Well this tournament was mostly to test the ground on how many Pro evo players we have interested, and obviously it has been proven that we have alot. Do not think that this will be the last tournament we do, in fact after this event has finished dont stray too far away from Matchbox because we have more in the pipeline.
I'm just throwing out an idea, here. Feel free to catch or drop it at your leisure.

Maybe, you could introduce seedings based on how well each player performs, like the Halo 2 tournaments, and start, a little belatedly, with the current PES6 Champions League stats. Although it's too late to have an affect, the seedings could, in future competitions, deter the deserters from not playing their remaining matches if they know that how they perform in each match can affect their seedings, and obviously they wouldn't want to be thrown into the 'death' group or some similar difficult group in the next tournament, as a result of their poor seeding in the last - or chucked into a bottom division league. Some players may not care for seedings, but, at least, it's something that they can play for other than pride; whereas, currently, there's little reason to play if you can't qualify et cetera.

The seedings would also benefit the players who won the majority of their group games or performed well: accounting the victories, instead of disposing them.

Most of all, it would provide a somewhat accurate picture of the most consistent players over several tournaments, leagues et cetera.

It would be relatively easy to set it up: based on points for wins and draws, and extra points for wins or draws in the knock-out round of competitions. But that's just a simplistic system hammered out by a hammered player at five in the morning.

Definitely sounds interesting and will be something that we will consider when we decide in which direction to go with our next pro evo events. Hadnt really thought about it up until now though but is something that may well be implemented if we see possible.

I like the idea - to be honest I already thought that this Champion's League may have an impact on the next XL tournament in some way (not sure how but thought it might come into fruition).

I've been somewhat disappointed in the follow through of certain players, some quitting, some not playing their games for whatever reason - I suppose it's easy for people to put their name down and then they just think 'meh', so there definitely needs to be some encouragement for people to follow through on their games.

A seeding system sounds good, it gives a bit of motivation. May I suggest that the results from XL are included? ;)

Leigh, sort of unrelated question but at XL, who was that foreign guy that walked out of the tournament half way through his last group game? The one that claimed PES was mocking him for his religion when his goalkeeper "pulled a Robinson" in the game against me, and swore through every game (which he lost, every game) that PES had personal issues with him on a spiritual level? It was hilarious, he was deadly serious that PES was spiritually against him and a 'demon', he 100% meant it and tried to convince us! I've been trying to track him down since XL, he was the funniest guy in the world!

Sounds a good idea, but a few problems with this (I think) are that:

- People that don't play their games for what ever reason are more likely to NOT to play if there in a group with excellent players.
- I am one for trying to promote using a variety of teams in comps rather than the predictable 4, based on this my current ranking would be shocking, as I used Reading.
- Lastly, how do you reward players that turn up to games etc, but aren't very good, it's not very encouraging (me thinks) and could turn very predictable.

I think that there could be a scoring system that if you register for a comp you get points for playing games and if you don't turn up, it may affect you entering in another torney run from this website???

Not that any of you have noticed, but the groups in the PES6 Champions League were determined by players at XL and previous MatchBox360 competitions ;)

Basically, the players from XL and previous comps were allocated groups initially then all new players were subsequently added at random to fill up the remaining places.

All other PES6 comps will take into consideration the result from the PES6 Champions League, including ppl who do not play their games.

I knew it! I knew there was a correllation between Xl and this tourney, as in nobody seems to be in the same group as a player they played at XL! Ha!

See Gaskin - if it wasn't for that you'd have got knocked out much sooner sunshine :p;) (don't think I'm picking on you, just those two own goals in one match to draw 2-2 really annoyed me ;))

...and the reason that this was done was to prevent as many no shows as possible, with "reliable" players spread amongst the groups. As such, even though there were a few games not played in a number of groups, the group stage has largely been a success.

Yea i would agree with that. You cannot gaurentee tht all players are going to play their matches in a group event like this one, but as far as the teams who got through to the knockout stages it was mostly who i expected, maybe with the unexpected exit of a few because of new players who i didnt recognise, but played very well (e.g unable corpse)

God how i wish i went to the last XL...I could have done quite alright in the PES6 comp methinks. But it's too late now, I'll just have to win this tourney to prove my superior skills :D lol
