COD4 FFA - Semi Final Results

Please use this thread to report your Call of Duty 4 FFA Semi Final results only.

It is the responsibility of all group players to ensure the results are reported correctly and accurately.
The group host is to report the results using the following format:

GROUP: A to B
RESULTS:

Player1 - (points scored)
Player2 - (points scored)
Player3 - (points scored)
Player4 - (points scored)
Player5 - (points scored)
Player6 - (points scored)
Player7 - (points scored)
Player8 - no show

Please note: you are requested to provide points scored per player and kills/deaths.
In the event of a tie in 4th/5th place, the player to progress to the next round will be determined on their kill/death ratio.

The top 4 players from each group will progress to the next round. Any player placing below 4th will be eliminated.
Round 5 Final fixture will be played on Wednesday 12th March at 9:00pm.

when players are all of a similar level it comes down to luck of the spawns at the end of the day so any good ffa player of a high standard is in with a shot if they're on their game and get a bit of luck, trying to predict the ffa when its a one off game is almost impossible. though the best players do generally come out on top more often than not.

tbh i really didnt expect fonzzie to get through especially not in second, so well done mate, maybe you can continue this luck into the finals hey? :p

and fonzzie if you say your not well known yet how are you ever gunna be if you switch to Vegas? ;)

Yer i know the big names are up there..

but GenetiX Fonzzie hasn't had easy rounds but is still in the final...

there are some relly good players out there, just because they arn't in the major teams like 'Reason' and 'iD' doesnt mean they are not in with a chance??

The players who are in the final are there on merit NOT by luck. Sure there is a random/luck element involved with FFA to a certain extent, but this is the same for all players competing so it simply comes down to skill and performance.

AND who your luckey enough to play against in each group in the NON seeded Groupings.

the round b4 last groups C - D obviously have atleast 12/15 of the Top players in and obviously 8 of those went out.

so there is luck in the sense of who you play, as there is no seedings for each round, you even let 5 people into the next round sometimes aswell witch i cant understand

but you cant deny that Sykz, Assassin, Euphoria, Craimer, Expoze, Gunshi (i.e the 'big names') all didnt have a chance to go through as they were all in the semi-final and were beaten out by the other 5. whilst i do think it is partly down to luck especially in a one off game, the best players do generally tend to come out on top. a league of some sort would show consistency and give us the truely best ffa players.

@ Hex - yes an unseeded FFA is random...I even stated that in the rules prior to the event and there is no way of determining fair seedings being the first tournament. As already stated, we used the same format used by MLG for this tournament and is the first time I havent done groups based on previous round performance. At the end of the day, it is a competitive format whether you like it or not.

Also as clearly stated, 5 players were allowed to progress in the first few rounds quite simply because we couldnt guarantee that results would be reported correctly due to the lobby system only recording points not kill/death ratio.

Lobby system Automatically puts the person with MOST deaths in 5th so i dont see how thats a problem.

And just because MLG use it dont mean its good.

a better way would be to randomize round 1 then have 1-3 and 2-4 from group mixing and matching each round there after.

ensureing people from the bootom groups mix it up with teh top groups

As far as who's in the final, and how much luck is involved, i think it's less 'it's random' and 'luck of spawns'. To be honest, i looked at the videos and i wasn't blown away by how any of the semi-finalists played, don't get me wrong all of the top players are good, but mainly in consistency.
I'd say most of the players who entered were around the same level, so who wins is down to a couple of factors: Spawns; How the player plays on the day and How decisions pan out. If you play the groups from the start again, you will most likley get a different final 8.

FFA is just like that i guess.
