Is Keegan really the man to take the Toon back to the top?
Your thoughts guys/gals.

I don't know.. Newcastle do have a fairly decent squad about them. They do have pretty clear weaknesses but they also have a few very clear strengths too. Any manager that could come in and simply provide a buzz and a confidence really could take a giant leap towards the right direction. The fans love Keegan and the players will love the renewed passion from the fans. Cant see it being any worse than Big sam to be honest.

They were already looking at their second choice with Harry having turned them down. Any manager that comes in now has that over their heads. I think the only option they have left is a big fan favourite like Keegan and to me seems the right, and only, choice they really had left.

I dont think he will be the man to bring them back to the top necessarily, but I think he is definitely the man to turn them into a semi decent team this season.

I heard this on the Radio on he way home and tbh i think they have made the right choice, im sure Shearer will be his second man and i cant see 2 better ppl working with each at Newcastle.

Just hope they give this one the time needed to turn them around.

I'd just like to see how many of those "loyal" fans go to watch newcastle in the championship

Nah they'd need to be relegated for a few seasons before they return to the crap attendance figures they had before they got promoted to the Premiership.

I used to go when we were wank and in the first division.

They went up and priced most fans out. Its all suits now man hence the calls for a singin end a while ago ha ha.

KK been out the game too long.
Won't be able to attract the players on a level that he used to.
Shearer only joined cos he's from the toon, he was worlds most expensive at the time.
We'll go nowhere as usual.

Players who played for him in the past said he's a crap coach, our defence will get worse if thats possible.

Ha ha, i think we'll stop up.
Down to ten men against stoke yet playing well and winning 2-0.
Who'd of thought. We might hit a bit of a lift but then we'll sharp see the mediocre days again.

Still, it'll keep the media circus happy.

I dont hate Newcastle...I just think the club is over rated and over hyped. Dont get me wrong, the fans are fantastic and have put up with years of crap and under achievement (just like Villa under Deadly Doug) but the club is nothing special to anyone outside of Newcastle yet we get it rammed down our throats 24-7 everytime anything happens up there. Its ****in retarded!

**applauds**

pretty much how I feel about it all, I love the local rivalry, there's nothing I like better than the banter I have with my mates who are mags, it's all a good laugh. Sadly though there is a lot of bandwagon jumping supporters who think that Newcastle have a god given right to be at the top of the Premier League/in the Champions League etc & the media makes it even worse.

The appointment of KK smacks of a huge PR exercise to me, & it saddens me as the fans deserve better than that :(

Why do the fans deserve better when thats what they wanted? I for one think that he might be the one for the job again.

As for saying Newcastle should not be a big club, what determines that fact, how about you get it put down your throats as Newcastle have the loyalist supporters out there, even if we did slip up you would not see what happens at the likes of Sunderland and Middlesbrough every week when they start to mess up. The Stadium of light may as well have been up for rent some weeks it got so little use.

As for the honours thing at least over the years Newcastle have been up there and consistently. Yes we have never won but we have at least had European football over recent years.

At the moment we are a shambles and do not deserve to be in the top half of the league even, never mind challenging the top 4, however that does not change the fact we have proven we can be up there which can not be said for a lot of other clubs!

isnt newcastle always getting 50K + in the attendance per match? while other clubs are getting half that?

Newcastle were always a shambles since they stopped challenging for the title. They like to convince the fans that they're a top club every summer by throwing money at players and clubs and acting the 'Big am I' routine; then, they go back to where they belong when the season starts and when football rules - not extravagant purchases.
