haha well i went on the website on the bottom it says Multiplayer Coming soon. So you never know but it might just be a co-op thing not the gay split screen on san andreas. Hopefully if they do, They'll get rid of the invisible barrier that is there when u go out of a mile between each other, that is really annoying :'[

Just wanted to say Havok that I wasn't a fan of Vice City or San Andreas but I did love GTA3 (and liberty city stories).

I think one of the strength of the GTA series is the change in the main character and the setting from the nameless protagonist in GTA III to Tommy Vercetti and CJ. Their characters had a direct input in the storyline, can you imagine CJ in Vice City taking over the drug business? It would be nice seeing some familiar faces though, like the guy from GTA III in SA and the missions for the Rockband.

The references in for example the adverts have so far made GTA games the best sandbox games, something Saint's Row was missing. The 'Degeneraton' in which the blue blocks shoot the red ones or the talk radios anyone? Maurice Chavez had me laugh so much on VC.

The main reason SA isn't my favourite GTA game is the constant 'Sims' like eating and working out. Fair enough eating replenishes your health, but having to eat or you'll die? If I want that I'll just play the Sims..

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was great, and probably the best of the series. It was truly great finishing it 100%, and I hope what GTA gains in graphics and realism doesn't necessarily mean a loss in depth and parody.

Totally agree, although I did get quite bored after a while playing San Andreas. Maybe it was too big?

Edit: Or maybe it was because 85% of the time i got a "Disk Read Error" when I put the disk in. I blame DayC.

Yeah, there's an argument for that. San Andreas' biggest achievement for me was that it was so good that I could look past the 'gangsta' and 'hood' theme.

San Andreas was difficult for me to get into at first. The initial missions were too complex, the cutscenes a little too long [even though there is great voice acting] and I never had a thing for the whole gangsta/hood theme. There were also a few too unforgiving missions, like the one with the train and chasing it on a bike whilst shooting at it which I failed a few times and took forever to get to again. Or the flying school.

But finally being able to swim and climb made up for a lot.

What irretated me on san andreas, i spent hours running round the the first island at the begining trying to take over all the territories, then decided to that mission that literally booted you into the second island, not long after that got bored of the repetitivenous from each mjssion, same old grand theft auto. i could of being playing the first one on a 2d view an i wouldn't of notice, so i quit the game, an moved on....

The gangsta theme was really good, makes for a more interesting character/game.
Flight School was really annoying probably the hardest set of missions.
I didn't like the whole eating thing either although getting wedge was fun.

Have they mentioned how much of a hit the graphics will take online yet? Bit strange how it is so close to release of the game and no video content of anyone playing the game, I am going to buy this after release I think, seem to much of the same old same old in the single player.

I found that thread funny because of the 'close up details:bullet holes' , yes I saw some that looked like that in Goldeneye, it was amazing then . . .

It is good to see they have got over some of the spooling issues in the game so you get more variety and its more life-like.

The weather effects from the screens do not appear to have progressed apart from the actual mood in the sky, the actual rain does not interact as such.

I would pass this game up easily however the online modes have made it slightly interesting, never been a big fan of its art style though and am looking forward to seeing some info on the getaway soon especially with the mention it is looking better than eightdays and GT5 is using its assets for London.

At least they have gone to something which will provide a more solid storyline than the whole in the hood theme they had last time, which imo fell flat on its face and never picked up.

I think the thing I'm most interested in is that it's such a big environment with so much happening on screen. Multiplayer is a nice add on, but I'm not all that bothered about.

Hmm, I thought they had come up with some nice online modes, but I am unsure how they are going to implement them as I have not seen any details whether its a lobby system etc etc I do like the city better this time round, I think its going back to the best GTA imo which was Vice City.

As for ps3forums, yeh I look on there but never post as the kids on it end up in flaming wars generally.

The multiplayer modes sound impressive. TDM on the whole map, some cops and robbers stuff, etc.

The lack of any 'real' info is disturbing. Not many ingame screenshots, gameplay.., but that's how they've always done it. I've got faith..

full review by oxm, 1st ever review (english mags ftw) just search it in google. Its a good read and they gave a perfect score, the only faults being a lil pop in and minor problems with the cover/aiming system (which may have since been foxed as it's a 2 week old build).

Planning on spending the first couple hours roaming the islands in co-op with my brother, familiarising myself with the layout. Then after some food taking it online and getting a feel for the different game modes. I'll be taking my time with the single player story on this game.

I'm seriously expecting Xbox Live to go wrong on Tuesday/Wednesday when everyone gets online with it. It'll be like Christmas all over again!

Bonzo - I preordered so that I could play it at midnight, not so that I would get it early. I didn't panic pre-order, I just remembered GTA:SA when I couldn't get hold of it for nearly three weeks after launch.

I had the game since three days ago as i am a naughty boy and overall i do rate it 9.5 / 10 as it amazing but i find the online part good but i hope with it being sold today it make a massive difference as i be talking to people that speak english but the japanise on there is so mazing to speak too as they got it so early like

I am proud to be in the first 200 people that got it. Just to mention it should be game of the year but the battle against gears of war 2 i just don't know who would win:)

erm ... not actually sure how many I have owned anymore now, this one is for Ninja Gaiden 2 though :p The PS3 is still there just waiting for MGS4 and my Blu-ray/DVD player, its the Wii that has now gone, I was getting sick of how bad it looked on my TV with a lot of the games anyway. I can live without Mariokart . . .

Won't mind hopping back on Halo 3 and playing GTA IV online will be better on the 360.

Hey Ladys and Gents :) I purchased GTA 4 yesterday and there are still some of the common glitches e.g. when you cant exit the car from doors the character just teleports out of it, i think it would be more realistic if he kicked out the fron window asnd crawled out etc. but overall I think its a really good game and worth buying!
