Ok

go to about:config

right click

Go to New -> Boolean

For the name input:

config.trim_on_minimize

Select True

Restart FireFox.

Now press Ctrl + alt + del.

Go to process and highlight your Firefox process.

Look at the Mem Usage Column.

Now minimize Firefox and you will see a huge reduction in mem usage.

Nice one, done it, reduced Mem usage by about 13k - What does it exactly do to Firefox though? :p

I'll try this later, because Firefox is a heffer when it comes to eating memory.

Excellent tip. Firefox's usage goes down at least 50% when I minimise it :D

This will slow firefox down as it minimizes/maximizes, and reduce stability. If you have sufficient memory to do whatever you wanna do, don't bother.

How do you reverse this exactly?

type about:config

look for "config.trim_on_minimize"

and delete it or change it to false, each works
