Just for those who don't know, the Wii news channel was launched today (well i was using it yesterday afternoon).

You can search several news categories as well as regional and national news. A special European news section is to be added in the next few months.

I had a play and its a bit fiddly. Each of the news articles and in horizontal bars which scroll when the pointer is over it. When you click on a story it pops up with the full story and there's a world map next to the story pointing where the story comes from.

I think the news stories are just feed from news feeds and are not actually written by nintendo.

CNN writes the news, it's a good channel more useful than the weather channel.

Mario kart 64 also hit the VC and Nintendo confirmed some new games (not retro emulations) would hit the VC.

Ooh, nice. Retro is nice sometimes, but new games.. I like.

The new channel, while it works well, I think it doesn't show enough articles, I think it only goes back 15 or 20 in each section, which considering how some days have a smattering of news, wouldn't necessarily even give you all of the news of the day. Also why is there no gaming section?

Offbeat question: When you buy a VC game does it just go into one of the blank channels or is there a VC channel then?

It goes into one of the channels. And yes, that will become a problem in the future :mad: :confused:

Do you not get new windows when you get an SD card? I mean at the moment there is what, 36 channels? So you'll be ok for a while.

Although news has just filtered through to say that a new channel is being devloped so that you can download original content (games) so maybe, in time they will combine all the VC games into one or they know about this and there is a solution that we don't see yet. I don't know?

Yup. It's not like your going to run out of any space soon though. Anyone who buys that many VC games should just buy the consoles :D

Well I know i'll probably buy a bunch just so at least the first page of Channels doesn't look so desolate :p
