Welcome to Matchbox360's second SOTF competition.
The basic rules are still the same, but we have taken your feedback on board and are going to use a different way of submitting and voting for signatures this week. So please read the rules:
1. You will have one week time to create a themed sig [Max size 400x100] . No bigger sigs will be accepted.
2. Signatures must not contain the username or Gamertag of the creator.
3. Once you complete your signature, please PM it to myself, carocat. Direct Link if you're too lazy to search for my profile (http://community.matchbox360.co.uk/private.php?do=newpm&u=19)
4. All signatures must be received by midnight Friday, 6th of April.
5. The signatures will then go to a public vote without revealing it's creator. You may not vote for your own sig, we will check for that. If you do vote for yourself your vote will be removed.
6. The winner will pick the theme for the next competition.
Basically, it's simple, people have complained that there is a clique on here and that the competition is a popularity contest. So, we'll try it differently this time. That also means that you can't use your signature until the competition [including voting is over].
To continue with the game themes, after all Matchbox360 is a gaming site, this weeks theme will be: Grand Theft Auto. You can create a sig using material/themes from any GTA game.
Good Luck everyone!

Although rule number 5 explains your reasons for this rule, a signature is generally, by definition, some writing or other image/symbol that uniquely identifies the individual by whom it was made. Kind of ironic.
"6. The winner will pick the theme for the next competition."
Couldn't this lead to an unfair "winning streak", by which an entrant can keep giving himself a head-start by having started work on a signature before the next competition begins, because he knows what he'll choose as the next theme? The head-start helps him to win that next competition, and so on...
Sure they'd need a legitimate win to start with, but it's something to think about.

Well it's hardly a head start when you get a week to do it, it's not like someone will run out of time.

I know it's unlikely. But the winner could have an easier time, getting to choose a theme for which he already has a good idea, instead of being restricted to having to think up an idea within the constraints of an already-decided theme like the other entrants would have to do, within a shorter time-frame as well.
Maybe nobody minds. :^) But I thought I'd point it out just in case.

People were complaining that the last one was a popularity contest. We want to counteract that and have changed the rules for this week.
After this competition is over we will give everyone the chance to decide which format they'd want.
Personally I think that there wasn't a popularity contest with the last one. Yes, I admit I thought that there would be one, but there wasn't and people voted for Razors because they liked it.

Why not give everyone a bit more of an incentive to win? I personally see no problem in giving them the chance to choose the theme. It doesn't take 2 weeks to make a sig, does it?
As for everyones information, the last theme was Leighs idea and this one mine, as Razor didn't have a clue what he should choose.
Will you be entering Mr Torrance?

But I think most people have a different idea of what a "sig" is on forums than what one is by definition, anyway.
Will you be entering Mr Torrance?I think I have to, now. :D

I do think you have to, yes. :p
Sorry that GTA isn't your style, but maybe you can choose something better for the next one if you win. ;)

Bit of a disappointing turnout so far, only two very different entries. Come on guys, where are the others?

Yep, it wouldn't have shown an unread post otherwise and everyone would've missed it. :)
Another double post which will be merged once someone else replies in here:
You guys have less than 2 days to PM me your sigs. Come on!
