Just thought I would create a seperate thread for all general forza 2 discussions, rather than being based around the paint thread..
So how are people doing? I have been doing career a bit, as well as slowly going through the time trials and seeing how I can fair on each. Havnt really raced online much yet. Had a small session but it didnt last too long.
I quite like the fact that Turn10 have made hotlap almost irrelevant to start as there are SOO many tracks to do to get a complete time that it really will take most (normal) people a good while to have even raced all of them.
The time trials are pretty good. Maybe would have preffered a couple of slower cars, but I guess they have to make good use of having the race setup cars in the game. Ive hit a couple of decent times so far.. 10th on Suzuka East, 8th on Silverstone National, 15th on Road Atlanta (full), 8th on Silverstone International, and 13th on Laguna Seca. Hopefully can improve a couple of those though, as well as some of the others, as I am basically just aiming to be within a second of the top guy for now until I have done all the tracks and got an overall rank.. I am currently up to, and about to do Sunset Infield..
I'm getting a 360 soon and might buy this game.
It looks good but my problem is that I've never really played a realistic racing game before so I'm rubbish at them. I always preferred to play NFS or Burnout to Forza/PGR.
Would it be worth me getting it anyway because I want to get good at it but whats the learning curve like? I'm gonna have loads of time in the summer to practise anyway and it looks fun.
I'm really enjoying it, got good solid times on most tracks although I've not put a whole lot of effort into setting stellar times.
Setting up the cars is a real art form, got one of the guys on my friendslist to setup one of my cars after I'd taken my own stab at it and the difference was amazing, so starting to get my head around that.
And I have bought the MS Wheel as well now, doesn't arrive till tomorrow but that should be good, and all being well should help improve my times.

Just as an update.. I have just finished all the time trials, And I beleive (I will explain) That I am 7th overall..
Unfortunately though there is still a glitch on the leaderboards, on King Cobra, whereby the player never receives control of the car until the last second of the lap, then the score is recorded as 0.0.001 or simalar. These guys (as far as I am aware) are not doing it on purpose, but instead is a game error. Obviously though this takes a good 3 minutes of so off their times putting them at the top of the leaderboards.. I am 67th overall, and looking at the names ahead of me, I beleive that currently I am 7th of the legitimate times. There is a fair space between me and 6th place though since Im not great at Nurburg, so I expect a few to drop in there in time.. Maybe ;)

You're right, majority of the time trial cars are fecking awful. Really disappointed.
IcemanLeigh
12-06-2007, 09:39 PM
I dont think you can say that they are awful.. They are too good that is my problem. I wouldnt say dissapointing either but your decision..
It still doesnt matter, because everyone still is forced to use the same car, so the playing field is level. My only wish is that they had mixed up the classes a bit more..

But there's like two slow cars - the cars that show the most skill. The rest are fast cars that are just stupid. Which is disappointing.
It'll be to help give folk the chance to unlock more R2 and R1 cars for use online, without doing the TT you are stuck with the Audi R8.

Please back up that statement with something other than just ridiculous talk.. lol
Fast cars are stupid and take no skill? I'l believe it when you can stay within 2 seconds of Fyrebird using an R1..
Gaskin

I didn't say they don't take skill, but they don't take as much skill.
IcemanLeigh
12-06-2007, 10:52 PM
Trust me.. They take alot more. Anyway, completely pointless arguement. Apparently the glitched times are being removed as we speak with another auto update to be released in the next few days to clear them..

In a fast car, the slightest error in judgement can spin you or send you off onto the dirt, destroying your entire race. In a slow car, they are more recoverable. Remember our race in the Tuscan, Dan? You struggled to control the power after using the slower cars, and sent it straight off the track, with the shout 'its gay, it spins to much!' - whereas I didn't spin or come off the course once. I'm not saying I've got the more skill that's not what I'm trying to explain - seeing as you race with no assists and manual shifting - but there is a difference between the slower and fast cars in terms of what it takes to recover an error.
On a side note - me, Corkin and Dan Gaskin raced the 'demo track' the other night... It was the extended version, so where the demo version had a sweeping turn to the right onto the home straight, the full version goes left and continues around more bends. The usual right hand turn is blocked off but the road is still there so it's a little deceptive - which Gaskin didn't realise as he hadn't looked at the map! So me and Corkin are in 2nd and 3rd, and just watched as Gaskin swept all the way around the right hand bend... and into the wall. Mwahaha. He quit out of the race about 2 seconds later :P
Going to do some time trials tonight - are well allowed to upgrade and tune the time trial cars or is it stock only?

Yeah but the fact is, it did bloody slide! ;)

Only for you, noobzor :p
Mr 'doesnt look at the map before he goes round the imaginary bend' :p
Time trial cars are stock, although you can tune them I think so taking some pressure out the front tyres and tweaking the ride height help massively on the ring.
Got the wheel this morning, and **** me is it hard, lol. Adds a new aspect to the game, I think though once I get some more continuous time with it under my belt my times will start to drop, it's a lot easier to blend on the power with a RWD car than with the pad.

Let's not talk about the other 5 or 6 races I beat you in.. ;)
And the only reason I was thrown off was purely because at the start you said "Ahh the demo track". *Shakes fist*

I'm guessing the wheel allows you to get a better time on the ring circuit, you can keep your car steadier.

Let's not talk about the THREE races you beat me in - let's talk about Nurburgring in which I won by over 1 minute 30 (in the same car) with your engine so knackered you couldn't do over 160...
Let's talk about the TVR Tuscan race where you bleated 'oooooh mah gaaaawwwd, teh spinny car!' and spent most your time in the gravel traps ;)
Let's talk about the 'demo track', and how car met wall with a metal explosion! You should know that your enemy will always play mind games to put you off - but you made my job a lot easier by not even looking at the big white map in the corner of your screen :D:D:D

3, won more than 3 my friend. I'm not a n00b so I don't need to look at the map's because I know the tracks. But someone told me it was a different chuffing map.

Haha excuses excuses! I said 'recognise this one lads?' to which Corkin AND yourself replied 'yeah, it's the demo track!' and then started the race. Funny how myself and Corkin went the right way around the bend - know the maps? Nope, you don't!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooob.....

Yea well the (most) cheated/glitched times on the test track in time trials have been removed and yours truely is currently sitting pretty in 11th place overall ;). You can stick that in your TVR spinning, Noobzor calling, excuse giving pipes and smoke it :P. Hopefully should be able to improve my nurburg time where I am currently losing over 12 seconds to the top guy.. lol. Got a few other tracks that i should be able to improve on and hopefully get myself settled in the top 10...

Well I'm now up to 235th in the world on time trial, couple of times I can easily improve so I'd imagine I'll be higher soon. Leigh's now 9th. :o

Boys and girls, you are looking at the current number 1...
On R2 class, Suzuka west hotlap anyway.
Still awesome though. Ive always been up near the top on leaderboards but have now officially managed to take my first number 1.. Wonder how long it will stay there lol.
EDIT: LOL, i knew I shouldnt post it on here. Did the time yesterday but decided not to brag, literally the second I post it, it gets beaten :P. Well you are looking at the number 2, formally number 1, and I will attempt at a later point to reclaim my glory lol

Wow, I care.
Boast much?
What a ****.
Some of us are interested - if there was never a #1, what would be the point of anyone trying to better it? At least two of the current top 100 are people we know and can ask for help and advice to try and reach that level. To put them down simply smacks of jealousy.
And considering you took the time to reply, obviously you care.

Just so you all know. o o nuke o o, t360, and wii box, all have glithced times so I am actually 13th overall. ;) Pretty good I will say. I would be very happy to stay within the top 20 on overall time trials with the quality of players out there.
Oh and it wasnt the time trials suzuka west that I was first on, it was in hotlap. (although I may need top re-run the timetrial now lol)
Search: Hotlap>R2>Real world tracks>Suzuka west.
I am currently second, although I feel tjhat I may be able to give the top guy a giood run for his money... Not right now though as i am currently quite drunk and typing this very carefully and slowly lol. Cheers for the support though renegade, if you need any help at any time with cars, car set ups, or general tips, then give me a shout and i will be glad to help you out..

I've just been watching xleague tv and a forza 2 competition was on and I'll tell you what, I aint half disappointed...most of the people were just trying to ram each other off the course. I mean that's not racing really is it. Probably one out of eight of them was not getting involved and I'm glad, but the others were...what a joke!

I gave up on xleague tv. It shows every game in the absolute worst light possible - the competetive one. Funny how mr McLean (PES #1) was bragging about being on TV, until people watched it and said 'yeah sure you can win every game, but by god it isnt half boring to watch' - then he got pissy.
