New CoD4 Map DLC

Getting bored with the current Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare maps? Well not to worry, it appears that downloadable maps for the 360 and PS3 versions in particular are on the way. Last week there was an announcement that Infinity Ward were looking to the community for user-created maps, but this is about Official, IW newly created maps.

Please note the following was written in the PS3 Section of the Charlie Oscar Delta forums, and therefore is not strictly PC only, as many people have the view.

Here is what fourzerotwo, IW's Community Relations Manager said on the Charlie Oscar Delta forums:

"New Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare DLC Maps On The Way

I’ve got some big news I know that everyone has been waiting on official confirmation of and I’m excited to let you guys know that we’re currently working on some official new maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that are going to be available as DLC in the future. Last week I let you know that we were on the look out for the best community-made maps, but this week I can let the news out that we’re working on official IW-made maps of our own as well behind the scenes.

These new maps will be adding even more variety to the online multiplayer of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and I’m excited to gradually share more details regarding the new maps as we progress. So keep your eyes tuned to the blog as I’m going to be sharing sneak peek details and insights on what you can expect as we get further and further along with the DLC.

As always, thanks to everyone for your feedback and support. In the spirit of the new DLC announcement, what do you hope to see? Leave a comment and let me know what you’d like to see more of in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare? What kind of maps are you hoping to see?"

Many of us are still waiting upon the much needed patch for CoD4 online, but this is very good news nontheless.

Cool, i've only had it a few days but new content is always good!

Will agree with what Renegade said there, good work. On the new maps side of things i cant wait till they bring out a decent FFA map as for me i feel that COD4 shares the poor start of maps which Halo3 did and tbh i think they can do better.

I think they kinda cheated tbh, by coping all the online maps, from the single player.

Activision chose the better submisions from the create a map pack. I know there are alot of good mapers out there, and this will be interesting.

Pretty sure I read that the patch went out for MS Cert early this week, I reckon mid-March for release of the patch and DLC by mid-April.

Could be too little too late by then tbh. Seems a lot of teams will be switching to RB6V2 when its released.

Like the TV station i think that would be a good style map (i mean the inside of it)
if u could utilise the building for a game of SnD and Domination and Sabotage that would be a good map. TDM will just be same as always a camp fest

i know this is rumor but in the game i was playing yesterday. someone said they heard that when you get 10 kills then you get dogs to run around and go attack people

That's what's going around the Xbox Forums too - apparently it's in the rumours stage of the patch at the moment, but IW felt the need to add something for a ten kill streak as opposed to the current 3,5,7 streaks.

i think a "super UAV" for ten would be good which revelas people with uav jammer and shows a constant track of people aor maybe a artillery strike so its more accurate than air strikes.

im not sure if a super uav tracker that reveals everyone even eith the uav tracker perk on would be a good idea.
stopping power perk, martydome perk and major accurate maching guns ruined the game enough for me.
oh forgot to mention "the headshot does not instant kill pain" which acts more like a critical hit similer to TF2.

anyway enough complaining about the major flaws of the multiplayer.

the new maps may intrest me, heres hoping they're decent and well though out ones.

Super UAV? Terrible idea, did you think of the consequences of what that would have to online play?

Forgive my stupidity or ignorance, I have just seen that the new COD4 maps are available for download. Now it states that these are available for 21 days.....am I correct in assuming that these are available for 21 days to download only and that you will still be able to play them after the 21 day period?

I think it say's when they are released they are exclusive to the 360 for 21 days before being released on other platforms

Therefore; i think that the DLC will be availible to buy 21 days before PS3 users get it, and then it will go on sale to everyone. It would not make sense for IW to make a map pack, that only goes out to Xbox users and goes on for 21 days. They wuld lose loads (Unless M$ paid them a bombshell)

Yea, the blogger for COD4 has said they aren't delayed after all. I wonder if it was something to do with compatibilty with all systems (even though we get them before everyone else) because i doubt it would be certification this close to release.

New maps are the sh!t.

Killhouse is deffinatley the new best ffa map. Here you can actually use ANY weapon and not be at a disadvantage. I used a snipe (admittedly the worst on the level),shotty, smg, m16, ak and did decent with all of them. Mix of ranges just make it perfect, although the tower in the middle looks like a waste, the ladder take about a minute to climb and everyone can see you.

the tower u speak of reminds me of the cod2 map with the silo in the middle, your lucky if u reach the top

i like the new maps, it even makes some of the game types more fun when you have a decent team

creek / serch and destroy

if its not these gametypes for each map , there not worth playing. and HQ on braodcast is so badly designed.

really good maps. Creek is a good map, Kill house is mad with more than 6 ppl on at the same time. The rest are really good too. Will these be at XL5, as by then the maps will be free....?

As with GOW and Halo 3, your looking at 3 months if cod follows suit.

cod maps will never be free look at cod--2&3 there packs are still full price years later i would be very suprised if they become free!
