Marko won it. But apparently Jigga was very unlucky in the semi-final game against him. I was gutted to miss the cut, as I was sixteenth at one point, but those North and South events were throwing away points for fun.

Most importantly, all those that did attend got to play PES 2008. Barr2k had this to say about it:

But the main thing for me was Pes 2008.... my god what a game

If the finished version is anything like this one I played... then I can see a big change in the top 32 next season... It appears to be based on the game engine of pes 6 on the 360... but alot better... and like the 360 version... rewards good play

I'll make my prediction now.... Makenshi to make the top 32 next season

If he's right, then I'm going to definitely enjoy playing PES 2008 as much I enjoyed PES6.

If Makenshi makes top 32 next season I know I will. :D

I could have made top 32 if I had likewise gone to those silly north and south events. Although, the OXM event that was on. I won my league and it states all league winners (32 to be precise) go to play the finals in london, haven't heard anything yet though.

Absolutely gutted. The top player in the Ireland Rankings automatically gets a place in the Euros and goes to Seville. I was second, and behind by thirty points - cheap *******s wouldn't pay for two flights. :(

Hi Guys

Sorry I have not been around much

Been having a break from this tbh :)

As you know the demo is out for pes 2008

The finals demo was abit slower and i therefore think the demo on Live is an earlier code :)

I do honestly believe that players that sue genuine skill will fair better than the cutbackers :)

Oh and my 5-3-2 is still a gem :)

I hope so, because the demo is letting in goals for fun.

Rob McLean was it? I can't say I blame him. I hate the camera angle the PES 2008 demo forces you to play with.

Rob Mclean even though a great PS2 champion, knows naff all about the 360 version of the game and like many of the top PS2 players... will really struggle next season...

Because lets be fair... the PS2 version of pes is for cheap players who can't play the game with any sense of style or fair play.... Mclean is a worthy champion on the PS2 format... but he sucks on the 360 version and like so many other PS2 players..... he just blames the controller for his feeble performances....

Thats why I am glad Konami have used the game engine from pes 6 on the 360.... and that both the PS3 and 360 versions will be identical... it will pee off these cheap players who never knew of the roots of pes and how it should be played... they are going to really struggle next season....

Also Konami Will be using the 360 version of Pes 2008 for all their big events... so basically dudes you 360 lads will have more of a chance of qualifying for the big events :)

I myself being the UK Number 1 360 player... will be looking to do very well next year and push for a top two spot :)

There are a few good players who play good football: MoS from Germany for one.

I hope that's true because I know of several players who've sold their Xbox 360 because they would be playing PES on the PS3 next season. Ahaha

Well from the rumours I have heard its 360 all the way next year

Oh and I would like to state for the record..... I do rate Rob as an excellent player.......on the PS2.... I think he would find it hard to disagree with my comment as his event said his toss at the 360 version lol ;)

Rob played on the 360 version when he stayed at my house before the North event, he was mince at it :D

lol@you

This contradicts the post you made on PESFan which had me slap bang at the top of your list to do well next season.

Sure i wasnt good at the xbox version last year, it was a different version and i never played it more than 30 times (25 competitive) throughout the year, so duh, im not gonna be good at it. We were even when we played on release so dont talk trash regarding me.

This season will not be a struggle for me, i will continue to win things, as i have done for the last 3 years. New game, identical to ps3, il be fine and you know it :D :p.

ps im the first to admit i was **** on the xbox version last year. I was awful. But i still reached 3 finals from 6 events on it so i must be doing something right. I just did not have time to adapt to the different version of the game or the controller.

This year will be different as the game will be identical and i am sure i can overcome the controller part.

Look forward to another succesful year, for not just me, but im sure you will do well too.

I bet I could go on a forum about horse riding lessons and I'd still find a Rob vs Matt posting war :D

and yes I do think you will do well... but I do think you will struggle...

You are going to have to change your game to compete with the very best imo.. because imo apart from you, Marko, Jigga and a few others... the other so called top players just exposed cheap spots and bad AI to do well... tbh they were very good players that were excellent in exploiting a set style of attack :)

To much biased crap gets spoken about PS2 top players being untouchable..... The majority of top PS2 players all play the same way and expose the sweet spots of Pes 6 on the PS2.... PS2 events became boring and failed to capture the spirit of Pes events and the skill of the players, due to the mainstream playing crap, cheap and unsporting tactics.

I just think this year... its going to be the top 360 players that are going to be going for the top spots... and thats basically down to the fact that PES 2008 is based upon the engine of Pes 6 on the 360.... and most hardcore PS2 Pes players can't tell their arse from their elbow on that format :)

Oh yeah, before you say... even Europe will have to adapt ;)

lol

Lets agree to disagree.

The top players will remain the top players with a few new peeps coming in about imo.

Lol

I'd win that aswell ;)

Rob knows that I respect him as a player and my views on some of the PS2 community are not directed at him.

I just remember people slating that 360 community last season on Pesfan and actually Mr Mclean stating himself that were no top players on the 360, just very good players ;)

What is really making me smile is that these people are now bigging pes 2008 up and saying how good the demo was... but to me it was so much like the 360 version of Pes 6 that I thought people were being biased about Pes 6 on the 360 all along :)

What also makes me smile is that people are already making predictions on who will be at the top next season... and apart from Mr Mclean who has actually backed some 360 players..... most have just went for "it will be the PS2 crew again "

Sorry dudes... but the majority of PS2 players next season are going to fall flat on their backside and get taught a few things..... that is of course if their not playing on the PS2 version (which is going to be no more that Pes 6.5)

That is exactly what I said on PESfan after playing it! Even Rob was saying how good it was and I was just thinking its nearly the exact same as PES6 on the 360 so how come all of a sudden everyone thinks its so good :D

Rob you biased camel :p

Well... you have not played Pes 6 on the 360 all that much ;)

its alot like the 360 version... but better

and its a hell of alot different from the PS2 version.... which is ace ;)

I am sure you will love it anyway and I am sure you will do well after a settling in period ;)

I dont think its anything like the 360 version tbh.

It's pretty much exactly the same, with a little added.

I also think the top players will continue being the top players... On PESRankings.

BARR2K

Is that a slight dig at Rankings there my dear Renegade ;)

Don't worry there are plans to prevent Rankings being overun with one format biased events :)

Everyone will have a chance to get into the top 32 :)

Renegade

I just think that people will stick with PESRankings if it's what they were used to, and other sources if it's not.

Yeah I agree with you there..

I know there is a hell of alot of talent out there that don't use Rankings....

I reckon though if we can work well on matchbox though then we will attract some fresh me..... i mean new talent lol ;)
