EVENT FORMAT

LEAGUE BASED EVENT WITH HOME AND AWAY FIXTURES

TEAMS: CLUB - DUPLICATES ALLOWED - PLAYERS MUST USE THE SAME TEAM THROUGHOUT THE EVENT - PLAYERS ARE TO POST WHAT TEAM THEY ARE USING IN THIS THREAD.

MATCH LENGTH: 10 MINUTES

CONDITION: GREEN

WEATHER: SUMMER, FINE AND NORMAL


At the end of the league stages the top 4 players from each league will enter into a knockout to determine the overall winner.

However, because I am nice.... I will also set up a knockout for the players that do not qualify for the top 4.... which means there is something to play for even if you are bottom of the league.

Any player who does not fulfill their fixtures without good reason, will be excluded from future events.

FUTHERMORE.... WHEN YOU HAVE PLAYED A MATCH.... COULD YOU PLEASE POST THE SCORE IN THIS THREAD ASWELL AS SUBMITTING IT ON PESRANKINGS.

This event will start on Sunday 9th December 2007 and all fixtures for the leagues stages are to be completed by 16th January 2008

Your league Ambassadors and admins for this event are Myself (BARR2k), KHZ Gaskin, KHZ Icemanleigh and Lpoolfan.

One final request.... could you please use your headsets during all matches... Players should be able to speak to each other to make sure that online server issues are resolved quickly... Also it makes the event more fun :)

Would it be ok if everyone had to use a white ball? I know myself and a few others have a problem where if a dark ball is used on a shaded pitch it becomes really difficult to see it :(

tried to play some games last night online and every game was a lag fest, the only reason i won was because my opponent was so much worse than me, and i know i will just lose every game due to lag in this league :D

Sounds to me like you've seen your league and bottled it :p I've hardly seen any lag at all on the 360 version, even my games against you before didnt lag so you must have dodgy con :D

Well, Inter are a different breed of super team. Whereas with Barcelona you can play the beautiful game, with Inter, you play the 'pass to Ibra or Adriano and power through the defence' game.

The lag is absolutely horrific at times so I don't think people are making more of an issue out of it than it really is but we all have to live with it guys, I know it spoils the game but if people are putting in the effort to organise events then we should maybe just give it a shot. At least before it starts anyway, perhaps I will be eating my words but I know what to expect. Sure...does it matter if you lose a game due to lag, there is the rare occasion where you may win 1 or 2 because of it.....none in my case but sure it's all a good crack? :) C'mon guys give it a chance, I was looking forward to getting games against some of you.

Nimac - losing a game is fair play, it happens. However, I don't intend to arrange fixtures, times, make myself available, put things on hold, for a game that I'm not going to enjoy playing and just seems like a chore. The game online, as it stands, is utterly unplayable for me - I don't want to play it, and don't intend to. You know how much I played PES6, I put up with all the crap that happened in PES6 - I'm just not going to do it anymore. At least PES6 worked.

Matt - it was pull out now, or pull out after I've played a few games, in turn buggering up the results, fixtures, league, etc etc. Your choice. When I signed up for the event the lag was bearable, and with a promised patch I went for it. Since this promised patch has reduced the online playability to about the level of playing via my mobile phone, I've not really got a choice.

matt the reason why hhad removed myself is because the lag online is a joke. i will play the occasional game online against people on my xbox, but even with there good con, there is still lag. i dont have 500mb broadband or anything and maybe thats the only way forward.

Also someone mentioned me seeing the group and removing myself, thats bull too. If this tournament was offline where there is no lag id back myself to win it. Anyways good luck with it and will probably (most likely) see you at a few gamestation tournys :)

Crazy games. Neither of us could keep the other out defensively. Good game, not alot of lag, just tiny bits every here and there. Great games, both very close, somehow managed to come out on top in both. 2 games 15 goals. Madness. Begginer keepers combined with the little bit of lag making it harder to defend really needs to be looked at by Konami.. Seriously.

Yeah beaten again, first game was pretty tight up until a point then it went pear shaped and to be fair it was pretty lagless so no excuses however the second game was a joke, I actually stopped playing after it got to 5 or 6, the game actually did better without me controlling it. I did indicate that it was bad but John had 3 bars according to his msg, it would have been good if we could have talked and maybe re-started.
I think it would be better if people had mic's to help communicate problems :confused:

First game was crazy. I felt like I started well.. Managed to go 3-1 up. Got to half time, then about 10 minutes into the second half it went horribly wrong. Was all just falling for marko and every shot he had went in. He definitely deserved to win, but 7-3 was no where near.

Second game I was pleased to get the win. Was a very close game, but I just felt I held his strikers a bit better and was able to get my wingers into play.

Great games, very little lag once more. Two good connections so far. No complaints.. Good luck in the rest of your matches.

Two great games, not really any lag thank god...I thought both games were very tight, maybe the second would have been closer if Henry didn't get sent off in the first half for a nothing tackle, but hey, what can you do...Well played Leigh. Good luck.

Well played mate :) I thought I deserved at least 7 in that first game, 21 shots with 16 on target including a missed penalty, I shouldve had more :p Second game you deserved though, no complaints from me:D Lag free once again for me as well, I dont think its as bad as some people make out but I guess I could just be getting lucky with the connection

lol yea you did have alot of shots. I was actually suprised to see just how many you had. I think most of them were from range though. I generally try to limit peoples one on one chances more on this game. The goals just started pouring in though after about 60 minutes lol.

Well, got my first games in today

Wallace(Barca) 3 - 2 JonnyNelson(Inter)

I went 2-0 up in the first half, tried to slow the play down and pass the ball, but everytime he got it it was direct to the Inter Power 3 so it was very very hard to defend, he pulled it back to 2-1 around 70 mins, I did sense he was going to equalise but I managed to get an auto pen for 3-1 then he scored 89th min to make it 3-2 and almost a 3-3 in dying seconds

phew.

Straight from kickoff Zlatan scored to make it 1-0, terrible keeping from vlad!! I tried to stick to the game plan just keeping cool passing around, Henry managed to get passed and cutback to Ronaldinho for 1-1, but it didnt last long as jonny scored a header with crespo 5 mins later, I spent the rest of the game trying to make 2-2, missed some great chances, Jonny kept cool and kept the ball for a long part late in the game, so as I managed to get 1 last attack I went up the park and scored 89th min

I knew I was in for a tough game, he recently knocked me out another matchbox cup. I went 1-0 up early in the game, tried to take control but he is good at reading my passes and I was on the edge didnt have time to think, he soon equalised and then a teleport goal(doh!) but thats online pes, I played on calm and got 2-2 then midway through 2nd half managed to get the 3rd and then hold on just for the win

I cant use a headset whilst playing pes, my whole game just goes wrong if im not concentrating, i do however explain to all my opponents if there are any issues with lag then pause the game and let me know when it kicks off as there is perfect chat service for communication.

Hate that excuse. IMO if you both use a headset and talk - as you should in tournaments - then any performance problems are negated. Use a headset, it's in the rules.

Its not in official pesrankings rules.

If you wanna enofrce this rule in matchbox tournaments then go for it, but remember this is pesrankings using your forum to promote the site and pesrankings. So pesranking rules count, not matchbox.

My sponsor doesnt pay for me to sit there and talk, they pay me to play my best and gain the best possible result.

Its like this, it was a request from the person running the event so everybody that has an opinion that's great and go and tell the headmaster about being asked to wear a headset if you want but for those who haven't got a sponsor and like to enjoy games as well as being competitive it would be nice to be able to talk to the person you are playing, who knows you might just find out that they're a decent person. I know for a fact that I have had some great matches with some of the people I have met on here and we have managed to hold a conversation while doing so. Cheers.

gotta agree with rob here - its your perogative to use a headset or not. I personally always play pes with my ipod playing so my ears are in use! I've played like that for a while now and i feel i concentrate better by doing it. no offence to anyone on here, but chit chat is for pre and post match, and im happy to have a chat then and some banter etc - not mid game though!

btw sorry nimac for only playing 1 game, had a few router probs and didnt sort them out for a while - invite me whenever you see me on and we'll get the other game done.

Kent you will use a headset.... I stated that in the rules before you signed up.. there is nothing in Pesrankings rules to say you have to use a headset... but then there are no rules at all about pesrankings... its left to the admins descretion on what to include.

Thats fine.... All I am expecting players to do is say hello at the beginning of games.... and occasionally speak regarding issues like lag etc....

It just makes the whole event a damn lot easier to run as players can resolve their issues between themselves by talking and not posting in here afterwards saying they were lagged out etc and could not inform their opponent it time...

I agree with what yousay about the pm system.... but how are you going to type a message when you in mid game..... a quick word down the mic sorts the problem out instantly :)

I only run online events for Matchbox.... Matchbox is not pesfan and nobody on here is afraid to upset you... because quite frankly we don't care.

Well played mate, think the first game was a bit tighter than the scoreline suggests but after taking an early lead I couldn't get another one then you got a couple in quick succession and that was it, couldn't believe that Ibra goal :)
2nd game and I thought I was going to maybe get my first victory when I was 2-0 up but yet again I let it slip and then the inevitable 3rd goal came but not for me. That Adriano goal was almost identical to the one that Matt(Barr) scored in my last games. Lag was almost non-existent in both games, just a couple of minor blips but nothing that ruined the games. Good luck with your other matches.

Yeah I really enjoyed them tbh.... nice to play against a quality player that does not have to resort to cheap ways to score goals and I look forward to playing against you again... I am sure we are going to have many great matches in the future.

thanks for the compliment matt, nice to put a voice to the forum posts, good games - the usual glitches applied to both games, but a draw each seemed fair on the balance of play - 1st game with me having all the pressure/chances and then you in the 2nd.

Hopefully a final, proper update to sort out online isnt too far away - its so hard to tell if its me who's doing well or if the glitches are helping me to win!!!

Both bloody close games. First game, I went 1-0 down very early on...before getting an equalizer just minutes after. Then the most ridiculous thing happened...Nimac had Valdes sent of for absolutely nothing...I played a through ball to Messi who took it into the box, attempted to sidestep the keeper, only to fail and the ball his Valdes and bounce away...yet the ref stopped play and awarded me a penalty along with a red card for the keeper. After that, even though he only had 10 men, he managed to keep pressurizing me and almost got a result from it.

Second game was even closer cause this time, he managed to keep 11 men on the field lol. I went up not so long into the game only for Nimac to equalize from a great goal...My keeper ran to the edge of the box to clear a through ball, only to decide to stay out of the net and have a fag...or two. The ball was cleared only for Nimac to pick it up and score a cracker from the halfway line. After that I managed to get the score to 3-2 for most of the game until in the dying minutes Nimac equalized. Then in stoppage time, straight from kick off, Eto'o dribbled past around four of his players, played a nice pass to Henry who managed to get round his last defender and slot it in the bottom corner. Nimac couldn't believe it.

Great games and very unlucky not to get any points from the games. Well played.

Well played Hursti, fair reflection on both games. I did score a couple of peach goals but story of my 'PES' life...if something unlucky is going to happen it's a cert to happen in my games. That numb-nut Valdes!!!.....to be fair it was that tube of a referee, must have been the same ref that gave Matt his dodgy pena!!! :)

Surely I have to get a win or at least a draw somewhere along the way, I was so unlucky not to come away with something last night.

Good games, scorelines wernt really a good reflection of how the games went. I felt that I had the edge but a few of my goals were lucky and a few of your chances were unlucky not to be tucked away. Enjoyed the games though, great sprited player. I hope that maxwell goal from the corner haunts you for life ;) What a strike.

Lol, just to explain this inside joke to everyone. When I scored my Wonder strike! lol, with Maxwell. My brother started screaming and shouting like an idiot in the background. He found it hilarious and so decided to do it everytime I scored from then onwards. Shouting things like 'who the ****ing hell is nimac' etc.

First game we played ages ago and I cant remember what happened to be honest lol.

Second game was bloody close, I went down twice but managed to equalize both times :). Then in the last few minutes I think I should have had a goal, Eto'o latched onto a great through ball, took it slightly to the right of the keeper only to be brought down by him. There was nothing Burnzey could do except to watch his keeper be sent off. Then his sub keeper did a great save from the free kick. All in all, I think a draw was a fair result.

At last a couple of results in my favour :) First game, got an early penalty which eased the pressure then once the 2nd went in I could sense a victory, around 80 mins the 3rd came and that was it....result!!!
Both games were pretty lag free which was good although the 2nd game had some really dodgy goals, my 2nd came from a ball which dropped into the middle of 4 players right near the AC goal line...next thing I know it's in the net, 2-1 Barca. Then as if by magic AC romp down the other end and the guy hits a shot from distance...Valdes makes a great save but with the Tiger Woods back spin it goes for a burton into the back of the net...2-2 and that was the end of that!

Is there any danger of anyone else playing me cos I just want to put PES in the cupboard now. The game online at the minute disgusts me, I have never seen such nonsense....at first I really thought it was a big improvement on PES6 but recently the guff that I have witnessed is not even funny. Some of my players are being assaulted(I kid you not) and the ref gives nothing then I tickle a players ass and the cards are coming out quicker than RoadRunner can say MeepMeep. Lo and behold I'm down to 10 men and then it's a losing battle after that....the game ends and 9 times out of 10 it's a player who is ranked higher than me even though I have played them off the park.

I love Pro Evo but online it is a disgrace to football :(

First game was pretty much all me, I think Boon only had one attempt at goal. He got a man sent off at the end for touching me on the halfway line, good job it was at the end cos if that was at the start it would have been a shame for the game to be ruined by stupid PES refereeing decisions.

Second game I was 2-0 up after 10 mins then Boon came flying back to take a 3-2 lead at half time. A lucky goal after his keeper kicked the ball right at me got me back into the game and I went onto win :D

barr, sorry about thsi but im pulling out of this league, along with all my other pes leagues - i cant stand the lag anymore, and ive lost all passion for the game. you might have removed me already due to the lack of games played but in case you haven't (cant be bothered looking tbh) im making it official.

Thanks to Matt for organising this but due to the online aspect of this game it has been a big letdown, I won't be quitting as I have played most of my games..yes I did lose quite a few but who cares :) I love football. It's such a shame that PES has been completely ruined this season with the online side of the game. My money will be on FIFA this year........sorry :(
