Halo 3 Beta Release [Archive]

Has anyone heard anything about the Beta release? Ive heard from a few people that the Halo 3 Beta might be being released around this time and Bungie.net is down again (to implement the halo 3 stats?).

If anyone has heard anything please reply.

Also, I dont actually have Crackdown yet. Say the Beta is released today, will I still be able to play it? I dont really know how its supposed to work.

I don't think you can play the beta without crackdown, not sure though...

I meant - If the Beta is released today, will I still be able to buy a Crackdown with an invitation and play it? I heard they were limited edition or something? I dunno. Will I be sweet?

For those of you who havent got a copy of Crackdown yet and, like myself, are only interested in the Halo3 Beta then I recommend the following...

Blockbusters currently have a games promotion whereby if you trade in a top 10 chart game then you can get a selection of games (including Crackdown, GRAW2 and GoW) for ?15.

Game did a trade in on lost planet and you got crackdown for 15 quid.

Beta will be around may time i would think. It would give bungie, plenty of test time before pressing disks for a fall release.

I know GoW is in their chart...not too sure about the others. Your best bet is popping into your local BBs and see for yourself. Most BBs are very much games orientated now (well mine is) as they are doing more business in gaming than DVDs.

I've seen copies of Crackdown with Beta stickers slapped all over them in a number of shops so I dont think it will be a problem. As soon as a date is announced then I'll prob go get my copy of Crackdown.

I have heard though that some stickers say 'may contain' and other stickers say 'does contain'

Or some kind of wording to those effects. I cannot confirm it myself, but apparently most copies of crackdown have the sticker on them, but some only say 'may' have halo 3 beta and dont actually have an invitation inside..

Is this true?

Well the ones I saw said MAY include the invitation to the Halo 3 beta. I went to the counter and asked if it actually did inclue the beta, he was confused and didn't answer me. But I bought it in the end hoping it'd include the beta. He gave me the copy and on the front it said "Includes invitation to the Halo 3 beta". So be careful..

Theres a deadline, I think it's batch of discs no 3 when the beta won't be in crackdown, better safe that sorry.

For those planning to get the game and steal the invite (as I was going to), it's hard coded to the disk so you need the Crackdown disk in to play it. I've pretty much finished Crackdown (really good game even if I did only get it for the beta) and would still say it's worth buying.

Tbh crackdown is worth buying although it can be a bit too easy and boring at times its allot better than some of the other games out right now and getting the beta is a big bonus really:D

Hi guys,

Halo3 Beta testing commences on May 16th...

Even second hand copies of Crackdown with the sticker on will work,
So try E-Bay.just make sure the seller has a sticker on the game.

Beta testing is entered via the Front end (game title screen) of Crackdown.

Members of the Bungie web site may also be invited to play but dont hold your breath on that one!!

Testing will take place for 1 month.

Darn tootin' I will. Currently I turn my xbox on to play Geometry War and BF2:MC sporadically. If H3 brings back the whole community thing that H2 did ( I.e. Pretty much everyone here popping in and out of each others lobbies constantly) then I'll be a very happy man, and might not flog the 360...

The beta will be worth it just to see how much Cormac complains about everything!
