be determined by coin toss prior to start of the fixture.
All best of 3 map series will be hosted on dedicated server.
The player with the highest frag count will win the map.
Map rotation is pre-defined by Matchbox360 XL admin and stated at the event.
No starting game until the referee has approved the beginning of the game. Games started without the approval of the referee will be restarted.
If the players meeting in the final have not yet played each other and the player coming from the losers bracket wins the game, then the Winners Bracket Final maps will be played to determine the result of the game since both players would have only lost once.
It is the responsibility of both players to ensure the result is reported correctly to the Matchbox360 XL UT3 admin.
During the game all Super Power Ups will be enabled however several Pick Ups will be banned (please see below)
All fixtures will be played using the following settings:
Hosting Options:
Server Type: Listen
Max Players 2
Min Players: 2
Private Slots: 0
Goal Score: 0
Time Rules: 15 minutes
Map List:
Deck
Diesel
Heat Ray
Sentinel
Shangri’La
Restricted Items:
The following items are banned from being picked up or used:
Double AMP / uDamage
Beserker
Invisability
Redeemer
Deathwalker (vehicle)
Please note: any player using or collecting restricted Pickups or vehicles will receive -5 score reduction for each violation.
General Rules:
All players must end play immediately after the 15 minute duration and place pads on table whilst results are collected.
No quitting out of a game in progress. If you quit out of a duel you will not be allowed to rejoin.
Any performance of known glitches or map exploits is not allowed.
Any player found accessing areas outside the normal boundaries of the map will be disqualified.
No watching another players screen.
In the case of a hardware malfunction, the game will be restarted if less than 5 minutes has passed. If more than 5 minutes has elapsed then the tournament referee will make an informed decision based on the scores at the time of disconnection.
Any player found tampering with hardware will be disqualified.
If players are more than 5 minutes late for a scheduled match then they forfeit the game.
If a game is started without the referee's approval then the game will be restarted.
Breakage of any rules may result in a disqualification and is at the referee’s discretion.
Xbox 360 Controllers:
Only WIRED Xbox 360 control pads may be used. Wireless pads are NOT allowed to be used.
Any controller with turbo or wireless capabilities is not allowed to be used.
3rd party controllers with turbo, auto or macro functions are not allowed.
Keyboard & mouse adapters are not allowed.
Code of Conduct:
Players must use the same gamertag registered for the duration of all XL tournaments.
No tampering with or removal of any cables or associated hardware.
Players may not remove the audio splitter from the back of the iiyama monitors.
No excessive use of vulgar language by players or spectators.
No use of vulgar language directed at an opposing player.
Abusive, discriminative, racist or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.
No excessive taunting or celebration by players.
No communication between players and spectators during a match.
No intentional forfeiting or manipulating tournament results.
No unsportsmanlike physical contact.
No throwing objects at another person.
Verbal abuse of XL staff will not be tolerated.
Any player or spectator found to be in breech of these rules will receive a warning.
A second warning may result in disqualification or removal from the venue at the admin discretion.

You can pick up Shield belt (+100 armour) but all other Super Pickups listed above are banned including invisibility (which isnt actually a "belt").

Kon Few Questions:
Firstly are we Allowed to Shut our opponents in the "Poison Room" on Boiharzard?
Will there be a Penalty if a Player is Junted (Blown into) into a "Restricted Item" This is a Unvoluntry action you cant prevent it. Guns such as Rockets, Flank & bioRifle cause this effect.

Leyton, do you mean forcing them back with fire into the poison room when it's about to close so they get a death? Or is there some sort of spawn trap involving it? As far as I'm aware on Bio there are no spawns in the poison room. This could easily be made a out of bounds position on the map, considering it is pretty much out of the way anyway. As already stated, Boffy will be looking into these issues including the maps highlighted.
What are the main issues you have with Biohazard?
Obviously not all maps listed above will necessarily be used and Biohazard is the only one not actually listed in the proposed map pool from yourself. If you could explain why you think it is not suitable for Duel then we can take this into consideration and remove it from the list accordingly.
Main Issue? This map does not belong into the Duel Mappool, its better then RisingSun no doubt but still. Too much Rocket and Biorifle spamming. This map is played by mostly 2 weapons. Rocket Launcher and Biorifle, which should not be the thinking behind the Duels.
No harsh feelings but, Konspiracy just compare Biohazard with the other maps in the line up.
You should recognise it on your own whats missing, and why it shouldnt be played in Duel.

TBH mate I havent had chance to play UT3 for more than an hour or so since release as I'm extremely busy organising this whole event. As such my opinion doesnt really count on this subject and why I have requested other staff members to create these rules. I am therefore completely impartial and would like you to explain why you disagree with it being in the map list. I have no qualms in removing it if its considered not suitable.

1. there is only 1 armor stated in the middle low area which is the shield belt.
2. This map is dominated by Rocket and Bio spams.
3. Spawnlucks all over the place, the player who has the better spawn, has a confident run.
4. Too Close coridors for a fight.
5. 3 Armors are missing, at least they could have implemented 1 50armor, but its missing.
6. The Gaschamber is funny i know, but maps with such things should be banned.
I know you are bussy, well atleast i can imagine that, you should let the community decide weather to take the map or ban it from the Pool.

I forgot to add something to the rules:
Player A gives up, because of high difference on the points, pritty logic, if its a good player and he is 15:0 in the lead, you cant come back in the next 5 minutes, because he is having the full control of the map, then the next map is played and Player B has the choice of the 3rd map, if it comes down to that.

We always listen to the community for all titles so good to have some ppl on UT3 who know what they're talking about and can back it up with justification :cool:
The additional rule suggestions arent really required tbh as map picks will be predetermined by staff and we will have dedicated servers in best of 3 map fixtures.
How are you going to solve problems like, that, you would need a Referee infront of every monitor to watch it, or atleast specting ingame. Or do you trust players in that sort of arrangement? I like the idea of Dedicated servers, it should also be used online, but on LAN its more likely a must have i think.
Still a live stream for the XL is missing, id like to watch the UT3 duels live then :)

There will be refs keeping an eye on things but we will also rely on players to follow the code of conduct by not picking up banned Super pickups. Obviously of a player calls out that opponent has picked up a banned item then refs can simply check with the pickup icons in left corner.
Dedicated servers will only be used in final stages of tournament when we have enough consoles to allow it without impacting the schedule. This will also remove any host advantage.
More than happy to do a live stream if your happy to pay for the equipment ;)

I'm sorry, but why not eliminate the use of many of those banned power-ups by using the No Super Pick-ups mutator which is available in a Player match?
I don't think it eliminates them all (i think redeemer would stay) but having not personally used this mutator yet myself, would that not solve the problem?
Initially i thought it might remove all pick ups, but the fact that it says no super pick-ups implies otherwise.

I think you should ban those taunts while in a duel, as you can see you can glitch/slide around with it, and it breaks your concentration. So my question is to ban or forbidd it during a duel game.

tbh i dont think many ppl thoguht this map woudl eb picked up the ithers are great this one is terrible.
as QORE said theres only one sheild so its not about timing really, timing doesnt involve watching one sheild of health it involves doing runs around the map picking u everything and coming back bang on time ready for the main power-ups, this doesnt happen on bio all you do is you camp top with rockets and drop down every 58secs. theres no real come back for the losing person because of this.
all otehr maps there are small armours that the losing player can get and try and distrubt the pattern of the winning player, on bio this doesnt happen, the map is also to small to escape from any 1v1 because theres just no were to go to get your health back up.
IMO take out bio and the map pool i can see bio being way to random with ppl just whoreing the alt fire on bio gun because the corridors are to small to avoid it.

Would be a good choice to take it out of the Mappool

i dont count anything to do witht he bio gun as skillful, by far the most skillful maps are the ones were you have to control a full map not just rockets and what is direct under you like bio.
most skillful map imo is sentinal hands down.

sentinal > any map. I agree with dev on this not because he was my first duel and we only played sentinal lol but sentinal is just an amazing map, You can do jumps,no power ups such as berserker,invisability etc. But there is U damage but the U damage is in a place were it cant be picked up easy :D
Well i prefer, Deck and HeatRay, long range fights ftw :)
More important is. big areas dont allow much Flak spamming, which seems to be very common on the xbox. I hate that. Get to use of the other weapons aswell. and stop spamming those Flak pimaries for gods sake :P

well ye there both gd but sentinal is the best for duel its the right size i think heatray and deck are a bit to big Deck its like going round in a circle lmao.
Cant, too short for organising the whole thing, maybe for the next XL if there will still be UT3.

Don't take this personally, but that is the biggest load of horse **** iver ever heard.
It's pretty logical that you will see much larger wins on maps where you can get more stacked because of there being more armor, health, and a bigger array of weapons.

(if picked up no matter coincidently or on purpose player needs to stand still until the pickup(s) wear(s) off, suicide or gets killed/spawned)
-No Vehicles
-Player Models: Iron Guard, Liandri only
-In-Game Taunts forbidden
-Glitching\Hiding in or behind walls/Mapborders forbidden

That's a good idea easy having a best of 3 maps or most frags in two maps so that it gives both players a greater fighting chance

Have you read through the rules on first page? There were no issues reported from the players who entered last time and was a really good tournament.

Yeah the rules seem pretty solid, if it is best of 2 then obviously players get to host one map each. If it's best of 3 then host 1 map each then whoever has the greater score over the two maps should host the third. I think this would be the fairest way to run map fixtures

Yeah its nice, I just want to make sure about this player model issue an ingame Taunts. on PC CompMOD the tauntmove is disabled, but on 360 we can´t do that so just stop using the taunts.
Playermodels have some issues too. For Krall its like in Halo3 MLG with the spartan and elite, headposition headshothitbox seems to be strange/ Necris Models got mostly no team color. So IronGuard Liandri models only pls.
It´s pretty tough I think that you get a -5 score for picking up u damage coincidently. Why not stand still or suicide until it wears off? Oponnent will kill him to 99% in that time anyway so you already got your -1 penalty or enemy uses time whoring the items so you´re definitely punished by this but -5 score you cann never evaluate that again playing against an even Opponent. It decides the whole match cause of a very minor mistake seems not to fair.
Mappool of page 1 is great just like mine without Defiance I´m fine with that.

Sounds good as for the player models. Gd idea.
As for the punishment, I think it's okay. I've tried out the maps and you wouldn't get any power up by mistake unless you wanted it. For example the spawns, they're all fine unless you jump on Deck when you spawn near/above the dmg amp. one, but I usually don't jump towards that powerup when spawning.
And the Darkwalker (not deathwalker as stated in the first post), well, you could simply use it to make the -5 score good again, lol. Doesn't harm you the -5 actually, unless your opponent is good at hiding. ;)
Anyways, I'm happy to play some 360 folk again late november, as I'm currently practising vs bots on PS3.. and that certainly aint the best way to practise.. v_v

We dont do seedings from online for XL, so UT3 Duel seedings will be based off XL Summer. Any players who did not attend will be seeded at random.
Might do a UT3 Duel tournament online before XL but wont finish in time.
