If the port is small and blue it is a VGA input and will work with you 360 if you get the correct cable. if the port is long and white you can get a DVI to VGA adapter and use the 360 VGA cable from there.

Oh and apparantly the VGA cable doesn't work with Gears of War too well not sure about the whole upscaled dvd thing though.

Yeah its a VGA port. With regards to the DVI port it's very probable that you can't just use an adapter, if the DVI port has HDCP on it then it will not usually accept an analog signal which is output via VGA.

VGA does work fine with Gears, it's when you use a 4:3 resolution that it creates problems, 16:9 (or 16:10) is fine.

iv read that the vga picture is washed out compared to the component

I run my 360 on a 32" Philips LCD, its not HD. When I saw Gears and other games running in HD i got a little bit excited and started looking at HD TVS. But before I spent

I personally prefer the picture on my Samsung 32" HDTV via VGA than component, I mainly picked VGA due to the benefit of having the ability to upscale DVDs and get full HD-DVD picture.

However when I compared them I found little difference between them, although the VGA can appear ever so slightly washed out but I wouldn't call it a major issuse and would be surprised if many people would notice it.

Unless of course someone mentioned it.

I'm thinking of getting one as well, does anyone know if the quality with the Microsoft VGA cable is better then the other brands?

I'd rather not pay $40 for a cable..

Yeah it's a lot better, I bought the Pelican cable originally and while it's okay there was a bit of ghosting on sharp edges, the MS VGA cable has eliminated all of that :D
