I am looking into picking up another controller in a few weeks time [currently have 2 wireless ones of which one is almost broken].

I've been hearing a lot lately that there are advantages to having a wired controller. Advantages, such as quicker response time and a lighter/slightly smaller controller. Obviously the main difference is a wire, but that's something I'm too bothered about as my controller is pretty much constantly connected to the Play&Charge kit.

The price difference is about 5-10 quid, is it worth it continuing to go wireless? Are there actually advantages in having a wire?

Well if you are always connected to the 360 anyway then save

Just a word of note, in PC gaming, wired mouses are generally the prefered option. Dunno what the difference would be on console but either way it's gonna be unresponsive -_-

Im pretty sure the wired controllers do have a faster response time but i dont think the difference is that much.
If i were you Cat i'd buy a wired one as they are, Cheaper, Same as the wireless bar a wire. It really depends on what you want. I mean do you really need wireless - how far away from your 360 do you sit?

I have a wired controller that i use on all other games apart from RB, becasue i think the rumble/vibration is alot better, and i have vibration switched of in RB.

It certainly feels alot better, so much lighter .

I would go with the wired one if i was you. The battey life on the wirless ons is bad.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I don't tend to use vibration on most games, it gets annoying after a while and I definitely don't have it switched on on shooting games.

As for the distance to my TV/360, it's generally quite close, 2 metres maybe, but I'm across the room occasionally which is close enough for the cable for my Play&Charge kit.

Can someone who has both a wired controller and a Play&Charge kit tell me if the length of the wire is the same?

My g/f purchased a wired controller for her to play Viva Pinata 2 player....but since she hasnt really bothered playing it, I've been using the wired controller n havent used my wireless since Xmas. Basically I think the wired pad is more responsive...or it could be that my wireless has been used too much. I dont know whether its a mental thing but I prefer using the wired pad now.

Pretty sure its a mental thing, I've used a wired pad a few times and couldn't find any difference except not liking the thumbsticks.

Yeah I think its cos the buttons have just been bashed n it needs a good clean out. Tried to get the pad open but my screwdrivers werent long/slim enough to get to 2 of the screws.

360 pads wired and wireless are built so bad in my opion. In my 25+yrs of gaming, I’ve hardly ever broken a game-pad (apart from Quick-shot II on the Comedore64). But I’m already on my 5th 360 controller.

Problem: well, the trigger buttons snap every time, and the rubber comes off the thumb sticks. I know its not me, as my pads always last me.

But back to the question, YES, personally I think the wired pads are better. They are so much lighter, and just feel easier to use. I can’t judge whether it was more responsive, but I think they may be, just a tad.

I used a jewellers/glasses screw driver to get mine out and it worked well, i then replaced them with the screws I took out of the Duke I canibalised for the sticks and used those screws so I can get into the pad to clean it.

Zed, i share your opinion on the pad to an extent, not had anything break properly on it but the plastic is way to soft, i've dropped mine quite a few times and everytime I do there is another scratch or another dent in it so I end up having to break out a piece of sandpaper every now and then to get rid of the sharp edges on the pad so I don't slice my hands :(

The wired controller has approx 15cm more cable length...so no major difference.
