I am a legend FACT!
Saying FACT at the end of a sentence makes it a fact FACT.
Anyways my mate downloaded this from somewhere and i watched it a little bit ago. (instead of doing my essay, hence why im still up) The trailor and book are good but the film seems to fail to deliver. I thought it would be good as its got Will Smith in it and he seems to do decent films but this was a bit of a letdown. Think it is general release on the 14th in america and 26th here, correct me if im wrong!

I was disgusted when I heard that "I Am Legend" was a remake of "The Omega Man". When you have classic sci-fi from the 70's and it already features Charlton Heston you don't need to remake it, you have a timeless masterpiece on your hands.
People who don't watch films because they were made too long ago or people who don't watch foreign language films because they don't want to read are ruining modern cinema. Instead of coming up with something original and worthy of our time they remake old cinema which should appeal on its own merits.
Charlton Heston shits on Will Smith.

What a completely and utterly **** wank piss poor effort of a ****ing film.
I could fire of a load of things that are poor about this film so to save time I will list two things that were great about it.
1. I didnt pay any money to see it.
2. It does actually end.

If you want to gain a new found appreciation of all your **** films then watch this one. Otherwise don't - this isn't one to go "see if he was right about" either, it's shockingly bad.

Watched this last night, and no I didn't pay for it either.
Azure is right.
It's completely devoid of any merit - it's not scary, it's not interesting, it's got more sodding holes in it than swiss cheese. It's absolute rubbish.

I thought the film looked good and was well acted but the story was weak for me. Didn't think the film was a bad film just a an average Saturday night film that would better suited for viewing later one evening on the sofa with the other half.

I thought the acting was appalling. He is severing the last link he has with his previous life [when killing the dog] and just sits there with a look on his face like he is getting a second hand blow job.
The flashbacks provided no meaningful detail as to how his life used to be or why we should care about it. We just got the cliche black man talking to the dog in ebonics 'yo and then some american god loving to save us from the terribly drawn CGi "Dark seekers" lmao. There is one particular scene when he is sitting in his car/truck thing and the camera is pulling away from him revealing more and more of the deserted city, but did anyone notice how the perspective of the road kept distorting because they hasn't drawn it in properly? It kept like, stretching and then snapping to fit. Will Smith should stick to bad boys and independence day.

One of my main problems with it - I just didn't care, it provided no sense of scale or the city being destroyed in any way.
Will Smith should stick to bad boys and independence day.
Even though it's a bit girly, I thought he acted his nuts off in Persuit of Happyness.

To be honest I am going to have to agree with the apparent minority on this one. I really enjoyed the film. Admittedly I havnt read the book, I havnt seen either of the original films based upon the book. I saw this film as a stand alone film and found it to be very good veiwing.
I thought the depiction of solidarity was well delivered and all in all I liked the story. I was glad that it didnt go down the route of a fairytale ending however easy that would have been. I didnt exactly enjoy the whole God loving last few minutes but thats just american I suppose.
CGI doesnt bother me. In the same way that I couldnt care less if a game has bad graphics if the game is good. I enjoyed the film so the apparent CGI slips didnt make any impression on me whatsoever.
Apologies for not agreeing with the slating of every movie that comes out for one reason or another. With all ramifications expected, I enjoyed this one.

Computer Generated Imagery.
Leigh - I also saw it as standalone, and am not one for just slagging off any movie. What I realised after watching this film is that I would have been seriously p*ssed off had I paid to see it in a theatre. It gave no sense of emotion and didn't make me care about the main character at any point. I'm not saying everyone will dislike it, but it had virtually nothing of any merit to me.

I just loved how the 2 people survived in the little coal chute thing and nothing bothered to try and eat them. I loved how the bloke who let the dogs go and attack Will Smith didn't turn up and finish the Job, loved how these things can spin through the sky like bullets but there is an entirely safe sanctuary behind some concrete walls...
And that is all on top of what I thought to be very wooden acting from Will and a poor script, where were they going with the film, are these "dark seekers" retarded or smart? Look they can set traps but no wait, they're retarded again cus he can walk up to a load and shine a light on them whilst huffing like a teenage girl finding her love button and they take no notice. It's all over the place. And as RenEgade was, I was emotionally detached from the characters. I felt no sense of his loneliness, chatting to some mannequins and then just standing there wobbling on about how your dog said to say hello...
Also I wasn't at all convinced by what he had got up to inside however many years it had been. The entire city's resources at his disposal and he has come up with an ET phone home thing on some **** radio thing, why isn't he swinging off some satellite communications device? I am sure any installation capable of chatting to satellites would ahve diesel driven generators. And he was meant to be a Colonel as well in the army?! /Rant.
P.S if it had been that many years and everyone for the most part were nutters and tehre was only was it 2/3-7% of the population left? Let's not kid ourselves it wouldn't be "oh lets not kill em in case we get a cure for them one day" they'd all be dead, the remaining human populace would have decimated them with the firepower that the zombie freaks were for some arbitrary reason unable to use.

I thought that the director portrayed Smith's lonliness well when
He imitates every single word of shrek, and he says hello to the doll when he kills sam
I loved it when
Sam runs off into the building and Smith stumbles upon the hive, whoever wrote that scene is a master of suspense
unfortunatley though, the ending was a bit too open, and the butterfly thing makes mild sense, but has some plot holes, although you could tell that the directors were trying to keep the butterfly theme running, as I realised that butterflies appeared anywhere there was action, but it just didn't make sense

Just watched this. The creative people behind this film didn't have the skill to keep the entire thing afloat. I'd say that they were attracted by the premise for a film, but didn't realise that trying to work or make a film work with one character for the majority of the film is tough. The ending reminded me of that utterly insipid 'happy' ending from one of the cuts of Blade Runner. Suffice to say, it didn't end well. I hate these films which end on finding a scientific solution; it's wholly unsatisfying and impersonal.
Nice attempt, though.

Alternative/cut ending: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2008/03/i_am_legend_alternate_ending.html
The scene between Smith and the infected in the cut bit is probably one of the better ones in the whole film. Plus it doesn't have the sanctuary at the end.
Still, it's a bit 'riding off into the sunset, all will be good'.
Thoughts?

That was sweet.
But i did prefer the other ending.
A bit of Talking to jesus, then blowing himself up was the icing on the cake for me.
