A ninth person has been arrested in Birmingham over what senior security sources say was an alleged plot to kidnap a member of the armed forces.

Police made the arrest this afternoon on a motorway in the city area. Eight men were arrested earlier following a series of morning raids....

...A total of 12 addresses in the Sparkhill, Washwood Heath, Kingstanding and Edgbaston areas have been sealed off and are being searched following raids at about 0400 GMT, say police.

When I was a kid we had An Irishman, a Scotsman and a Englishman Jokes...No one complained but If I made a similar one obviously changing it people would be crying their hearts out and placards and everything.

Just don't take things serious or personal that's what jokes are giving people the ability to laugh at themselves and others.

If your wondering I don't have a line, I jump over it all the time. Like yesterday when I commented that a 14 year old looked sexy in that tight top. Just some people are afaird to laugh at what clear is a joke and has no actual harm intent in it, which is you Mazzy and Pirate.

If Muslims hate us for anything it's for the Draconian Laws that are being brought in to keep an eye on the Innocent and alot of the time Innocent Muslims, not because some Comedian made a joke at their beliefs or I laughed at people for judging one persons actions on a whole section of the community or ethnic group.

The one great thing that this nation has is the ability to laugh at itself and when we finally lose that, we might aswell stop living. As I like to say "If you can't laugh at yourself, What can you laugh at".

I'll tell you what, Big D, i agree with pretty much everything you have said in this thread. I have had enough of racism, and not for the reasons which come to peoples mind when i say that. But instead, because people these days feel they have to walk on egg shells trying not to offend anyone. It's these people who are the real racists among us, the ones who believe that the minorities in the country need protecting from people saying something that might be construed as racist.

You really have raised my very low expectation of humanity these days to see past what the media tells them and actually have their own opinion and not be afraid to express it.

Oh and mazzy, these kind of threads are exactly what forums are for! Im not sure what you see as useless about this thread but as far as i see it, it raises points of current affairs as well as a veiw point on racism. I would be quite happy to say that as far as im concerned this is one of the most interesting threads i have seen on these forums for a long time.
