PES League practice

[Gaskin]

Well me and Renegade felt the urge to play some games of pes with random teams to practice for the league.

Gaskin v Renegade

Sheffield Utd 2 v 0 Watford
I thought I played really well in this game, Renegade didn't play to his best at all. But two well worked goals.

Fulham 5 v 0 Portsmouth
Renegade played awful but I had some brilliant football, the cupboard (a.k.a Diop) scored a screamer from outside the box and was key role in the game.

Reading 1 v 2 Aston Villa
Went 1-0 up with a beautiful passing move, Renegade thought it was going to be another game which he played bad in but he soon got back into form and got two well deserved goals to win the game.

Wigan 2 v Newcastle 2
This game had me in tears. I go 1-0 up with a fantastic move, Renegade says "Is there any team I don't get battered by?" thinking he's in for another bad game. Then a magnificent pass from solano owen is through and slots it past the keeper. He then went on to score a second goal. Now the funny part.. It's added on time and Owen is clean through on goal, my keeper comes out and just as the ball slightly leaves Owen's feet the keeper clearly destroys Owen's legs and would of broken them in real life. The penalty isn't given and I play on still in laughter, I get into Renegade's box and he pulls off a pretty impressive tackle with the smallest amount of contact ever and I'm given a penalty and score. LOL! Love you Renegade.. :p

Aston Villa 1 v Tottenham 2
Renegade went up 1-0 with a Keane goal slotted underneath the keeper and I thought it was game over for me straight away. Then I get a free-kick outside of the area, Barry steps up and Renegade says "This is never going in". The ball curls right from his left foot into the top left hand corner. Amazing freekick! Can't remember Renegade's last goal, but I think it was pretty average. Deserved the win though.

Can't wait untill the league and I've got a team that I can practice with!

Yeah man, the first two games were shockers - first games of the day so I'll put it down to that. Possibly the worst I've played in ages... I've gotta check out Fulhams strength stats, they were battering Pompy all over the place... The Watford game I'm not too gutted about - Watford really are shocking, Hulse did the damage up front. The Villa game I seemed to get my form back, I started spotting the open passes and my vision seemed to come back. I also got the hang of defending a little differently against you, which seemed to pay off. Don't get me started on the Wigan equaliser, what an absolute shocker of a decision that was... Grr...

My last Keane goal was a run from the half way line that you just moved out of the way of for some reason, so I drilled it bottom corner :p

Fun games, like Gaskin says it will be nice to get a team sorted for the league so I can do some training!

Gaskin (Fulham) and I (Watford) played a few games last night (the scores are a bit sketchy: I know for definite that I won three, drew one and lost one):

Gaskin just slaughtered me in the first game: he used Radzinski to great effect and I was going to ground too often with my defenders. Once I stayed on my feet in the subsequent matches, I limited Gaskin's chances to four or five shots per match on average. And was left concentrating on the interminable task of trying to score with a team that can't shoot. Good games, Gaskin. Watford are good: good defenders, alright midfielders (Young is good), and two good strikers (King is great and the only player who looks like scoring a goal other than a tap-in).

Yeah good games, I really did use Radzinski well first game. But you managed to keep a hold of him and didn't give Diop a chance in any of the games. Also John was on a down every match and was playing like poo! I had to play alot more tactical than usual, starting to use over head through balls in the last games and blocking out your wingers. You're a good player, would like to play you when we're both our favourite teams at some point.

It's okay, I adapt to players. I'll only run at you if I think I can make it, both of you allowed me to do it to start with and I wanted to see how you'd both cope with it. I must say you both very quickly changed your defense, I was impressed.

Thanks - took me a little longer than usual (the 'Fulham Incident' it shall be known as), but I got there in the end! Truth is, PES6 encourages running at players more so than PES5 did - it takes patience to defend now, you gotta bide your time and stay calm. A lot of PES players see someone running at them and try to pressure them up close - it's suicide, anyone with a bit of forward thinking can anticipate when your tackle is coming and simply step around.

The ideal is to mix it up - have the ability to both run at players, and be able to split them apart with passes too. I think I've gotten a lot better at that recently, especially seeing as PES6 rewards counter-attacking so much. What you did well Gaskin was alternated between them. There were times I thought you were running at me and defended accordingly, but you played a sexy ball through that I wasn't close enough to intercept. The element of surprise did you good, keep it up ;)

Point in question - played an unranked game against someone that decided to use Barca (yawn). I was in a mickey taking mood and picked Sao Paolo. He played the standard Barca formation of Ronnie and Messi on the wings, with Eto'o in the middle - I double marked Ronnie and singled Messi, thinking it was all going to the horse, but I'm not kidding - every single ball for the entire game went to Messi. Everything. He didn't do anything different on any attack. So after about 25 in game minutes, I took the marker off Ronaldinho, added two more to Messi (triple marked) and put a line of my players down my left wing, so that every time he gave the ball to Messi, I had him marked and tackled, and a nice chain of passes through to my forwards who are more than capable. Barcelona 0 - 9 Sao Paolo. So predictable it made me sad :(

I have to hand it to him, after going a few goals down, he did well to come back into it and went into extra time at 3 -3 I think. I scored in the first half, thinking I had done enough to win...but then he comes back with a few goals of his own...Well played.

I have played a few practise games against my brother. Cant remember the results off the top of my head as they were a few days ago lol.

Ive been practising with Liverpool mainly as I believe with the way the league will operate I should get a fairly early pick since i got put out of the champions league early.

Anyway, Im up for a few games against anyone if you want. I am happy to be anyone and even though the league has not started yet and looks to have been delayed slightly with the announcement of our connection with pesrankings, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with these teams against teams that I wouldnt usually play against..

Ive had very mixed results with spurs so far. I can usually bag a fair few goals, but keeping them out seems to be difficult. They are pretty good. Both Dawson and King are underrated in my opinion and robinson is absolutely shocking! Defending is very hard work, but with keane and defoe's pace, matched with the lovely finish of berbatov, going forward is a joy! Davids is pretty good as well as murphy and jenas, but they havnt really got any decent players in midfield to create opportunities against a solid defense..

I got a couple of lucky goals, players in the right place at the right time and a couple of lucky bounces. Dan missed a few that were unlucky not to go in. Still deserved to win though, 5 may have been a bit much ;) Then again, if defoe could finish anything other than stupid angled chances i could have had a few more..

Second game:

I was winning 2-0 before dan quit, presumbly in a rage at radzinski for missing a cut back on the edge of the area. Took it with his left foot and spooned it over the bar, think that was breaking point..

Actually the PC froze. You deserved about two goals in the first game and I'll accept you deserved the win. Second game you also didn't deserve either of those goals and I should have been winning.

Advice: Don't play Leigh as tottenham, EVERYTHING goes his way. Luckiest player ever.

Lol. It isnt about how many goals I deserved.. You cant decide that. I had alot of possesion, put you under alot of pressure and created countless chances. This doesnt mean that I always deserved to even win the game necessarily.

Two of my goals in the 5-0 win were lucky, but in the same way, a few of my missed chances were unlucky also. How many times can you honestly say that you have played pro evo and not had any luck.. ? Even if you get a lucky bounce through to your striker, it is capatilising on this piece of luck that wins games..

PES league practice, ahh good times. I wish it could have been started by now...
