It's already know that BioWare is to release episodic content for its forthcoming Xbox 360 game Mass Effect, but the developer has now revealed it's expanding episodic release plans to cover additional projects.

"...we have big plans afoot at BioWare for post-release and episodic content for upcoming cool BioWare games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Jade Empire: Special Edition and other upcoming BioWare titles, both on console and PC", BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka divulged in an interview with CVG which we'll be publishing shortly.

This can be good, as it worked on games such as Oblivion and even Kotor 1 if any of you remember, but is this the future of gaming? Having to aquire/purchase more?

I have no problem the aquiring/purchasing more content for a game as long as the content was not deliberately left out of the game. I think this is linked to the Ripped Off thread, if you are paying to unlock things that are already on the disk then its wrong.

If this episodic content is created to add life to a game and allows you to carry on the experience after you have completed the main game then it can only be good, right? How many games have you completed and really enjoyed but not gone back to because you had done all you could? If there had been extra missions/levels released it would give these games extra life.

I'm sure that we will soon see a game that is released and played in installments like a TV series, which I think could be pretty cool if done correctly and not overpriced.
