MatchBox360 are disappointed to announce that today we received confirmation from Codemasters that the agreed support for Race Driver: GRID to be featured at XL on 25-27th July has been cancelled due to lack of budget and reallocation of funds by their marketing team.
Unfortunately this has an immediate impact on both MatchBox360 XL and the gamers attending. The direct consequence is that Race Driver: GRID has been removed from the official MatchBox360 XL tournament line-up, as we are unable to support the title without the consoles and prize find which were to be provided by Codemasters. We will however endeavour to provide Race Driver: GRID as freeplay for all you racing fans during the weekend.
MatchBox360 would like to apologise to any players who were looking forward to competing in this tournament, however we would like to assure you that we have done everything within our power to avoid this and the final decision was out of our control. Obviously the late confirmation of this news is particularly frustrating for all involved, and MatchBox360 will be taking appropriate action to prevent this from being repeated at future events.
The good news for everyone attending MatchBox360 XL on 25-27th July is that we are pleased to confirm that the highly anticipated Unreal Tournament III will be available on freeplay during the 3 day XL weekend, and we will be taking your feedback in order to help determine whether it will be added to the official XL tournament line-up at future events. :cool:
