Notes

Gametype Changes
1. Beaver Creek Flag will be replaced with Midship Bomb. The Halo 2 gametype roster will still contain 11 total gametypes. Consequently, each five game series will now contain two Midship gametypes.
2. The weapon set for Team Slayer Sanctuary has been changed from ‘No Sniping’ to ‘Map Default’.

General Rule Changes
3. Neutral Bomb games will have an initial time limit of 15 minutes. If after 15 minutes, one team is winning, the game is over. Even if a bomb is planted before the 15 minute mark, the score must change before the time limit for the plant to count. If the score is tied after 15 minutes, sudden death rules go into effect.
4. A tactic called ‘portal jumping’, which allowed a player to jump through a portal and land on top of a base on maps like Beaver Creek, is now illegal.
5. Action replay has been formally illegalized.
6. Players who end a game without a referee’s permission will receive a forfeit.
7. Higher seeded teams will ALWAYS be red team, even in series that are extended to a best of 11.
8. If a team is winning a ball game by more time than is remaining in a match, the game will not be restarted in the event of an Xbox or TV malfunction.
9. The 2007 schedule allows for 208 4v4 teams and 1028 FFA players.

FFA Rule Changes
10. During regular season events, there will be no Halo 2 1v1 competition. There will still be a 1v1 competition at the Playoffs and National Championships. With only three days in which to finish the event and a new registration cap of 208 4v4 teams, the decision had to be made in the interest of time. We do not want to put players through brutal 12-hour plus sessions of tournament play. There will still be cash prizes for the Top 8 finishers in the Championship FFA. Read on for the new format for the Championship FFA.
11.The Championship FFA is no longer played in Round Robin format. The competition consists of a 32 man, 8-player game double elimination bracket. In the Winners Bracket, the top four in each game will advance to the next Winners Bracket Round, and the bottom four will drop to the Losers Bracket. In the Losers Bracket, the top four in each game will advance to the next Losers Bracket round, while the bottom four are eliminated entirely. When there are eight players remaining (four in the Winners Bracket and four in the Losers Bracket), a final game will be played. The winner will claim the Championship FFA title.
12. During Free-For-All matches, players will receive warnings for giving kills to others, at the judge’s discretion. Two warnings result in disqualification from the round.
13. There is no score limit to Free-For-All matches. Games will be played for a 15-minute duration.
14. Up to 128 players will be pre-seeded for the Open Free-For-All.
15. Should a player wish to relinquish his Free-For-All hosting privileges, host will be given to the next highest seeded player.
16. The tiebreakers for Free-For-All games have been extended to formally include Shots Hit, Hit Percentage, and Player vs. Player. 17. Free-For-All is optional for all 4v4 players.

Seeding Rule Changes
18. After teams are seeded for the Open 4v4 based on their 2006 Pro Circuit 4v4 Rank Points, (and 2007 points starting with the Meadowlands event) teams will be seeded based on Online Tournament Rank Points. Teams with no Pro Circuit or Online Tournament Rank Points will be seeded based on FFA performance.
19. Pro Circuit FFA Rank Points will no longer be used to seed teams for the Championship 4v4 that don't have Pro Circuit 4v4 Rank Points.

Hosting Rule Changes
20. In the Championship 4v4, after the higher seed is given host of the Team Ball game and choose another game to host, the lower seeded team will be given ability to choose their two games for hosting.
21. If two teams face each other in the Championship Match that have not yet faced each other, the undefeated team will be able to take higher seed hosting privileges for the Championship Match game types or defer their advantage to the Winners Bracket Finals should those games need to be played.
22. The hosting rules for matches extending to a Best of 11 or Best of have been altered. These changes are fully detailed in the 2007 rules packet.

MLG have just destroyed themselves in my opinion, I hate Assault! Also why would you change the amount of kill in the FFA to unlimited now the game is pointless and you have to play a 15minute game. Finally what was wrong with Beaver Creek flag?

Please, to the staff who run the Halo 2 tournaments at both XL and Matchbox360 Online, DO NOT change to these rules!

What does everyone else think about these new rules?

I think that Beaver CTF was removed because of the red base advantage.
The unlimited score in ffa is a bit random.
Not sure about neutral bomb but it normally leads to quite exciting games whenever i've played it in team hardcore.

Really? I always find that because there is no extra time at the end like in CTF when you contest it you never have enough time to plant the bomb :|

assault doesnt need the contest time on neutral anyway, 1 bomb, maybe, but say after 30 seconds its gone, but the option isnt there

as for Neutral bomb itself, get in, its about time, i may start to enjoy mlg games now

Wouldnt go that far. Just because they have added a new gametype doesn't mean they have destroyed themselves. No extra time on assault means you have to be quick in taking out the other team and planting the bomb. This requires good teamwork and efficient tactics. Its not like no one is going to go to the MLG events any more due to assault being added. As for the unlimited FFA score and 15 minute time limit, I think it is a excellent idea.

I agree, FFA unlimited score is brilliant. It means if you start bad you can get yourself back into it rather than just having to go for 4th place etc knowing someone is nearing the 50 kills.

I'm happy will all of the changes, bar the changes to Sanctuary. Which could work well, bar the lack of BR ammo on the map, guess it will have to be tested.

Ah I think the Sanctuary rule is so much better, I prefer having the snipe on sanctuary. It also favours my team, Phil's going to cream himself.

Fair enough but will MB360 or XL be changing their rules to the new MLG rules?

*Slaps Liam* I've told you to keep away from that god damn sword.

Just wait for these rules to be followed though, you'll join a game and it'll be FFA unlimited.

Sorry Gazza :P Even though it is impossible. Imagine, seeing the sword lying there and leaving it for someone else  *Murders someone on the sly*

I dunno, it could be interesting. The no kill limit, seems to me they are following other, DM Type tournies (eg Quake, Quake 4.)

As for Bomb, well that could be fairly good, you could incorperate some interesting strats into it. I think it will be fun. :D Shame about beaver flag, though...
