Please use this thread to arrange your MatchBox360 FIFA08: Be A Pro Semi Final fixtures and reports results accordingly.
You have until midnight Wednesday 16th April to play all Semi Final fixtures.

You are to play each player twice as part of any one fixture alternating host accordingly.
The host will set up the game and play as the home team.


The Semi Final fixtures are as follows:

iSu F.C vs Clanhoppers
2on2 Strikers vs Renegay & BigMac

Please note: you must remain as the same team for the duration of the tournament.

In the event of the aggregate score resulting in a draw, an additional game of 4 minutes per half will be played hosted by the away team stated in the fixture. If teams are still tied then the fixture will be decided on penalties (away goals rule does not apply in this tournament).

Wow - superb games! Really end to end matches and so tense in the final game! In the first, Liverpool held the lead twice but were both times pegged back by goals from Rooney. It was a close game and in fairness could have gone either way. In the second game, United took the lead after some loose defending allowed the ball to bounce off two defenders and fall at Sahas feet, who squared to Rooney with an open net. Liverpool didn't give up though, and on 65 minutes hit the equaliser with a fine individual effort from Torres. Liverpool continued to push, and hit their second on 79 minutes with a well worked passing move, which nestled at Torres' right hoof. United went all out attack in an effort to salvage the game, but on 82 minutes a quick counter attack saw Torres square to Kuyt with the goal at his mercy.

A shock win - I've never known myself and Nimac to defend so well! Really enjoyed the games, thanks guys.

@ iSu - setting a half hour window in which to play two full matches is not ideal. Try to make yourselves slightly more available. I'm not blaming you guys at all, just remember everyone has things going on in their lives too and strict time windows aren't easy.

Villafan - the only way we can arrange fixtures and can prove that you guys are trying to get it played is your activity in this thread. Waiting on Xbox Live to send messages is not a reliable way of arranging fixtures. As you have already been told, you can't arrange a fixture for half past 9 (which you did not confirm) and then only give your opponents 15 minutes to turn up. Last night you have a half an hour window, tonight you came on here at 9:45 saying you couldn't play it anymore. There is still an hour and a half left tonight to play this fixture.

If it isn't played by midnight tonight, I will set your fixture time for you and it will be the last deadline.

Well seeing as I have had plans for tonight for well over two weeks it seems like we will have to forfeit, despite being the only team with both members online both nights when the fixture should have been played!

With no communication in here regarding last night, and setting half hour windows for full fixtures to be played, I didn't have much of a choice but to set you a fixture deadline. In total you would have had an extra 48 hours time to play the fixture.

If you can play it before or after 8pm then by all means post in here and I will do my best to accommodate it.

OK, after some deliberation with staff:

This is only a fun tournament, and therefore being overly strict on the deadline isn't going to help. Both teams have either been online or missed the arranged fixture and so kicking out either team would be unfair and not in the spirit of the tournament - and as I've said, forfeit wins at this stage isn't going to happen.

As of now, the new deadline for this fixture is MIDNIGHT, SUNDAY 27TH APRIL.

I would like the game played before that deadline, but that gives both teams 8 days to find a night on which they are free, not going out for pizza or e-partying, and not waiting for lifts home ;)

Please note: all arranging of date and time must be done in this thread - and it helps if both players from the team can confirm the time. Allow a period of time to wait for your opponents in case they have difficulties, and set a suitable window of availability to play both fixtures at the same time. Remember - there are four of you involved, so try and accommodate eachother!

I know what he is like and I know he was excited and pleased with getting to this stage so he would of played this match ages ago without any fuss so its strange to me that he has ignored everything :S

At the end of the day Blaqk, Villafan has not been responding and has made no effort whatsoever to arrange this game. He and the rest of iSu know the rules and the consequences of not arranging a fixture.

You yourself have managed to post in here, could one of you not ask him what has happened and report back?

I don't know what the reason is, but the tournament needs to be finished and I wasn't willing to wait another week - it's already been three.

Not very proffesional, sportsman like comments there is there so I dont know maybe it isnt all Villas fault. Just how i see it.

He hasn't responded to any messages, from myself or any other player. I can still show you 'Friend Request Pending' next to Killswitch too, if you like. At the end of the day, this fixture was set for nearly three weeks ago. Yes there was banter in here, and deservedly so. Every time it was arranged, he couldn't (or wouldn't) play.

Like I said - discussion over. If players sign up to tournaments, we expect them to finish them.

Yeah this is a shame. When they no showed the 2nd time I think Killswitch and Abs were pretty pissed off, and then even more so when what seemed to them everyone decided to take the ClanHoppers side. I know that it may have seemed like they just wanted the default win, and it certainly seemed that way to me, but thinking about it a bit more I don't really they wanted this- they entered the tournament to prove they were good, after all there is no prize, and it seems like they may well have actually won it.
I think the reason they in the end didn't bother is due to the way you guys acted in response. I won't re-quote BlaqK's comments, but they seemed pretty neggy to me, and so that probably just put the 2 of them off- if you guys weren't going to be respectful, why should they.

Anyhoo, it doesn't matter now. Well done to Clanhoppers for winning, maybe when Fifa 09 is out XL will have a Be a Pro tourney, and there won't be any problems with fixture arranging ^^

Kat - the fixture would not have been defaulted if Killswitch and Abs had communicated any problems here. It wasn't about no-showing - the only deciding factor was that Clanhoppers were consistently communicating, and iSu were not.

We know that people are busy at certain times, however I do feel we were extremely reasonable by allowing from the 12th April to the 27th April to play a fixture that should have been settled within 4 days.

Clanhoppers were angry with iSu, and iSu were angry with Clanhoppers. However, to repeat - no-shows and availability had nothing to do with the default win being awarded, it was awarded based on communication in this very thread. If iSu did feel aggrieved or insulted/disrespected, they should have mentioned that in this thread or contacted me directly. To not communicate at all only left the staff with one option.

Hopefully iSu will be entering the next tournament - I have no doubt they are a class team, and it was a shame for the decision to have to be made.

look neo played 3 matches before playing this cup ^^ now i think he did a amazing job but he dont play fifa and we never trained together or anything this is not fighting talk but if i take a player from my clan vs your guys i think you lose and lose royaly m8 3 of the fifa players including myself are world rank top 100


if you want we can do a 2 on 2 clan war match but dont talk rubbish m8 ....... its a unfair comment under the circumstances ^^ and rene and nimac played very good so i think its unfair to us and them to say such things ^^

I suggest if you want to arrange your own clan game against the pair you either let Neo do the talking or arrange the game via MSN/Emails, or even the beautiful and yet private PM system we have the these forums.

That sentence is different to 'we may have won it'. Hence, Ashley's reaction to your comment. You might have worded it wrong, but it's not the fault of the reader to read what you explicitly wrote and react to that. And I don't see how Ash flamed Katalyst: he went for the ball, not the man.

Non-staff members shouldn't get involved in disputes which they have no connection to - especially when they self-own themselves in their very first sentence:

Don't take it so personally. None of the staff have taken any sides at all - it was a misunderstanding from the players and we understand why there is a little bad blood after the events trying to organise the semi final.

What Spin was saying Ash is that these types of conversation are best kept off the forums, and instead in a Private Message, MSN conversation, or Email. OK he was sarcastic about it, but it was only light-hearted, just that some things are taken out of context on a forum. He isn't on anybody's side and is a respected member of staff.

It may also surprise you Ash that I was online and watching Xbox Live for every one of the arranged knockout fixtures in this tournament - even when I wasn't involved. I know it's frustrating when these games don't go ahead, but that's the way it is - these things get found out eventually and the decisions were made based on that.

The tournament was all conducted in fairly high spirits and went well until this. It's all got totally out of hand. If you don't agree with what is said or feel like it's uncalled for, PM a staff member and we will help anybody that requests help. Try and let it go over your head mate, and defend your crown in the next tournament :cool:
