Just wondering, will halo 2 only be played on original xboxs at XL 2? Cos i normally play on a 360, and suck at xbox1's, so is there any way round it if so?

Halo2 will be played on Xbox only for obvious reasons. If you play on 360 the only difference when plugged into a standard tv is the pad...as such you can purchase an adaptor which allows Xbox 360 pads to be used on an old Xbox. Sorted

So there will 100% be no problems? I won't bring my 360 pad and then get an umm well actually... because MLG say absolutely no 360 pads for Halo 2. Oh and you're sure that it will work? I mean I don't want to get it to find out that it only runs if I modify my xbox.

Yeah it needs to be tested tbh. Do you know why MLG say no use of 360 pads?

Because its a different pad probably.
You can guarentee that if someone uses a none xbox pad ie the 360 pad then the 360 pad user wins an ffa round or something else then theres gonna be a wedge of whining kids crying about the use of the 360 pad.

The only reason I see a problem is if the 360 pad gives an unfair advantage to the player. Obviously a standard 360 pad isnt programmable so its pretty safe to assume that it doesnt.

They don't give anyone an unfair advantage and any kid that says it does is a whining BK tbh... I will get one anyway, test it out and report back. As for MLG not using it, thats because they to be 'proper', everything identical etc etc.

MLG
Who?
There will be kids at the next MLG saying, are you 100% sure we cant use 360 pads? cause Matchbox XL lets us use them..
;)
Surely everything would be easier if you just bought an xbox pad?

Playing on an xbox pad would mean getting used to it, again, which i can't be bothered doing. I'd be hitting non-existent bumper buttons to talk or switch nades, and the shape of the controller is different too. Basically, i wouldn't be at the top of my game, and if my team is aiming to do well then i have to be. Plus i lost my headset, and only own a big ugly old xbox pad, so this is cheaper.

Thought I'd jump in here and point out that, I tried using my Xbox 360 Wired Controller on the Original Xbox and it wouldn't respond to any input.
Has anyone actually used a 360 Pad on a Xbox because as far as I was aware it never worked.

What did you test it with Big D?

Well intentionally I only gave it a quick spin around the Xbox Dashoboard wwhere by it done nothing, then I tried playing a Game (MechAssualt), I know not exactly the newest title floating around but it didn't work.
Anyway I'm getting Halo 2 tomorrow, so if no one else hasn't gave that game a spin I'll tell you how I get on. But bar that glimer of hope for you, it looks like a No Show, I might point out that this Xbox has had limited Xbox Live connectivity and is a close to launch Xbox Console so I don't know about any updates that may have arrived that enabled this feature, later on.
However that's my attempt for you, enjoy!

Were you using one of the USB adaptors linked at the top?
edit: if this doesnt work then the only thing I can suggest is you get practising with an S-pad asap trunky! :D

Yep...and I used a Wired Controller not a Wireless one with a Dongle.
I take a picture but my parents stole my Camera for their Holiday trip. Both the USB Adapter and the Wired Controller are in working order as well, as the Adapter picked up my Apple Keyboard and the Wired Controller I used earlier on the 360....Even the Ring Of Light flashes when you boot up the Xbox Console.
But No... Doesn't work unfortunately.

Bugger :(
@ trunk munky - unless someone finds another way then it looks like you best get practising on your old xbox asap. It only takes a few hours to get used to the old pad again so hopefully you'll be at the peak of your game come XL

Well tbh I don't know what you were expecting from a LAN tournament that holds Halo 2 events but I havn't seen many big ones using Xbox 360's to play on.

I'll look into it I know a complete xbox geek who knows everything about them... I'd have to say more than your average MS technician (it's really quite sad) so he'll no for sure.

Cool, i've already ordered it though, so i guess i'll find out soon enough.

Ok damn, it didn't work. The wired 360 controller won't switch on when plugged into xbox1, and the wireless one even with the charge kit has the same problem. Oh well

Bugger! Looks like you best get practising on the old Xbox mate. Like I said, it only takes a few hours to get used to Halo2 on an old pad again. ;)
