Anyone here play Counter Strike Source?
If so, anyone know how to set up a god damn Dedicated server? I forwarded all my ports, opened up ports for the firewall, set up a static IP, and still no success in people being able to find/join my Server.
Any help would be appreciated! :)
Just googled it and came up with this:

I think that's for Linux, not windows, however if it's for Windows too, it looks too confusing! lol
Cheers Anyways
In your Steam games list you should find one under Tools called something along the lines of "HLDS" or "Dedicated Server Tool" which will let you run a dedicated server that way.
However you need a good upload speed to get a decent player count in, 256kbps will let you have 4 people, maybe 6 if you are lucky. Source is a big hog on upload speed and CPU cycles, you would really be better off finding an empty server to play in, it'll be far easier than trying to setup a CSS server, did it many a time when I was hooked on CSS and it takes hours of work configuring it and optimizing configs... good times... good times :D

lol, yeah I wanted one, cause I shouldn't have too much problems hosting with 768kb upload :p
But yeah, it's far more easier joining servers, however at times my internet will drop (msn will still be on/working) but I can't surf or join servers for a couple of mins, I think Steam is "iffy" with my ISP.
If you are having connection drops then hosting a server aint the best option for obvious reasons :P

Right, I've stopped having connection drops now. :)
However it's still not letting people join/see my game, comes up with "Server not responding" when I give my mates this IP "192.168.1.139:27020" however it appears for me and I can join etc, I have forwarded 23 out of the 39 ports PortForward told me as I couldn't do the rest cause my router/config says "Table Full"
"192.168.1.139" is the IP, PortForward told me for the Static IP address setup.
I also gave my mates my real IP address and then add ":27020" on the end, but still no luck - "Server not responding" even does this for me when I search.
Router: BT Voyager 205, using USB instead of Ethernet now as I thought that might solve my server problem, but it didn't. :(
I used HLDStool.exe and updated etc, but when I run that using the Console instead of GUI (GUI way won't work unless I use the one in the Steam/tools section), and it still says the game's address is "192.168.1.139" :S
Really need to get it set up, if anyone can help at all. :)
Cheers.

192.168.*.* is a set of addresses reserved for LAN's. That address will be the one your PC has on your network at home, hence why you can connect and they can't. You need to figure out your external IP (try here (http://whatsmyip.org)), tag the :27020 on the end (assuming that port is forwarded properly) and give your mates that instead.

Yeah that's what I have done, I gave them my External IP add told them to add :27020 on the end, I forwarded it via my Routers config page, and added the port to the firewall exceptions list, but still no luck. :(

Gayness, I got it so I can see my game if I use my External IP, however, it doesn't appear in the Server list, and my mates still can't join, "Connection Failed After 4 Retries" message.
I kind of think it has something to do with NAT, but if I disable it on my Voyager 205, then my internet doesn't work. :(

Got it working, but it doesn't appear in the master server list I have to give my IP out, but I suppose it'll do, only need it for Practicing with clan and clan matches. :)
