Looks definite that me and my brother are going again. But I think I might be Brazil-ing it up and go with the crowd, at least it makes it a definite fair game. I will probably take a camera or free up space on my phone to get some pictures.
Hopefully we'll see this:

later than the group stages. ;)
Gaskin's fired up and ready to go. Up to 58th on pesrankings now, and the top 32 going to an event sounds tasty. ;)

Yea hopefully we can be drawn in seperate groups this time *cough* ;)
We will be there, although again we have the problem of popssibly being a few minutes late (at least this time we know where it is) As long as you have our word that we WILL be there though?
I hate to admit it. I think Im going to use Brazil. (Get your judging eyes off of me Renegade!) It was so frustrating at the last event to create more chances than the other player but still manage to lose (or mostly draw) games because the other player was able to simply drive through my defence and score with ease.
I finished 3rd at XL, and scored the most goals of anyone in any group when using Brazil, so as an experiment I would like to see what kind of damage I can do with them at the Pesrankings event this weekend.
Farrmark

I'll be using either France or Argentina as I refuse to use Brazil in ANY event :)

(Farrmark get your judging eyes off me!)

No, in all honesty I look forward to the event, and also am prepared for all of the hate and abuse that I shall receive for playing as Brazil. You can sleep at night knowing that I do it very ashamedly. :P

You won't get any hate or abuse off me :)
People can pick whoever they want, I've played as all sorts of "lesser" teams and got results against some of the best players on Rankings using them :)

I picked France at the last event but then lost to some Brazil whores, so I'd rather be a Brazil player (rather than a whore) and beat those who don't deserve to win!

Just wanted to check on some of the rules if possible.
Says on the events page that the event will be:
Red Arrows
International teams
Only 2 teams qualify.
Just wanted to see if there was an clarification on this. I am happ with either team set so not bothered about that. International is fine. Red arrows? I heard that this event was going to be green, but again, not overly bothered again if I am honest, everyone is on the same.
My main gripe lies with the only 2 players qualify. If it is the same as last tournament, with a possible 10 players in each group. While it is good to have at least 9 games, only having 2 go through is really harsh! Shortening from 4 people to 2 people only saves one games worth of time, and with the internet systmes hopefully up this time, shouldnt the tournament be able to go quicker anyway?
Either that or my suggstion would be to have 8 groups instead of 4 (obviously with enough entrants only) It would be less games, but with more chance of going through it just seems better.. ? Thoughts?

Good event. Managed to win 4 out of my 6 group games and finish third in the group, drawing with Barr2k. (Just wanted to point out that last 2 events I have drawn with Barr and Benandrews.. ;) )
Played against a good player in the last 16 who was bravely using Netherlands and managed to apparently top his group. Beat him 4-2 though, and in all honesty felt fairly comfortable.. Although he did come from 3-0 down to 3-2 which had me sweating for a few minutes.
Predictably me and Dan (kHz Gaskin) Were then told that we were drawn against each other in the quarter finals. Just the draw that neither of us wanted really as it could have been completely unpredictable. We did later concede half way through the match that at the very least it meant that one of us was gonna get through to the semi's
I managed to win the game 3-0 against him with the rest of kHz watching which was pretty cool. Had a good game, I felt that it was probably my best game of the day, I defended well and contrary to what Dan says, scored good goals.
The semi's were a bit of a shambles really. Playing against Arjun Kandola. Conceded a shocking goal in the first 5 minutes with an annoying cut back. The rest of the game was close, I felt that I held him pretty comfortably to just the one goal, only showing him the touchline's on every attack. Didn't really create enough chances in all honesty though. Managed to have a few half chances but not overly clear. Probably should have got a goal back earlier though. Did in the end manage to squeeze through and equalise. Game went to extra time and basically the guy scored from two corners to win the game 3-1. Very annoying goals but what can you do to stop them really. Once he had scored the first my passing went even more pear shaped than it had been throughout the match. Felt I could have played better, but in fairness I didnt really ever play well enough in the match to win.
Arjun went on to win the match and is a fairly decent player. Not the best I have played against - Personal opinion.
Anyway. Great event. Finished Top 4 which is fairly respectable I suppose ;). Maybe next time!

Alrite lads this is my first post on this site reading comments really on gamestation event.
It was great event really chuffed that i won it meaning 2 Bpeg Wins in a row and 4 final appearances in a row at bpeg events for me. Especially with the hostile crowds stirred up by Matt im guessing lol after i beat him and wayneo 11 in quarters and first round of knockouts and complete lack of practice on 360 before event (as ceejay re-iterated with in his words "a 4-0 pasting in the warm up game" lol as i havent got a Xbox 360.
I agree with you iceman semis was a very tight game and it wasnt easy for me to bring the best from brazil with the shock of the hostilitly from the crowd lol i was quite surprised. In all fairness you were showing me to the touchline with some good defensive play and as for some reason my plan in that match was to cross the ball as many times as i can and in the end it payed off with 2 headers you played well but agree with you towards end passing was going pearshaped. good game hope to play you again at next bpeg 360 congrats on reaching Semis M8:)

I had a good win in my first game, shame the next 5 group games yielded only 3 draws and 2 defeats :(
However, the benefit of being in the smallest group and the fact that someone hammered Shady 6-0 meant that I progressed into the knockouts on goal difference.
I was then unfortunate enough to draw 3 time Gamestation champ Ayzee in the last 16 :(
A 6th minute bullet from Adriano was the difference between the teams as I just couldn't get enough support up to Henry using my 4-5-1 formation, maybe I'll change that for next time.......
Congrats Arjun :)

Well done to Arjun
Jammy against me in the quarters and I feel he only got through due to using some real lame tactics.... he should of at least had two players sent off for clinical fouls when I was going towards goal..
Good event, but once again even though I had a good day of results.... I lost a match in the knockouts that I did not derserve to.... I just keep messing up..
Sort of points out that not always the best players make the finals of events..... which was shown on Sunday.... the final was very poor quality whereby both players were trying to cutback each other.... Have to say, both Ben and Arjun are quality players..... but their tactics are cheap, boring and quite frankly not what playing pes is about.....
I respect a player like Farrmark more due to the way he plays... he may not win... but his a hell of a lot more technically better at the game than the two players who made the final...
Not wanting to make an issue of it lads.... but lets start playing with abit more flair and also start respecting your opponents.... cutbacks etc are very lame... even though they are defendable....There are other ways to score....

That was a bit underhanded considering ive only treated you and other admins including Farrmark with upmost respect in every event
As not having any practice on a 360 at all i feel i did quite well overall and in the final it was clear that against Ben it wasnt going to be the most exciting final with so much at stake and as you said "conflicting styles" though i wouldnt put myself in the same style of play bracket with Ben andrews with no disrespect to him as he is a quality player

Personally I feel Ben is a brilliant player, I think he was only using 'dirty tactics' to try and counter what he saw in your previous matches. I've got nothing against cut backs personally, but I do dislike hacking someone down when they're through on goal, but I suppose it's just another tactic. You're a good player and I look forward to having a chance to play you at the next event.
Now, if this is going to go into a little argument on this matter then can you do it over PM's or MSN? Nobody likes to see arguments. Or you can keep it clean like it is at the moment. :)

It all comes down to whether people would rather win or enjoy it. It never appears to me as though people can do both. I know I can score by cutbacking, but I don't enjoy it and I might lose games because I hate doing it. In my league game against Konspiracy, I profusely apologised for cutbacking for one goal, and felt really bad about it. I know it's defendable, but it has a high chance of scoring and by the time you know they are doing it, the damage is done. I'm not saying Arjun does it, but I've always felt that ranking systems bring out the worst in players. Same with any online game - nobody would ever have cheated Halo 2 if it wasn't for the rankings, and the 'need' to keep winning is what brings out questionable play on PES. It's almost as if to compete at the highest level you need to resort to cheap tactics and forget the actual skill.
I'm not accusing anyone of doing it, just an observation.

Farrmark - I would happily discuss this at PESFan if you didn't have trigger happy refs and a code of conduct that has ripped the very heart from PESFan. Used to absolutely love that place, until your refs started holding grudges. And I'm sorry but the whole place is so far up Rob McLean's arse it's pathetic.
Although I've heard you play in the spirit, so fair play to you. I also try to, but more and more these days PES is being reduced to make every match so formulaeic. Just to keep up with standards you need to be a Brazil cutbacker and I just can't be arsed to try to keep up anymore.

Yeah ill have to agree with last comment as it did ruin the match and like a guy said earlier in this forum cutbacks you dont want to do them, but before you know it the balls in the net as you said its extremely hard to do them on 360 but yet still possible.
The tactic i used in our match was lame and im not one who wont eat humble pie when i have to:D lol
yet genuinly compared to a few other players who use these tactics im by far not the worst or a frequent user of them i think that match was a one off (as i dont think ive had any other complaints about the way i play except from Andy Marvin who said i cutback yet i scored a 30 yarder and took on 4 players and scored in last 2 minutes:confused: )
as match before against wayneo was a classic and semi-final was a decent game
P.S i know this is really inappropriate considering the discussion were having but has pesrankings sent those Event prizes to you yet

Just wanted to chip in where possible.
I thought the event was a good one, from the guys at the last 2 birmingham events I have felt that I have probably played all of the top guys (maybe with the exception of a couple). I have played against Ben when I was England, in which I managed to get a draw, I have played against Barr, which I managed to get a draw (only due to some good defending, and a good finish on my only opportunity of the match lol), Beaten Gaskin, and lost to Arjun.
All of you are very good players. Out of the lot I felt personally that the hardest game was against Barr who played very well and completely limited my chances using his 5 at the back.
The semi's against Arjun is the game he claims to have scored his only cutback, and in all honesty I had absolutely no gripes about it whatsoever. I always feel that if I let a player into my box, near the goaline, his only option is to play a cutback, and if I again cannot defend it then that is my fault and the goal is a deserved one. I am going to officially say that I dont think that an individual cutback, or a couple in a game is a problem. If you are in that position then there is no reason why you should not cut the ball back.
Now, not wanting to get into the cutback debate too much since it is obvioiusly something that is never going to be resolved, I thought i would go a bit more personal. Personally I think that Barr is probably one of the best players I have played against, although not without his flat 5 man defensive strategy which some people could consider to be cheap in itself, which is why the 'cheap' debate will never be resovled. Personally I was quite happy to play against it though and was glad that i managed to tuck away my only real chance of the game, and keep barr to only a goal (an achievement in itself)
I thought that Arjun was a strong player. Frustrating is probably the best word to describe him which again is a very useful tactic, just seemed to keep the ball and put it in dangerous areas alot. I didnt particualrly have the best game, but all credit to Arjun, he kept me from getting into it.
Ben is a very good player also. Really does pull out some lovely moves, and whilst he does score from a few cutbacks, I dont think that I would lump him into a catagory of a cheap player either. He doesnt only use this tactic to score, and only uses it when he has no other available option.
All 3 players (highlighted because they were at the forefront of this debate) I consider to be great players. Not one would I personally say was cheap, and I would only groan at being drawn against any of them because I knew that I was gonna have a tough match ahead of me. Not having ever played against this mclean guy, I am gonna say that I dont think it is easy as being a cheap player to get to the top. I think that it is the good players at the top and deserve to be their, but other players will Always look for an excuse as to why they lost..

I fully see what your saying and finally some clarity on this debate which has taken over this forum.
At Bpeg every1 is very friendly and approachable and yes when you are in a position with nothing else to do but cutback its the option you take whether you do without seeking to do it if you can put it like that. :o
i hope this is end of this debate as the event is over and was very succesful and im very proud and happy ive won my first xbox 360 BPEG and looking forward to the next PS2 event on 17th June which should be another cracking event!:)

PES6 on the PS2 is absolutely awful. Considering I very nearly went Pro on PES5 for the PS2 (only calling it off because I had to move to Wales and work full time), I was staggered by how bad they made PES6 on it. I still have it and own it, but only played about 20 matches on it. Bought a 360 and got PES6 for it, and it's... like coming home.

Pes 6 on the Ps2 can be a fantastic game when playing against cheap players... but the game is prone to being exposed by players who use the cutback as their only line of attack...
which bores the hell out of me :)
Good points by Iceman
The only reason I use 5 at the back is to try and reduce a players chance at cutbacking me... believe me I would much rather play 3 at the back.... but in these types of events... your opponents don't always show the same respect in playing the game and will go for cheap methods...
I just love slamming countless goals on the break against someone who keeps trying to cheap me out :)

that is true it had the prospect of being a great game and at first it was and still is as long as the person you play against is a decent player you can have some cracking games on their and i think at bpeg now i remember there used to be loads of cheap players but liek last ps2 event i won was first one for a while and all my matches were brilliant and so were my mates all quality great pes matches whcih was nice to see with icing on the cake in getting to the final... lets hope next ps2 event will be similar and will be i reckon more difficult with wayneo and ayzee coming as they were absent last time will be a massive test with every1 on a level playing field with the bpeg team..:)

aint been on here for a while due to exams etc but i am quite shocked at what people have been saying about me. In the event i did not score one cutback at all, i dont see how i am this lame player as your saying matt:confused: arjun you then say you are not in the same category as me, im taking that as if i do more cutbacks than you:confused: i find that rather funny due to the fact the majority of your goals, in the matches i was watching, were cutbacks. i dont want to be portrayed as a lame cutbacker on this site due to the fact everyone will hate me. In the last gamestation matt i beat you 3-1 and in that game none of my goals were cutbacks just great finishes.

I get the feeling theres gonna be a flood of cutbacks at the ps2 event. I never cutback unless the guy im playing has attempted one as then he deserves as many as i can kick in his net:p happened at the last ps2 one i went to, this guy in a red hood scores 2 goals within the first 10 mins and i could see him sitting there talking to his mate thinking he was the boss...even though he had cutback with both goals. So here i am thinking this guys in for it :D Match ended something like 5-2 to me and yes every single goal was a cutback and i grinned at him after every single one.

aint been on here for a while due to exams etc but i am quite shocked at what people have been saying about me. In the last gamestation matt i beat you 3-1 and in that game none of my goals were cutbacks just great finishes.
rant over :D
Ben?? where has this come from? i thought this event was long over and ben i think heat of the moment in the comment hat i cutback in most of my goals i recall one but your entitled to your opinion and im entitled to mine as im not gonna hide what i see and i still feel you do more than i do. simple as that.
In the way i said im not in the same playing bracket is because Matt in his earlier comments ages ago compared us both as cutbackers which i can only put down to getting knocked out in the knockouts stages in the last minute and feeling bitter, we are not thats why i said dont put in the same style of play bracket as you as we dont play the same as you tend to work your way towards the goal passing etc.. where as i more recently bang in the crosses wherever possible no offence was meant and i think this issue of cutback has been dragged stupidly as i feel that we shoudnt be in this discussion as we definitely dont cutback as part of our game and dont base our style of play in "humping the corner" flag. And on the 360 your not going to get to the final like me and you did by basing your style of play on that.
Goalatzio: I think i played the same guy he was at the last ps2 event with Club teams drew 2-2 with him i got pissed off and finished with 8 men by end of game i gave him a little indication of the raw dirty power in makelele little legs lol :p
Anyway hope everything is clear as i thought by comments earlier by me and matt this discussion was over with and an amicable solution was found but i guess not
Final Comment lads lets stop this bickering and handbag fighting and get back to the enjoyment of PES
