As BioShock creeps ever closer to release, BioShock's community site, The Cult of Rapture, has posted a Q and A covering some burning issues. Of these, we can finally confirm that Bioshock does not feature any kind of multiplayer component, nor is a demo planned.
According to the site, "There will be no multiplayer (hold on before you complain!!!!) but for a very specific reason. BioShock features a compelling storyline that revolves around the experiences of one man as he enters the decaying world of Rapture. Having a multiplayer component would have compromised the story we were trying to tell so we made the decision to keep this game as a single player experience. There will be an online component, however, where new content can be downloaded."
The move to keep the focus on a tight single-player experience is an amiable one, we think. Why dilute what is shaping up to be a fantastic shooter by tacking on an unnecessary multiplayer component?
On the issue of a demo: "No playable demo is planned at this time, as the team is focused on the actual game. Things could change, however."
So, it's not quite a definite no, but we wouldn't advise you to hold your breath, folks. Look out for a BioShock hands-on in the near future.

Thank god. Finally a game that doesn't have a rushed multiplayer mode added that people will be bored of after a few weeks.
Thoughts?
