There's the part of San Andreas where you return briefly to Liberty Island and I was thinking that you actually get to play that island too...

There's just not enough hours.

I love it. Vice City is one of my favourite games and I played it again the other day. SA wasn't as good, although still a brilliant game. I'm just not sure if they can pull it off again, but I hope they do.

Yeah, I'd love to see them go back to the 80s. Vice City was plain beautiful, and unless they copy its style, it will never be matched.

Sooooo, where would we like to see the next GTA? So far we've seen London, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco....

What would you like to see and which time/era?

This is probably not true at all, but I remember reading a rumour a while back [at least a year] that the next GTA would be set in the future with flying cars, etc. Personally I think the franchise is so great, because it manages to capture the time so well and it is just so fitting. I don't know how well that would translate if the next GTA game is in the future.

But they've pretty much done all the bigger US cities now? And covered the recent years with games such as Godfather covering earlier years. Would it still sell well in the States if the next city or cities are in Europe or Asia?

What do you think?

Rio is fricking massive, and there are many other large cities around it. I think it would be class. Starting of in a shanty town then working your way up to the top, becoming a drugdealer and making trips between Miami and Brazil. That would be good.

Ah once again calibers opinion speaks the truth, they have churned out the same crap in GTA games for far too long now, theres only so much you can do in a sandbox gangster environment, 3 was fun it took GTA into 3d, vice city was good for modding and multiplayer, san andreas was, why bother? oooh bikes shiny : /

Last night the guys over at Gamertag Radio were channel surfing and ran across an interesting countdown clock on FX. It looked familiar, but was it really an ad for Grand Theft Auto IV? Yes indeed, it was an infomercial for GTA IV, but was lacking any real substance. Rockstar purchased a 30 minute spot on FX airing from 2:00AM EST to 2:30AM EST to show nothing more than a simple countdown clock (viewable above) complete with loud ticking sound. This is the same clock that appears on the official GTA IV website which is counting down to our first glimpse of the game. Let's just say this trailer better be something special Rockstar, because teasing us with a long and dull infomercial doesn't make us happy. Next week we'll see what you have to offer ... next week.

I'm disappointed that it's back in Liberty City, but I love the fact that this time it's a carbon copy of NYC. The Russian guy looks excellent, too. We can expect another incredible cinematic storyline.

Yeah, I would have loved to have seen it in London or Barcelona. The Wake-style lighting looks better than sex though. I can't wait to be slamming into Times Square admiring my shadow ^_^

Main reason I care about it character/gameworld.

Who is in NYC/Liberty City? The triads, Italian Mafia, Several gangs of Russian Mafia....

I hope to see some familiar faces too, like Kent Paul [is that the name? I mean the guy from the club in Vice City.], the Band and that crazy drug guy from SA.

However geometry wise... my god it's awful in places, the road near the beginning as the car goes down it.... ugh!

The trailer is surprisingly dark, with a Burnout Revenge colour scheme. I keep watching it thinking 'Oh God, a serious GTA!' and then the GetaLife building pops up :D

No more of the gansta hippity hop ****, I couldn't understand anything in the last GTA game, bar the word 'nigger' which was repeated just about every second of the game. As far as I can tell the last games protagonist's motivation was because some 'nigger' stole his toaster...

Anyway, so now we have Mr Immigrant, great. What you going to do spend the first hour learning the ropes by assaulting old women for their change and forging citizenship documents...

Can you imagine the achievements "Smuggle 60 whores into the country in 60 minutes"...

A Yakuza themed GTA, or a GTA England would of worked, or [and here's a novel idea] even create your own character!

But alas, no. We're stuck with GTA 4: Green Card New York

But seriously my sadness when it wasn't a new location was battled by the relief that we don't have to play as another 'homeboy'...jesus...I played most of San andreas on mute... listening only to the Sammy Jackson bits.

Also. I hope they learn a lesson from the scarface game and actually put some public interactivity into the game.
