MatchBox360 XL continues to set the standard for Xbox and Xbox 360 eSports tournaments throughout the UK and Europe in 2007. We are delighted to announce the addition of the Omega Sektor to the portfolio of premier venues that will be utilised for XL.

Located in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, the Omega Sektor will become the largest dedicated LAN centre of its kind in the UK. With approx 400 PCs and Xbox 360 consoles available over 2 floors on site, MatchBox360 XL events at the Omega Sektor will be a gamers paradise with even more consoles and games at your fingertips!

The state of the art venue is the ideal opportunity for MatchBox360 XL to showcase exclusive game titles, as we will be featuring more Xbox 360 gaming tournaments throughout the year including Gears of War, Pro Evolution Soccer, Rainbow 6 Vegas, and more!!! The Omega Sektor will also feature fully customised gaming zones, a TV studio with tricast facilities enabling MatchBox360 XL event feeds to be broadcast live, and a number of screens around the venue displaying live feeds. You will also be able to watch the players in action on stage with 8 screens displaying gameplay as it happens from each players viewpoint!

With an onsite cafe providing light refreshments, the Omega Sektor also provides MatchBox360 XL with the perfect city centre location with Birmingham’s high street stores and services right on the doorstep...with food outlets just 60 seconds away the gaming action including:

McDonalds
Burger King
Kentucky Fried Chicken
Pizza Hut
Subway
Greggs

Oh yeah...and for those in need of a quick pint, there’s also a pub directly opposite the venue! :D

I just got a call to say the Omega Sektor was just featured on BBC Midlands Today News but I only caught the last few seconds of it. I'd imagine it will be repeated this evening so tune in at 6:30pm if you're local. Will post a link up for all those outside the Midlands. :cool:

nope, it shouldn't grad, more people that it can fit in, the more income is, so you don't need to pay as much, so it sort of balances itself out really

By the looks of things they will be changing the date of XL to go with the opening of the venue.

Well I don't know exactly but what I do know is that I and a few other people (maybe everyone?) here would rather be in that new venue so they may delay the event so that XL can be one of the first tournaments held in that venue.

Or maybe they will host another event in the Toute Suite and have a 3rd XL at that new venue to satisfy us, I'm not too sure mate it's just my theory on this. :)

i see what you're saying, but personally i would hope that XL wasn't one of the first events at the venue. you don't want to be the event that acts as the pilot - you want someone else to fall victim to the inevitable bugs and glitches!

The place is built for gaming. I doubt XL will have any major problems. You always get the small problems that make you pull your hair out for a good hour at any event. But then you realise it's about the gaming. As long as you have a DS in your back pocket or a generator in your car... you should be OK :D

pull your hair out for only an hour? im amazed kon still had that freakishly long hair, by the end of the 1st day !!!! one problem after the other. but i wouldnt have traded it for a perfectly run weekend.

I wouldn't mind the XL staff hosting short pc lan tournament, also if they made it freeplay it may give people who hold free play xboxes to themselves something to do. A problem maybe the amount of space required to fit both the pc's in and the xboxes.
