XL GEARS OF WAR 4v4 EXECUTION TOURNAMENT RULES:
The tournament will follow a double elimination format, whereby a loss will demote your team to the losers bracket. A further loss in the losers bracket will result in your teams’ elimination from the tournament.
Fixtures will consist of a best of 3 map series until the Winners Bracket Final, whereby they become a best out of 5 map series.
The first team to score 4 rounds will win the map.
Teams will be seeded based on player performance at XL4. Teams and players that did not attend XL4 will be seeded randomly.
Map rotation is pre-defined by Matchbox360 XL admin and all maps are to be played in order.
The higher seeded team must choose to act as the higher or lower seed for the purpose of host choice. Hosting choices must be decided with the referee before the series is played.
In a best of 3 map series, the higher seeded team will choose to host map 1 or 2. The lower seeded team will host the other. The host of map 3 will be determined by which ever team wins the most rounds in the previous maps played.
In a best of 5 map series, the higher seeded team will choose to host one map. The lower seeded team will select 2 maps to host. The remaining map will be hosted by the higher seeded team. The host of map 5 will be determined by which ever team wins the most rounds in the previous maps played.
Please note: should teams be tied on round count then the higher seeded team will host map 3 or 5 respectively.
The non-host team will choose to play as COG or Locust for each map.
Headcount Rule:
In the event of teams drawing 2 rounds per map, the third and subsequent tied rounds thereafter will be decided on headcount.
No starting games until all players’ status has been set to ready.
Games started without the approval of the referee will be restarted.
In the event of teams having previously met in the competition the matches will expand to a best of 7, with the team who won going into the series retaining their previous wins (e.g. a team beat another by 2-0 they will take a 2-0 lead the second time they meet). If teams previously met in a 5 game series then the matches will expand to a best of 11. The 6th map will be the map that hasn’t previously been played.
If the teams meeting in the final have not yet played each other and the team coming from the losers bracket wins the game, then the Winners Bracket Final maps will be played to determine the result of the game since both teams would have only lost once. The team without a loss will choose to have higher seed host privileges for the Finals or Winners Bracket Finals set of maps prior to the start of the game.
It is the responsibility of both team captains to ensure the result is reported correctly to the Matchbox360 XL Gears of War admin.
You may register 1 x Coach for your team prior to the start of the tournament.

The official map rotation will be available at XL.
General Rules:
Weapon slides are allowed.
No leaving the normal boundaries of a map.
No Invisible Man.
No Invisible Weapons.
No Infinite Grenades.
No shooting while roadie running.
No use of the Chainsaw on yourself.
No land surfing.
No skydiving.
No air walking.
No instant chainsaw.
No cancelling the chainsaw animation.
No performing the chainsaw animation with a weapon other than the lancer.
Any performance of known glitches or map exploits other than those stated will be classed as cheating and appropriate action will be taken.
Breaking any rules listed above will result in a forfeit of the game.
In the case of a hardware malfunction, the game will be restarted if less than 5 minutes has passed. If more than 5 minutes has elapsed then the tournament referee will make an informed decision based on the scores at the time of disconnection.
Any player found tampering with hardware will be disqualified.
If players are more than 5 minutes late for a scheduled match then they forfeit the game.
If a game is started without the referee's approval then the game will be restarted.
No quitting out of a game in progress. If you quit out of a team game, the game is forfeited even if your team wins.
Breakage of any rules may result in a disqualification and is at the referee’s discretion.
When a player has died the controller must be placed on the table with the camera focused on a team-mates point of view. Anyone found cycling through cameras will receive a warning. 2 warnings will result in a forfeit.
Xbox 360 Controllers:
Only WIRED Xbox 360 control pads may be used. Wireless pads are NOT allowed to be used.
Any controller with turbo or wireless capabilities is not allowed to be used.
3rd party controllers with turbo, auto or macro functions are not allowed.
Keyboard & mouse adapters are not allowed.
Code of Conduct:
Players must use the same gamertag registered for the duration of all XL tournaments.
No tampering with or removal of any cables or associated hardware.
Players may not remove the audio splitter from the back of the iiyama monitors.
No excessive use of vulgar language by players, coaches or spectators.
No use of vulgar language directed at an opposing player.
Abusive, discriminative, racist or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.
No excessive taunting or celebration by players or coaches.
No communication between players and spectators during a match.
No intentional forfeiting or manipulating tournament results.
No unsportsmanlike physical contact.
No throwing objects at another person.
Coaches may not watch opposing teams monitors or projection.
Verbal abuse of XL staff will not be tolerated.
Any player, coach or spectator found to be in breech of these rules will receive a warning.
A second warning may result in disqualification or removal from the venue at the admin discretion.
