IGN (http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/753/753402p1.html) review Lost Planet:
[quote]Lost Planet's campaign mode places you in the role of Wayne, a man whose last memory is of his father being killed by a large and dangerous Akrid named Green Eye before being knocked into a coma.
The action in Lost Planet takes place either on foot or from within one of the aforementioned vital suits. The gameplay gimmick that helps to keep Lost Planet fresh is the thermal energy bar. In this frozen planet, you're required to kill or be killed

Been looking into it myself, seems like a classic 360 game with the SP basically being a training campaign for online. The grapling hook is supposed to make things more tactical but I doubt it will.
I will pick it up along with Shadowrun and Mass effect those seem much more intresting to me. FPSes with magic and flying, who couldn't like that over a measily grapling hook?

The single player was alright in the demo, but multiplayer was rather limited, and felt like another crack pot at just adding multiplayer for the sake of it.
A possible pick up for twenty quid.

The first time I saw a glimpse of this on a 360 montage downloaded from the marketplace I thought it looked outstanding! However the more I see of it the more it dissappoints me. I played the campaign demo and was quite impressed although I noticed the handling issues stated above and they kinda put me off. I am yet to play the multiplayer demo but i hear good things about it so maybe I'll give it a bash. I was adamant on getting it on first sights but now I'm undecided, I want a new game but don't know if this should be it.

Well like i said before will definately be a classic but i too will be looking to pick this up on the cheap later on in the year. I find it funny the way they go on about the grapple though. Capcom have done an amazing job when it comes to the amount of uses it has and tbh they are just being petty and almost looking for something to pin down as another flaw.
So i would say its a must buy for anyone who wants an amazing single player game that will probably warrant two plays through so maximum of 28 hours in there.

If you're looking for a great way to shake those wintertime blues, look no further than Lost Planet. While the game's definitely not perfect, it introduces some interesting gameplay mechanics to keep the action steady from start to finish, and it sports some truly excellent graphics. It's not going to win any awards for its storyline (I still don't know who some of the characters are), but when viewed as a series of standalone missions, it's a blast.

For a while, Lost Planet seems like a great fit for lovers of arcade-style action games. Taking on a gigantic snow worm -- think Dune's sand worms -- is one of this gen's greatest "Oh s***" moments so far. But the game gets away from these roots far too soon and often, delving into middling mech territory with brain-dead humans broken up by rote boss battles and a forgettable story. Sleek graphics and a fast start can't mask what's an entertaining but ultimately disposable diversion.

If your looking for a good sold single player game this is it, im loving the singple player atm more than any other game but the MP side of things lets it down, its laggy and during the game it doesnt tell you whos winning or the time limit left but it can be fun at times, played the MP last night for a while and its alot of fun but not the best.
EDIT: Changed my mine completely about the MP, its brilliant. :)
