Am I the only on that has had this download be really slow? Maybe its just cause its a big file.. I dont know I dont download many demos really. Been going for probably about 15 minutes and it is 9% done..

I only ask because it seems no-one on any site i have visited has expressed any concern with it taking a while to d-l. Maybe people are just far more patient than me.. lol

Glad I wasn't the only one! Took the M3 out for a spin first... oopsie!! You're right, I play games like a girl...

Full n00b gadgets on for Moose methinks :o

As for the download, mine positively raced down - kicked it off at about ten to six, done by 6! woot!

Loved the demo pretty much. I'm done with it now though, one track doesn't last too long without Live or any other game modes.

Definitely going to preorder it for that Nissan Fairlady

Holy ****, I am so pleased I preordered the LE copy of Forza 2 :D

All the assists off I am now running low 52's with R2 cars, the 550 seems to be my goto car at the moment, it's really a case of grabbing it by the scruff of the neck and throwing it into the corner with plenty of throttle and powering out, unlike the MC12 and Zonda which need a gentle coaxing through the corner.

Very good fun, for extra excitment hit UP on the dpad while racing to get some very cool real-time telemetry :D

What does 'up' actually do sub?

I tried the Zonda with all assists off this morning - I could abrely get the thing moving in a straight line, never mind cornering with it! Admittedly I've never been great at racing games. Despite owning every single car on GT4, but then again GT never compared to simulations like Forza. I might have to stick with the assists on...

Demo impressions - a longer course (or more of them) would have been nice. The car selection is good, the sound is amazing. The graphics are good - not tremendous but still nice. Tracks are sharp, the distant backgrounds look amazing. On the cars, the reflections are relatively ugly but you tend not to notice them. There are quite a lot of jaggies on the details on the cars though, but at high speeds you don't notice them, and when cornering the cars handle very realisticaly. Damage is good and looks very real, and the whole thing is smooth as butter. Very enjoyable.

UP brings up the telemetry displays, so you can see tyre friction, g-forces, suspension travel, tyre pressure, camber, temperature, loads of handy things which I think will come in handy when setting up the cars. Unlike Forza 1 which only had telemetry in replay mode and was pretty awkward to use.

It's actually quite handy in the demo to see how warm tyres affect the car, piling into the first corner straight off the line and expecting to stop within 75 yards is madness, next lap around with warm tyres? Perfect :D

Enjoying the demo so far. Seems to be the forza I know and love. The Rumble strips are alot slippier than they used to be on the first game which is taking me some getting used to. Have slid around a few corners which i very annoying.. anyway..

The biggest challenge for me in the demo now is working out when to get back on the throttle, particularly out of the first and last corners I can't quite get it right.

Woo. Just ran a 49.879 with the saleen S7R. Pleased with that one. Il add it to my list of times ;)

I like the first corner. Not sure I have definitely figured the optimal line on it yet, but with forza experience I would say that it is one of those corners which people will take differently. Personally I like to brake late into it, stray out wide then power through the corner. Im sure that people will like to double apex it, but up the hill im not sure how well that will work. However, with the next corner only a few metres down the road, just simply sticking to the inside all the way round might possibly be quicker. This is where i need my ghosts! lol.

The last corner I really dont like either, not enough room to go wide for me which i never enjoy. Cant quite seem to get it how i want it..

Last corners a pain, the one before just as you start going down the hill is really easy, come of the gas slightly, knock it down a gear if need be and throw it in on the curb.

I think the best trick for the last corner is to run through it quite slowly, about 70 and stick as far right as you can and as you get on the gas let the car understeer to the outside.

Im a bit quicker with it off however catching the car when the TC is on is a bit harder, once the car starts to go you end up being pretty much a passenger.

Well I'm using automatic and all of the assist are turned off...maybe that's why I cant get passed the first corner lol

Manual.
Depends on the car. with all assists set to off you CAN go faster, you can brake quicker, pull out of corners faster etc etc. However that is only if you can manage to drive the car properly with them off. I have stuck to having ABS on most of the time so far but TCS and STM get turned off usually.
Used braking only lines to start with, now have them turned off as they just annoy me. If you just get used to ignoring them and figuring out your own lines you will have the same effect though

Just for reference I am constantly updating my times post. I have even arranged the times in order of my best so you can see which cars I am quickest with. For all you sceptics, I even have (very crappy quality) pictures for the top time of each class.

Update: Under 51 secs in all R2 class cars ;)

Anyone had a go at trying to beat any of my times then? Just checked them against some of the UNBELIEVABLY fast guys over at forzacentral and some of them are pretty quick. Im the quickest guy in a mercedes SLR so far ;)

After playing the edmo a fair bit I can officially say that I think the game is spot on. They really have nailed what a driving game should be about. It is completely perfect. To get a fast time you need to be smooth through the corners, not apllying too much throttle too early to get out but only when the car is stable.

It is superb and I cannot wait for the full game. My only gripe right now with the demo is the AI. Not that it is too easy as it has already been announced that the demo AI is set to Easy, but instead that alot of the time they just have no recognition of where you are. They will force you off the road to keep to the racing line even if you are right next to them. This is the one thing that needs to be addressed. Otherwise the game is so spot on. Hope some of you PGR guys are realising what a REAL racing game is ;)

Cant get anywhere close to your 49.879 (about 51.5 is my best) in the Saleen...saying that I havent set down any times in manual yet as I dont like the control config n theres no options to change buttons.

I got used to manual on the old forza obviously so the button configuration was the same. I accidently raced one time on auto and just couldnt get anywhere near my fastest times with it. I always found on forza 1 that i could still set fairly decent times in auto, but quicker in manual. But without any set up on the car, gear configuration etc. In a stock car Auto really does seem to kill your times..

Leighs tip of the day:

In C class cars use ABS, but turn STM and TCS off. It will be slightly harder to control the car at first, but keep it smooth through the corners and dont power out until straight. If you feel your car spinning from underneath you then back off the throttle. Wtahc your lap times come crashing down ;)

Can't do crap in the Saleen for some reason, and hate the SLR, ran a 48.9 in the 550 this morning although I had a huge tow off the Corvette down the main straight at the start of the lap :D

Just set a 1.03.303 in the nissan fairlady (I have pics, I had to to submit it to the forzacentral scoreboard) Which according to Forzacentral is the 8th fastest C class time in any car so far ;)

Just got the 8th fastest A class time as well.

Ford GT 57.097 (again I have picture evidence)

Convinced I can get the Ford GT to run a 56..

I cant wait for the full game...

Think I must be the only one here who was not impressed by the forza demo, sure it was realistic (kind of)

but the only decent graphics on show were either in the replay or the sky?
why is there no apparent AA on any of the cars in the game?
why are they so shiny? driving the rx8 in grey on the nose view is stupid it acts like a mirror, i have that car and trust me its not that shiny!

More than likely the other cars are the same but to be honest i nailed each race class and turned it off.

Sadly dissapointed, now please prove me wrong as i really want to like this game!
