Will there be monetary prizes/buy ins via Paypal?

Unfortunately there wont be any cash prizes...but you will have bragging rights as the official MatchBox360 poker king! :D
We are working on ways of restricting those players that tend to go "all in" all the time. As always if you have any suggestions then please feel free to leave your feedback.
On a side note...M$ should have enabled gamerpoints gambling IMO.

Yeah count me in also.
If you play tournament Poker then it cuts down on the mugs that push it in from the off (and if they do they wont last long), also form memory I'm sure you can set up pot limit instead of no limit.
As a suggestion for a very cheap price you could buy a chip and have it printed up with something like 'Matchbox 360 Champ' for very little cost (under a fiver).
Renegade
22-03-2007, 10:10 PM
Yeah that chip would be really sweet! Or a cheap steel bracelet, like the WSOP ones :D
I'm saying no to Pot Limit though. All-ins are tremendously tense with No Limit Hold 'Em, as long as people use them as part of their play and not just every time they get a bullet.
I think it should be a requirement that players have to use their microphones Kon - it's all part of reading the game. Also, I hate foul language at a poker table, so if there is a way of stopping that I'm all for it.

Burt, lol. I mean, in WSOP it's easy - table bans and all that. But on XBL you know how it is...

Sounds good, I'll play in this. But your not seriously going to ban foul language are you?
KONSPIRACY

It would be quite impossible and stupid to ban everyone from swearing in our online events...however as always, personal attacks, abuse or general smack talk will not be tolerated.
Joe-Fabregas-4
23-03-2007, 03:12 AM
Yeah that's what I was thinking, nothing like shouting a few swear words when you lose a hand.

IF anybody gets like that at my table, it's bad feedback and reviews I'm afraid. Every other game it's fine on, but foul language is poker blasphemy :p

Mind you this game is bollocks - I got two straight flush draws yesterday.... that just doesnt happen in poker, ever.
Hardly a hand goes by when someone doesnt have three of a kind or something ridiculous.

If anybody is going to go all-in first hand or anything like that, don't bother entering. It's not funny, not clever, and very very common. We've seen it before, it doesn't make an impact, and it makes you look extremely stupid.

What if you get 2 aces? :)

If you get dealt Bullets, the last thing you should be doing is going All-In with your first bet. Unless you're seriously short stacked and a big blind would double you up (probably due to going all-in with crap hands), anybody rushing Bullets is, as the French say, Le Moron.

But it'll be funny, jk :) Don't forget about the pussys who just keep folding the whole time until there is like two people left.

If you get **** cards you don't always play, unless you think you can actually get something out of it by pricing others out of the hand.

Any practical suggestions on how to stop ppl goin all in all the time?
Jedi Minds UK
27-03-2007, 12:16 PM
Don't think you can stop this as its part of the game.
This is what poker is all about the player who is going all in most of time dont realy stay at the table for very long.
We could agree the the max bet to say 25 % of the starting money. But how do we police this.
So if you start with 1000 points you can only have a max bet of 250 points.
Burning Toast
27-03-2007, 12:18 PM
I don't think you can stop all in's as some times they're required. You could definiately say that no all in's are allowed before the flop, easy rule, but will also need to limit or set the bet limits.
Or you could do a limits based on time, eg upto 5mins - ?500, then 10mins - ?1000, then no limits, or etc.

There are none, it's the players discretion whether they go in or not. It's annoying, but I can assure you these players won't come out as winners.

Kon - you can't stop it. Let them do it, they won't last long. I think people here were just requesting that they don't.
In all fairness, if they want to go all-in stupidly every hand, they can do. I won't rise to it. As soon as they realise everyone on the table is A) not going to rise to it, and B) leaving them bad feedback, they will stop. That's all I can suggest anyone else to do - if somebody is being stupid, don't rise to the occasion. Let them be stupid, and watch them get knocked out.

But you see, someone will have to call the all-in bet to get them out of the comp...I just know it wont be me.

Yeah takin a load of blinds every hand isnt going to make you the most popular person at the table so I'd imagine the person will get a fair amount of grief if this situation does arise. Obviously you cant ban someone from going all in so its best leave it to ppl power! :D
Renegade
27-03-2007, 05:37 PM
Hursti - they will soon realise that All-Ins are only winning them blinds. Boredom will win the day. The worst thing is if someone has pocket 8s or 9s and thinks they can take them out and gets unlucky. That only encourages them. Unless you hit AA or KK, don't call pre-flop all-ins is the best advice I can give for cash (and play) tournaments.

Is everybody trying to say they haven't bet all in every hand at least once to win more money?
I didn't do it when I just got the game, but after looking at the scores on my friends list it was obvious that people weren't going to be on over a million if they went to a table with 20,000 and bet conservatively. If you go and bet all in you will win some and you lose some but after trying it I find that I came out with more money that I went in with.
Of course if I enter this tournament i'm not going to do it because thats just inconsiderate to the other players
Dannyooo
27-03-2007, 09:28 PM
actaully when i did got into the 2 million bankroll before the update, i tryed to loose as much as possible because i already had the achievement lol i came out with 3 million lol.
I did it to get the achievement and then shared it out amongst the others who were in the same room doing the same thing :D

Online takes a little skill, but luck is a massive part of the game - every hand it seems like someone always has a pair or three of a kind - that wouldn't happen in real life, whether you get the good hand or not is down to luck.

So is there going to be a Texas Holdem tourny? I would look forward to that. Even if people go all in all the time is no big deal. If they get lucky in 1 round they won't do in the next. You will always get people who will get bored half way through a game and just go all in anyway, there is no way to stop it.
